V.F.Mason always loved reading books and had quite a few fights with her mama over the genre she liked (romance, duh!) She studied filmmaking and thought that would feed her desire for stories, but that didn't happen.
Finally, when she was tired of all those voices in her head, she sat down and wrote a book. It was a huge decision to make and she thanks her friends and family for supporting her in it.
When she is not writing, she can be found with her friends doing all sorts of crazy things or reading recent romance books that were written by her favorite authors.

Though I never read anything by V. F. Mason before now, I still anticipated the hell out of this book. After reading the blurb, I added it to my tbr immediately. I love a story with a serial killer for a main character! Throw in a romance between said killer and a criminal psychologist, and I'm sold!

 photo WHDQ-513591063_zpsrde4ivxw.gif

Ella's entire family was slaughtered when she was just a teenager. She came home from a party to find them lying in pools of their own blood. As if that wasn't tragic enough, she finds out the killer is someone close to her after they arrest them during her high school graduation.

Haunted by her past, Ella pursues a job in law enforcement. She studies everything she can about serial killers and what makes them tick. Due to her history, she struggles to find anyone willing to hire her in the field she desires. When Ella finally gets a chance to work for the FBI, she's thrilled. Until, the unthinkable happens, and the serial killer she's investigating sets his sites on her.

Psychopath's Prey is a twisted romance between two people that are the victims of horrific events endured in their childhood. As a result of their trauma, one of them becomes a criminal psychologist and the other becomes a serial killer. Throughout much of the book, we aren't sure of the identity of the killer causing the anticipation to build like crazy until the reveal.

This story is full of mystery, suspense, and steam that will make your heart ache for a serial killer. It's dark, captivating, and wonderfully written! If you're like me and enjoy unconventional romances, I recommend this one to you!!

description~WRITING - PLOT - PACE~
This book was all kinds of fifty shades of awesome. It was like watching an episode of CRIMINAL MINDS in book form. And since I am currently binge watching all 13 seasons of that series every character in this book looked like their TV counterpart (lol). The writing was phenomenal. The pace was fairly good. I will say that this felt maybe a TAD too long. It took me just over four hours to finish. The story was told through dual POVs and we jump back and forth from past to present quite often. I'm not a huge fan of that type of storytelling, but it worked quite well in this instance. Although, I do think some past chapters could have been left out thus improving the pace a bit. But it was just a tiny niggle for me. The plot was super engaging and like I said above, reminded me A LOT of Criminal Minds. I wouldn't call it an overly dark book, but I read some pretty f-cked up books, so it will depend on your reading habits where this lands on the "dark" scale. There were also some good twists and turns. One I figured out quite early on, but the second surprised the hell out of me. So kudos to the author for that. Last, it was all wrapped up in an interesting ending. I have to marinade a bit on it because I am still unsure how I feel about it.

~MAIN CHARACTERS~
I am choosing to be a little vague in this part as I don't really want to inadvertently give anything away. I will say that both main characters were very well developed. They were complex. They were intriguing. They were f-cked up. The author did a very good job of exploring the whys and the hows with their histories. The heroine was strong and smart as well.

description

~SECONDARY CHARACTERS~
In addition to two amazingly written main characters, there was a great cast of secondary characters in this book. I loved Ella's two best friends. I loved all the members of the BAU. Even Sociopath makes a brief appearance. All of them added extra depth to the plot that made this one even better.

~HEAT LEVEL~
Mediumish. There were some suitably spicey sex scenes in this one. They were slightly tamer (kink wise) than I would have thought for the subject matter, but it worked. The frequency also felt organic to the story.

~ANGST LEVEL - SEXUAL HISTORIES~
Medium. Murder = angst. Lies = angst. Hurt = angst. Neither of the main characters was virgins. There was no OW drama. There was a bit of OM drama.

~IN THE END~
I enjoyed the hell out of this one. It was my first V.F. Mason book but definitely will not be my last. It pretty much ticked off every box for me. Fantastic writing. Great plot. Well developed and intriguing main characters. A great cast of secondary characters. Hot sex. Pain and torture. Secrets and lies. Love and hate. Twist and turns, and so much more. Therefore yours truly is going to give this one two HUGE thumbs up.description

“Stupidity will end human kind, mark my words.”

What a ride!

