Day to Night #1

What We Do in the Night

Rate this book
Just five months ago, Valentine O'Dell started working at a very special kind of club - one where you can dance the night away, or live out your greatest fantasy. She's learned to lose herself to her nights, forgetting all her day time woes as she charms every man she meets. It's easy enough to do when she doesn't let her feelings get involved.

Then Ari Sharapov walked in and changed everything.

Working for his father's law firm has left Ari with very little control over his life, so when he meets Valentine for the first time, he sees a girl who is desperate for someone to take care of her. To take over her. So what he can't get for himself in the day time, he'll simply take for himself at night. But when power struggles lead to real feelings, who's actually controlling whom?

Some relationships are better left in the dark.

Crazy woman from a remote location in Alaska (where the need for a creative mind is a necessity!), I have been writing since ... forever? Yeah, that sounds about right. I have been told that I remind people of Lucille Ball - I also see shades of Jennifer Saunders, and Denis Leary. So basically, I laugh a lot, I'm clumsy a lot, and I say the F-word A LOT.

I like dogs more than I like most people, and I don't trust anyone who doesn't drink. No, I do not live in an igloo, and no, the sun does not set for six months out of the year, there's your Alaska lesson for the day. I have mermaid hair - both a curse and a blessing - and most of the time I talk so fast, even I can't understand me.

Yeah. I think that about sums me up.

I also write contemporary romance under the name Penny Sixsmith

description OMG...this guy was such a twatwaffle. The type of asshole you want to nibble on his ear while stabbing him in the dick repeatedly. (lol) So I liked this one. It reminded me a lot of a certain 90s movie. Which was fine beings as it is a favorite movie of mine. The writing was fantastic. It was fairly long, but paced well. The plot was intriguing (I want to work at Caché!!). The sex was plentiful and hot. There is some OW drama in the form of Ari's ex girlfriend. Usually I am not a fan of crazy exes, but it didn't bother me overly much here. I found her crazy (and how Ari handles her) more amusing than annoying. However, I hope she just remains a nuisance in the next book and not something more.

description

There was a well-rounded cast of intriguing secondary characters (I adore Del). Ari...well Ari is a bit of an acquired taste. The guy was just an entitled asshole most of the time. However, there was also something likable about him under all that douche. (lol) The banter and chemistry between him and Valentine was sizzling and humourous. For me the real star of this book was Valentine herself. I loved this heroine. Strong. Smart. Loving. Feisty. Caring. Not a virgin (yay). She gave Ari a run for his money. I loved her. Last, this ends on a cliffhanger that broke my heart. Ari...Ari...Ari...there better be much groveling in his future. That is all I will say about that!

“I'm not impressed with your tour thus far,” Ari warned her, giving her a glare. Valentine beamed back at him before turning away.

“No returns, no refunds.”

“And if I want one?” he asked from behind her. She shrugged.

“You can ask. It'll be highly entertaining. The bouncer has been bored lately, he'd love to have that discussion.”

Ari's hands were suddenly on her hips, spinning her around to face him again. Once she was, his hands smoothed down over her butt and he pulled her close.

“Impress me,” he whispered, staring down the length of his nose at her.

“It's entirely possible that Caché isn't your kind of place,” she offered. “Maybe you'd feel more at home in a winery, or in a golf club. A local chapter of the Elks Lodge.”

His smirk was back in place – she'd almost begun to miss it – and then his lips were against her ear, his teeth scraping against her skin.

“Maybe I'd feel more at home in you.

She shivered, then leaned into the contact, pressing her cheek bone to his jawline.

“You couldn't afford the rent.”

“Try me.”

Valentine stepped back and pulled him backwards out of the room. She could already tell he wouldn't be interested in any of the other party rooms in the club, so she took him to a secret room. It was completely blacked out, except for a strobe light that only flickered every ten seconds. It was standing room only, wall to wall people, men and women. Some fully clothed, some in their underwear, some completely naked. Ambient house music played through speakers. Hands were everywhere, massaging and caressing and squeezing and pulling.

Since he was very tall and Valentine knew the light sequence, it was easy to spot Ari when they got separated. He was in the left corner of the room, somewhat enraptured by a well endowed woman rubbing her breasts across his back. So Valentine felt okay about letting herself get swept up in the crowd, losing herself to the sensations.

She could fully admit that she might be over her head in this particular situation. Caché really wasn't the place for someone like Ari, he probably found it all childish and droll. He was only there for her, which made him dangerous.

She was sandwiched between two naked women, she could feel the curves of their bodies against hers. Their touches were gentle as their hands explored her own body, staying strictly above her clothes because at Caché, rules were law, and consent was number one.

When she opened her eyes again, the strobe went off at the same moment, and she could see Ari maybe ten feet away from her. Staring at her. Then there was darkness and she held her breath. The strobe flickered again and he was right in front of her. In the darkness that followed, he grabbed her arm and he pulled. He pulled and she moved, because from the first moment he'd spoken to her downstairs, she'd been waiting for this to happen.

His hands were tangling in her hair, tilting her head up. His mouth was over her lips, forcing them wide apart. By the time the strobe went off again, her eyes were closed and his tongue was thrusting into her mouth. She moaned and hooked her hands over his biceps, drawing him closer.
They stumbled across the dark room, shoving through bodies, leaving moans and shouts in their wake. Then they were crashing into a wall and his leg was between hers, his thigh against her crotch. She groaned, then bit down hard on his bottom lip while raking her fingers through his hair.

This is so good. It feels so different. It's wrong. I shouldn't be feeling this way. Don't be afraid to say 'no'. Don't think about what you're doing. Don't let them know what you're thinking. And for fuck's sake, don't get attached.

Before she could stop any of it, though, he stopped it, first.

“Let's get out of here,” he suddenly growled into her mouth, then he jerked her away from the wall.
He led her back downstairs, and took her to their booth at the back of the room, and when he sat down this time, he pulled her right onto his lap.

“Valentine,” he sighed her name. “Patron saint of love.”

“Also of fainting,” she chuckled before kissing his ear. “And traveling.” Then she dipped her tongue inside his ear. “And the plague.”

He didn't respond immediately, so she took the opportunity to yank his head around to face her and she kissed him. His hand went back to her hair, curling and fisting, tugging at her roots.

“Now why am I not at all surprised to find out,” he laughed when he finally pulled away, “that you're the patron saint of something deadly and destructive.”

Valentine stared down at him from hooded eyes. He stared right back. She noticed that roguish lock of hair had once again fallen out of place, so she lifted her hand and gently pushed it back.

This is bad, bad, bad. This isn't a game, and if it was one, I'd be losing..

Valentine O’Dell and Ari Sharapov lived a completely different life during the day. When the sun came down, they became a different person who indulged in any fantasy their hearts desired. But what supposed to be something that’s separated from their real life became complicated when it came to the matters of their hearts.

She shrieked and shook, locking her legs around him as he tried to pound her through the table. Then he was coming, too, his body going stiff as she felt him throbbing inside of her.

Ari was one sexy asshole - emphasize on the asshole part, because sometimes he was just plain asshole lol! I liked Valentine and how she learned to survive. Both of them had great chemistry which led to scorching sex scenes. I especially loved the intense angry sex.

"You and I are cut from the same cloth, babe. Maybe from different tailor shops and maybe for different outfits, but definitely the same material.”

Story-wise, I thought it was a little cliché. I was hoping there’d be something that would set the story apart from the ordinary, so I’m hoping there’d be some major shakeup in the next book.

What We Do in the Night is a story of erotic indulgence and self-acceptance. It would appeal to readers who enjoy erotic romance with light kink.

Val is probably one of the nicest heroines ever and Ari is atypical in that he wasn't a manwhoring egomaniac. Together, they were fire. I liked this story although I think it would have worked better if it'd been a standalone.

5 Delicious Stars

I LOVED IT and in all capital letters. This author knows how to write the best and most delicious type of angsty banter. Especially between a sinner who wants control and a saint who wants to give her control away. And when the sun goes down, the saint and sinner come out to play.