Psychopath's Prey was my first book by this author and I was blown away by how much I enjoyed this. I now can't wait to have a nose into what else they have on offer. I was anticipating this massively and often my expectations are shattered when the book doesn't live up to the hype. Not here, I would even say "Psychopath's Prey has exceeded my initial excitement, that doesn't happen very often.
So how much to reveal, that's a tough one, I want to rave from the rooftops but will keep myself in check as have no wish to spoil this experience for others.

This is told from multiple POV's which I loved as I felt this gave a well-rounded multi-faceted outlook on all involved. I appreciated the way the chapters were laid out keeping you in the dark to Psychopath's true identity until that final reveal. I swung back and forward throughout, changing my mind numerous times as to who he was and even when it was finally revealed I still wasn't really sure in myself who to actually suspect.

Now I’m a massive Criminal Minds fan and have watched all thirteen seasons of the show, you could have tickled me pink that this was partially set in the BAU I was like a kid at Christmas. Included was a fantastic array of side characters all of them vivid and well researched and I don't think for me there were any weak links at all.

This was not really in my opinion that dark, but I suppose that's all in your perception. I like dark and depraved fiction, so found this to be relatively mild. I did wonder how events were going to finally play as I just couldn't see how the end game was going to be achieved. I was then pleasantly surprised and impressed at how this author wrapped things up.

I recommend this one highly Psychopath's Prey is a complete gem that I enjoyed immensely hope you do too. Thank You to the Author for providing me with an ARC of "Psychopath's Prey" of which I have reviewed voluntary. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

5-this-feels-so-wrong-yet-feels-so-good-stars!!!

Warning: This book contains lots of unhealthy amount of triggers that can make people uncomfortable. Read at your own risk, guys!

Am I sane and a normal human being because I loved this book so much? I don't think I am. I can't come up with the right words on how unbelievably ensnaring this story is.

It was a roller-coaster ride which contains:

-Mystery
-Insanity (for me and the characters LOL)
-Thriller
-Fucked up intriguing characters
-One helluva plot
-Exquisite writing style from the author
-Every dark and twisted elements you can come up with

And yet...

It was unputdownable.
It was addicting.
It's like I'm drowning in adrenaline and I don't want it to stop.
It's extremely dark and twisted that makes me question my morality.

This is my first VF Mason read, and I am impressed on her character building and writing style.

Having read and liked Sociopath Duet and Pakhan Duet I was looking forward to read this.

This is a book with enough suspense and thrill it will keep you engaged: a serial killer who goes the extra mile to draw the attention of a particular FBI profiler.
When Psychopath sets his eyes on Ella it is game on for him The hunter has found his prey, and nothing will stop him until he gets her.

While Ella and her colleagues desperately try to identify the serial killer before he strikes again, he is playing his game too My little prey is not as easily convinced as the others. I can practically see the thoughts swirling in her head as she searches desperately for any clues.
I gave her a hint with the family photo; she just needs to move in the right direction.

With the BAU team still having no clue on his identity they move on to new and more urgent cases. But Psychopath is still obsessed by Ella, moves in and takes her.

I have enjoyed reading their story. I had an inkling to the identity of Psychopath, got thrown off by the author but in the end my hunch was correct.
I was somewhat disappointed by the ending, it was too neat and convenient. I really would have like some more intrigue and unexpectedness.

“You are mine now, Ella. The hunter has won his prey”

  Evil isn't born, it's made.

So are the words of Psychopath, a serial killer whose modus operandi consists in kidnapping nice family men (loving heads of perfect families), torturing and killing them, then feeding their scattered body parts to the wolves. Sick, isn’t it?
But what if the men are not nice, nor loving, and they are in fact wife beaters and child abusers? What if these men rape their wives in front of their children, beating them bloody and abusing them psychologically and physically, until these women become so messed up they think the only way out for them is suicide? And what if the children bear the same wounds under their small clothes, trying to hide them at school by excusing themselves from PE? Doesn’t this soften your judgement on Psychopath? Doesn’t this transform the serial killer into some sort of vigilante, just like Deadpool or Oliver Queen? Just like Dexter?

Deep down society has an appetite for the macabre and that makes some of us sympathize with serial killers. We transform them into larger than life celebrities, we know their names, we watch the movies where famous actors portray their lives and we read the books they inspire. Why? Because let’s face it, we are curious to see what had happened in their lives to have led them down this path. Serial killers are not like other people. They lack conscience, they lack empathy and most of them seem to lack a soul. But they are highly intelligent, meticulous individuals, because only a genius can evade capturing for so long. And our Psychopath has evaded the law for more than 15 years.

  Evil is made.

The passages where Psychopath’s childhood is presented were the hardest to read. And when I say hard, I mean HARD! I could get through the serial killing, through the kidnapping & abuse of Ella, but when I got to the scenes from Psychopath’s childhood I just flipped. Have you ever seen “Room” with Brie Larson and Jacob Tremblay? Well this was like the mother and the child escaped the room only to enter “The Burning Bed”. But that was not all, sprinkle that with some animal abuse in front of a 9 year old child, and add finding his mother in a pool of blood at 10 and you get the picture of Psychopath’s childhood.

Sometimes I look at all those kids in our neighborhood who ride bikes or eat food, enjoying their time, and I wonder what it is like to be so carefree. To not be afraid. To not constantly apologize for breathing.

There is one question that bothers Psychopath: why do all those abused women stay for years with their husbands? Why don’t they leave? Why don’t they take their children and leave?
This question broke me, because I too personally know so many women in these situations (psychological abuse, not physical), and I ask myself the same questions. Why do they stay?

One day Psychopath bumps into Ella and feels attracted to her. He despises his feelings so much, he wants to destroy them and put them in the ground, together with Ella. But when he finds out more about Ella's past. he decides to use her to find an answer to his burning question first. So the hunting game begins. This is the start of the book.

description

Poor, unlucky Ella.
One year before graduation Ella comes home from a party to find her family murdered by a pedophile serial killer, and her little sister raped and dead in the basement. She embarks on a mission to work one day for the FBI and help put these monsters in prison for life. She graduates from Criminal Psychology and from the Police Academy, but the FBI keeps rejecting her applications because she is a risky resource due to her past to work with serial killers. Until one day, the FBI calls and offers her a position in the Behavioural Analysis Unit.
Her dream has come true.
Only that her being hired was not her doing but that of Psychopath, who is a FUCKING member of the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit. And the reader embarks on a guessing game of who Psychopath is among the men in the team.

This was the most brilliant thing the book did. We have Psychopath’s POV, but we don’t know who he is until very late in the book. There are clues everywhere, but some are fake, and some seem fake until much later in the book when they actually turn real.

Noah, Preston, Kierian. There is something about them that unsettles me, each in a different way.

It was pure entertainment for me to look at the clues and identify Psychopath.

I also want to talk about the sex scenes between Ella and one of her colleagues. Those are some of the hottest MF scenes I’ve read in my life. The man in question knew how to use his tongue, and boy, did the writer knew how to describe them. You have that to look forward to at least amidst all the gore and insanity.

Up until 70%, the book was pure suspense perfection. Then it was just good, with an epilogue that pissed me off, and I’m removing 0.5 from the rating because of the epilogue. Many liked the epilogue. I thought it was just beyond sick.

This is not a love story. Or if you want, it’s as much of a love story as it was between Harley Quinn and the Joker. A purely demented, psychotic & sick love story.

She almost reminds me of a doll with her pale, clear skin that will probably look magnificent with blood smeared all over it while her beautiful brown pools fill with tears and fear from what I make her feel.

Seeing Ella, an FBI agent, develop the Stockholm syndrome Psychopath craved in order to answer his burning question was very uncomfortable to read. I know it has happened in reality, there are many women out there who chose love over sanity, as there are 8 documented cases of serial killers (Ted Bundy, Charles Manson etc) that got married to one of their fans while in prison for life. But that didn't stop me screaming at Ella: "Are you fucking stupid, woman?"

But just the idea of giving her freedom unsettles me, awakening something dark and possessive inside me that roars. She is mine. And no matter how bad that fucking is, she will always stay mine.

Just like the Joker, Psychopath was overly protective and possessive of Ella. He would not allow anything or anyone to harm her, including herself.
Anyone but him that is.

No matter how you will find this book, mock my words, you will sympathize with Psychopath and feel no mercy for his victims.
And isn't that fucked up?

4.5 stars.
P.S.1: I’ve been so entertained, I wasn’t even bothered by repetitions like “this guy has to be seen to be believed”, “This man has to be seen to be believed!” , “His confidence has to be seen to be believed” ,”Her naivety has to be seen to be believed,”, “my stupidity has to be seen to be believed” , “My life has to be seen to be believed.” If you are a picky reader, you will find a couple of editing faults but they are minor. One of them was Ella falling in love with Psychopath. One or two more chapters would have worked better to add an extra layer on how she went down that path.