Ari Sharapova is the sinner and boy is he scrumptious. He’s powerful, wealthy, very arrogant and always gets what he wants. Valentine O’Dell is the saint with a side of sinner. She is sexy, speaks her mind, works in a secret sex club and is doing her best to keep her real life afloat. So when two different worlds collide at Caché, a special arrangement is made between Ari and Valentine where all bets are off.

But as Ari and Valentine spend time together, feeling develop where there shouldn’t be. Their passionate and fiery banter only fuel their connection in and out of the sheets. Even though Ari is an arrogant ass, Valentine’s sweet and sassy self gets to Ari and they really do make a perfect pair, until, Ari messes up in a royally epic way and gets what he deserves. This book does end in a delicious cliffhanger that will only fuel the fire in the second book of this duet. I can only hope the time passes quickly.

For lovers of sexy, passionate, fiery banter this is a must read. This author doesn’t disappoint when writing arrogant alpha’s with spicy, sweet heroines. This story is filled with erotic passion, push and pull angst, sarcastic humor, compassion, sexiness and sass. If you have read this author then🎉, but if you haven’t, I implore you to take a walk on the wild side and read the talented words of this awesome writer, you won’t be disappointed.

Valentine “Val” O’Dell is a girl full of heart and soul despite certain events that have altered her life. Determined to persevere, she balances work, school and caretaking duties until one person comes along and makes it all go away for a while.

“I was just … surviving the best way I knew how,” she explained.”

Ari Sharapov was groomed to inherit his father’s law firm but has worked hard at establishing his own reputation. Not wanting any romantic entanglements, he prefers to keep his affairs transactional and detached.

“Making presumptions about me isn’t a good idea – probably something you should remember for future reference.”

With a chance meeting, Val and Ari are attracted to each other but both wear their own masks for different reasons. While agreeing to a temporary and mutually beneficial arrangement, the stakes are raised as boundaries are crossed and raw chemistry ignites.

“I want to chain you to my bed,” he said very simply. “And I want to do anything I want to you.”

Going into this book, I expected an explosive relationship between Val and Ari and it delivered on that point. Their push-pull dynamic was hot and led to some scorching scenes. Individually, I liked how Val remained committed to her family and was willing to make sacrifices. As for Ari, he definitely has swagger but it’s time he cuts some ties despite the consequences.

Overall, this story has interesting elements of balancing saint versus sinner. There were times when it lagged for me, plus I kept thinking of a particular movie and that made the story a bit more cliché than preferred. With book two coming in a few months, it seems like the author has something up her sleeve to round out these characters and the arching plot. How it will unfold will no doubt be a wild ride.

What We Do in the Night is a romance about two characters who are opposites but need each other to bring balance into their lives. This book will appeal to those who enjoy some angst, drama and combustible sex.

It was insanity just barely leashed. Possibly the gates to heaven, but more likely the entrance to hell.

Good. Girl works in a fantasy club. Guy sees her there and wants her. She’s not usually more than just a fun date at the club, but for some reason she feels more with him. Long story short they are from two different worlds and have so much in their way, but of course they still want each other.

I enjoyed it, but it just wasn’t next level for me. The plot was good. The story was good. The banter was ok. I just wanted the feelings I got while reading the twin estates series, but I didn’t. It’s a good read though, and I’ll probably check out the next one.

Valentine - like the holiday - has a very hectic, busy life. She is a college student. She lives with and cares for her grandmother who is slowly being taken by dementia. She also has two part time jobs to help pay for the medical care needed. Her daily life is weighed down in responsibility and routine.

One of her jobs is working at Cache, an exclusive, members only club where no night is ever the same and men can fulfil their every fantasy. Valentine is gorgeous and has a rocking figure, she enjoys dressing up and playing her part is making sure everyone has a good time there. However, there are lines she will not cross, she enjoys the flirtation and a great kiss but anything more than that is not on offer. Then Ari Sharapov walks into Cache and everything changes.

‘The looked like night and day. Two-different universes colliding. Like a big, big bang.’