P.S.2: At the end, a couple of chapters prior to the epilogue there is a twisty twist.
P.S.3: Another serial killer appears in the book called Sociopath and I saw there are already two books where he is an MC. Guess what I'll be reading soon? :)

Wasn't really dark, in fact there was NOTHING dark until about 59%. And then it was minimal. No non-con, or dubious consent and a very small amount of violence (I couldn't even call it torture) of the h. The worst of the violence were remembered scenes of Psychopath witnessing his father beat his mother.

Not really a romance either, or at least a romance I believed. I struggled to get to 45%, I just found it quite boring and didn't really feel a connection to the characters. I did eventually with the heroine (I only finished the book earlier to day and can't even remember her name) but couldn't respect her. I then pretty much skimmed the rest of the book just to see how it finished. Totally unbelievable ending, lots of loose ends not really explained.

This heroine really rubbed me the wrong way. She was meant to be this professional in terms of analysing criminals and their behaviour but she was so full of denial about the H and always trying to see his behaviour through rose tinted glasses. I found her too naive and it really annoyed me!

While it wasn't badly written, I'm afraid I found this one a bit boring. I love a good take-what-he-wants Alpha-hole and love, even more so, when there's an element of crazy, but Psychopath's Prey missed the mark for me.

Short recap: Ella was definitely dealt a crappy hand, but she's strong and wants to move beyond her own tragedy to help others. I get that. She's strong, blah, blah, but when shit hits the fan (again), her you-will-never-break-me attitude gets tiresome, especially once it starts to contradict her behavior.

My biggest issue was the predictability of it all though. Despite the author's painfully obvious attempts at misdirection, the psychopath's identity was pretty clear from the start (and when I say painfully obvious, I mean it---.

The whole thing was this long, drawn out mystery with no mystery. The thrills were non-existent, and a lot of the dialogue sounded far from natural. In the end, the only thing that saved this from a lower rating from me was the sex (which became repetitive toward the end) and the editing (very few mistakes).

This wasn’t an easy story to accept or understand, still as usual with this author, it blew my mind!
It is a beautifully written dark, gritty and need to finish in one sitting type book. AND so damn hot!!!

A love story between a serial killer and a profiler- understandably tricky and kudos to the author for getting it right.
My heart broke for both hero and heroine. The suspense was complex, twists plenty and interesting. I was inhaling the pages in first half. Each and everyone was in my suspect list for psychopath’s identity. Still when the revelation came I was surprised.
Unfortunately and probably for the first time I wasn’t happy with an epilogue. I found it lacking. I wanted heroine to get more from hero, emotionally speaking.
She definitely deserved more. Because in epilogue she admitted to herself if she ever becomes a threat to their child he wont hesitate to kill her! That didn’t sit well with me. How can she trust him after this?Espcially in the context of him being a serial killer. The angle with heroine’s friends also felt like unfinished business. They were such a huge part of her life and she left them just like that? I also had problem with hero not verbally confessing his love to her.

This one was a mix for me.. I love the idea it was disturbing and I enjoyed it. BUT!!
I found this book had more thriller plot then romance we had alittle romance but that was it. It wasn't to dark.. dark but not bad.

Ella has had a rough life a serial killer killed her family did horrible things to her younger sister and was caught and she made it her life to join the force to put away these peoples. Now she has a new job and a new team. And a ex ons who now her coworker.

Things are tension when they have a new case and we see Ella POV and the psycho POV.. and for a moment your confused on who is the killer!! I was like no its him or him NO HIM. 🤣🤣🤣

But my gut knew who the psycho was. And when he is shown you'll be "I KNEW IT" why a low rating... I do wish it had more romance and the flashbacks kept my mood meh.

Angst, no cheating, Drama, slight secondary character, sexy times, no virgins

This is one I’m not sure I can wrap my head around. I think if you suspend reality, completely, this may work for you. Not sure how someone who’s family is killed by a serial killer ends up surrounded but killers, choosing that as a profession. Anyway, I figured out who Psychopath was pretty early on but kept second guessing myself think there is no way...but yep way! It was an entertaining story if nothing else!

“With gloves on and blade in my hand, I proceed to do what I always do, but this time my mind doesn’t have the clarity it usually has during those moments.
Instead, Ella appears, and I dwell on her reaction once she sees his dead body.
My ‘welcome to the team’ gift.”