Ari is a man used to getting what he wants and when he sets his sights on Val, nothing will get in the way. The attraction between them is ridiculously intense and it does not take long for Val to forget all of her self imposed rules and lose herself in this dominating, fuck hot man. Submitting control initially isn’t easy for Val but when she embraces it - she feels the weight of her responsibilities lift from her shoulders - if only for a few hours.

Ari has other plans for himself and Valentine. Once he has had her, he soon figures out that one night will not be enough for him. It’s like she was made for him, all of his fantasies packaged up into this gorgeous woman who is taken up real estate in his head. A proposition is made and Val gives herself over to him, exclusively - for a limited time.

‘She hated who she was when she was with him, but she was terrified of who she’d be without him. Lost and adrift in a wild chaotic sea, with no one to make her body come alive and her feelings burn.’

And then feelings decides to join the party. These two are from completely different worlds. Ari has his own issues to deal with and the way that Valentine has impacted his life is forcing him to face a few truths of his own. How much longer can they keep what they do in the night going before they have to cut their losses and walk away?

So this book ends with a lot more story to come, there isn’t a big cliffhanger but there is enough to whet the appetite in anticipation for the next book due out in September. It’s been a while since I read something smutty and a bit dirty so this was a welcome addition to my reading list.

5 "Completely ruined everything." Stars

Stylo Fantome digs back into her erotica roots and writes an invigorating, captivating darker tale of two separate souls from vastly different walks of life whose worlds collide into each other and completely combust. Both with plans now blown to smithereens we see these two compliment each other with Fantome's usual mix of banter, playfulness, passion and growth.

If you're into tricky, tortured, alpha heroes coupled with quirky, honest, determined heroines plus a host of interesting secondary characters this book, told from the dual point of views of both main characters, is a definite must read. A good girl masquerading as a bad girl and bad boy masquerading as a good boy = total combustion when they realize they're both just as bad as they are good. A story that's both taboo in the night and yet seemingly normal in the day that catapults into something wholly unique and intriguing right from the start. The budding relationship is doomed from the start on paper but the chemistry and passion both of these characters possess is perfect for this story and for who they are as individuals.

The setting takes place somewhere unique and interesting adding flair to the plot. And the plot with it's two-people-from-different-sides-of-the-tracks destined for either greatness or craziness flows naturally. I was engaged the entire time and read this book in barely two sittings. I was invested in the characters and their plights.

Stylo's writing, as usual, transported me right out of my comfort zone into a fantasy worthy of a great escape from day-to-day life. She tells the story of her great characters with honesty, humor, passion, and conflict. What We Do in the Night hails with Fantome's signature story telling stamp and promises to memorize and entertain.

★4.5 STARS★

It’s been a while since I last read a novel by Stylo Fantome and I’m not ashamed to say it was the cover art that first attracted me to this one. However, once having read the blurb I was more than attracted to the sensual intrigue it promised.

What We Do in the Night is apt in both title and theme of Valentine O'Dell’s life of late. By day she is a hard working student majoring in Design Management and at night she brings peoples fantasies to life at exclusive adult playground, Caché. Not quite a club, Caché is a place where people can either have an incredible night out, or indulge in a more hedonist experience if they so wish. It’s Val’s job as fixer of sorts to find out what it is the client wants, and to make sure they get it.

Val is a character I knew I was going to like from the outset. She has a story, and her circumstances have led her to Caché. But rather than let it affect her she grits her teeth and absorbs the blows that life socks her with. She’s not immune to being overwhelmed at times, which is why when Ari Sharapov makes her a proposition, she feels a relief in pressure and says yes.

When you take control, it means I don't have to be in control anymore. It means for just a little while, I don't have to be making the big decisions.

Ari is an asshole plain and simple. He’s successful, handsome and can turn most situations into one that is advantageous to him. He’s rather clinical in his attraction to Val. He acknowledges and wants to explore it until I suspect it wears off and he moves on. As we get to get to know him we realise that indeed he’s still an asshole, but it’s more of a device he uses with Val to mask his admiration and fierce feelings of protectiveness he has for her. Ari was once smug enough to think of Val as a commodity, and it was enjoyable for me and humbling for him to realise she is in fact his most valuable asset.