I really enjoyed this one. I think I liked the first part more where we learn about Ella and her past and I think the whole FBI deal was super interesting and fun. It reminded me a bit of the Mindf*ck Series by S.T. Abby. It’s not the same but it gave me the same vibes, although this one is not a romance. Or at least, I wouldn’t consider it a romance because I saw it more as a guy who has a lot of trauma and meets a woman that’s his victim/lover. It was interesting, the psych part, to see inside his brain and his POV it was super interesting.

It is marketed as a thriller romance and it is a thriller, but like I said before I don’t consider it a romance per se.I guessed who the killer was, but at times it kind of threw me off and made me doubt which made me stay focused and into the story. I was super hooked since the very beginning because, I don’t know, it was just very interesting.

It kinda lost me a bit in the second half, mostly because we lost the second characters and it was just the main two. It felt dragged and a bit boring. I liked learning about the Psychopath’s past, though. I usually don’t like short epilogues, but it felt fitting cause I wasn’t here for the romance.

There was a scene were I’m pretty sure the Psychopath sexually abused Ella, but she later says he didn’t… I think this is a trauma response, because she didn’t want it, and once again, that’s why I don’t see it as a romance. It can also be viewed as a romanticized toxic abusive relationship, but if you take out the romance lenses, it’s more like a thriller trauma-heavy story. It was fun.

It’s my first book by this author, and I definitely will read more🖤

It’s taken me a few days to pen my review for this story. PP is one of the most intense reads I’ve experienced in quite a while. I should have known to expect only the most messed up from Mason!

The psychopath is a very deep, dark, and disturbed guy. Well isn’t that the definition of the word? Yes I know but this dude has created another element, another level of the definition. You will understand the how’s and why’s early in the story. Meanwhile, the heroine Ella is working to overcome her past and finds a cutie to help her move forward. When I tell you Kierian is a beast in and out of the bedroom, trust me he is SUPER HOT! Yes he’s a yummy FBI agent determined to find this psycho killing people in his community. He’s perfection on the job and in the bedroom. No more! I will not ruin this amazing story for you! But kudos to Mason for those intense scenes as I was truly jealous of Ella on many occasions!

I highly recommend this story as it is BRILLIANTLY WRITTEN! Mason offers a deep and heartbreaking insight into the childhood and growth of the psychopath. She cleverly intertwined the sexy romance of two unlikely characters with the dramatic journey to catch a serial killer. There’s not one dull moment in this story! Be advised PP is not for the weak or vanilla reader. This guy is a serial killer and Mason does a brilliant job with the killing scenes. However, the intimate scenes between Kierian and Ella will definitely take the sting away of the bad. TRUST!

Five stars!

When I first read the blurb to this story I was so intrigued and knew I absolutely needed to read it. This is going to be a really difficult review to write as EVERYTHING is a spoiler and this story is best enjoyed when you're completely in the dark! I absolutely FLOVED this story!! I loved the heartpounding suspense and the way it consumed me. I loved Ella from the getgo. She was strong, determined and sassy and everything I love in a heroine. Overall this novel was mindblowing and I could not get enough.

When tragedy strikes Ella Gadot at a young age she makes it her mission to work for the FBI so she can delve into the minds of criminals to prevent it from happening to other families. But she could never have expected to land on the radar of a Psychopath who at one glance, decides to make Ella his greatest victim to date. GAHHH!!! This story was a quagmire of emotions. I loved being in both Ella and Psychopath's heads. I melted at swoony parts and then shook with fear at the scary parts. It was unique, compelling, addicting and will sweep you away the minute you start!! I was obsessed! The passion, the fear of the axe falling on Ella, the unknown entities and the cast of characters were alll amazing. I seriously never wanted this story to end!

Overall, this was an exhilarating novel that will suck you up and leave you gasping for breath and hoping for more. Bravo! 5 stars! ~Ratula

Psychopath's Prey by VF Mason is a really exciting dark romance. Ella is trying to find the Psychopath killer but it looks like he has her already in his sites.
This will set off some triggers and is again a very dark romance. The story line kept me on the edge of my set....a definite page turner.
Exciting Story!~

This new-to-me author did a brilliant job with this one. It kept me guessing and on the edge of my seat. For a long while I couldn't figure out how this would be an HEA, or if there even would be one. Ending was satisfactory, and I'd be excited to pick up the other books in this world.

Whoa...

This was my first V.F Mason book and it just increased my TBR list because it was that good. It was this intricate mix of a past and present, suspense and intrigue. It was gritty and so interesting. It really felt like I was inside a whole season of Criminal Minds, with a bit more adult content and grit. I loved the story telling style and way the story unfolded. I loved that it kept me guessing and the POV it was told in.

Ella's life has not been easy. Her family was slaughter which only leads to more devastation which leads to setback after setback but she has this mind that can figure things out. She finally lands herself the job she has been after only to find herself thrusted right into a Psychopath's story. Ella wants to help people and find the bad guys but there is something about this case that she just can't put her finger on. He is playing with her and she doesn't know why. She can't figure out what it is about her and the journey to find out is what made this book so, so crazy.

I can't really give a lot of details because the book was thick with plot and too much detail will give it away. It was a long book but I got so wrapped up in it that I didn't want to put it down. This story kept you guessing and just when I thought I figured it out, I was wrong. Then I kinda thought I knew how it was going to go and I was wrong again. I love when I don't get it right. I like to be surprised and I liked that I was left guessing all the way. Mason wove this tale that twisty and dark. There was some definite sizzle to it, that was well placed and just enough. Ugh...just writing this makes me want to pick up another of this author’s books so I can get wrapped up in another tale.

DNF, left in chapter 18. I found this book to be boring and to think that I was practically salivating at the synopsis. It's written well but I had to get past those long sentences with commas at the beginning and I find that I always start rapping whenever I read a sentence with a lot of pauses.

Ohhh, this book is so fucked up, the author makes us sympathize with the serial killer and feel nothing for the victims. And I assume that the main gets Stockholm syndrome by the end of the book but she is in love with a serial killer that views her as a possession because he is a "psychopath". But I left it when, I crave to hurt her, so her mind will be filled with only me and the fear of what I might do to her. He is possessive like a boy with a toy but not in an emotionally invested way such as through love.

It already hard enough having to get past all the flashbacks to give them backstory but then when you get to the chapter that something will happen...nothing does. BTW, the title is a bit misleading because he is not a psychopath, he is a sociopath.

2 stars. This should’ve worked but man it was so boring. Nothing of interest happens for more than half of the book and then when things do happen it’s all convoluted and silly. The mystery of who the killer is is so obvious right from the start even though the book tries really hard to throw you off. I knew who it was immediately. I didn’t like either character and I felt no chemistry between them at all. Ella is the definition of too stupid to live. That girl is naive as hell and I couldn’t believe she worked for the freakin’ FBI being that dumb. Unbelievable. Kierian had potential but in the end was an inconsistent character and a bit of a bore.

I did like the writing though, the story itself and Kierian’s back story are extremely dark and at times hard to read and I thought the ending was well done so I’ll check out more of this author’s work but this one just didn’t hit the mark for me unfortunately.

I’m trying to figure out how to review this book and give it justice but it’s hard. This book was well thought out. Well worded, just enough to keep me on the edge of my seat, keep me thinking and wondering who the psychopath is. Ella is the main counter part of this book, along with the psychopath. We get in their heads and slowly start to understand then each for different reasons. I really enjoyed the story. I was challenged when it come to figuring out what was going on, who was doing what, and when was everything going to come full circle.

The author did great at keeping the mystery under wraps. Twisting and turning every fact, the. Leaving readers awestruck when it all comes out. I know this is a really vague review but read the story and you’ll understand why I had to do it this way. 4 stars #2OCCJD

*Sighs* I really wanted to love this book but in the end, I didn't buy into their love and the serial killer thing kinda went over the top. I did enjoy the first half but just as I needed the story to tighten up and dive deeper, it went wide, leaving me feeling unsatisfied. Overall, I felt it lacked the finesse and the depth I needed to love it.

I am avid reader of dark romance and thrillers and over time have developed specific likes and dislikes, so while this didn't tick all my boxes, it may tick yours.

Where do I even begin with this one?

Okay, I'll start from the the beginning and work my way through.

The beginning seemed boring and it took about 10 chapters for me to get into the story but once I was in? I couldn't put it down! The whole "mystery" aspect of this book was absolutely amazing, I was completely invested in it. So why am I rating it 2?
Well I would've totally rated it 4 if not for the way this book ended. The last few chapters were confusing af and if anyone understood it, please explain because it all seemed so rushed to me with no proper explanation provided for that plot twist ughh! Oh and I wasn't a fan of the ending as well.
That's all you need to know to decide whether you want to read this or not without having the plot spoilt for yourself.