What We Do in the Night is a sinfully good exploration of desire and finding love in the most unlikely of places. It was addictive and pleasurable reading which left me on a high and desperate for the conclusion to Val and Ari’s story.

Genre:  Erotic Romance

❝ Things that happen during the night, need to stay in the night.❞

styloF.jpgwhat we do in the night

Valentine O’Dell was trying to get through life; working hard at night and going to school in the day while carrying for a sick grandma.  Life was hard considering all the responsibilities she had for being so young.

❝ The more time I spend being Saint Valentine, the more I actually become her, and she only exists in the night.❞

Ari Sharapov had money and worked hard for what he had but he wasn't happy.  The things he needed and craved for was something he found only at night until one day he found himself wanting it day and night.

❝ Just beneath the temptress; beneath her Saint Valentine facade.  He thought maybe, just maybe, deep down Valentine was a good girl.❞

This story was very Cinderella style, it was predictable but yet I found myself falling so hard for the hero and enjoying the chemistry between these two.  He was cocky and a total asshole but I liked it hahah.   I also really liked Valentine, she didn't gave up easily and despise all the baggage life had given her she learned to survive it.

Overall; What We Do in the Night is an excellent erotic tale of love and survival.  Readers looking for a light kinky romance story will find this book appealing.

Welcome to Caché, an exclusive club of debauched affairs and lascivious desires, where you can chase the darkest fantasies, binge on hedonistic experiences and satisfy untamed cravings of titillation. Two complete opposites—one rich, demanding utter domination; the other poorer, willing to submit—intertwined by insatiable lust and unrestrained affection; confined by an arrangement of convenience make this forbidden romance an irresistible intoxicant.

He was rough and aggressive and dominant. He probably tore his opponents apart in the courtroom, and he was no different in the bedroom.

I have a terrible obsession with foul-mouthed, asshole heroes—the meaner, the better in my opinion. Without doubt, Aaron “Ari” Sharapov is rude, conceited and cocksure of himself. Part of me wanted to despise this character’s self-centered and egotistical attitude, but the moment an unforeseen tender side is exposed in Ari, my heart melted and whatever he lacked romantically, he sure made up with an alluring, formidable sexuality.

She wondered if he had any idea that his idea of punishment was her idea of pleasure.

Valentine O’Dell self-sacrifices to ensure home life is somewhat easy. During the day, she’s sweet and demure, a determined college student in design management, but the nighttime is reserved for seduction and inciting the headiest pleasures to surface. Full of fire and ferocity, her resolute perseverance is an admirable symbolism of inner strength and unfettered devotion to family.

“You’re really bad at this whole fantasy thing.”
“I think it’s more that you’re really bad at this whole reality thing.”

Ari and Val have an irrevocable heated chemistry, twisted together by an irrefutable and intense, forbidden connection. He wants to dominate. She’s willing to submit. Despite coming across as opposites, Ari and Val are complex contradictions who are each other's perfect, sweetest counterparts. Fused together by an irresistible magnetic pull, this couple's dramatic relationship, together with Ari's unflinching obnoxious behaviour and Val's fearless innocent make the beginning of an interesting duet!

“When the sun goes down, you become mine, Saint Valentine.”

"Everything was so perfect, but then she had to fall in love, and I had to grow a heart."

Valentine O'Dell hasn't had an easy go at life. She has struggled most of her twenty two years. She lost her parents as a teenager, and then her sister drained her trust fund. With no money to her name, she moves from New York to Chicago to live with her grandma. About a week after she gets there, her grandma has a stroke and now requires round the clock care. The expenses are adding up, and this leads to her taking a job as a dancer/escort at an all exclusive club. She has just one rule though... No sleeping with the customers.

Ari Sharapov is a wealthy lawyer who works at his dad's firm. He is not a real fan of his dad, but works for him knowing one day the firm will be his. He works hard for all he has, and he plays even harder. The minute he lays eyes on Valentine, he knows that he has to have her. He pays her boss a large sum of money to have her exclusively for two whole weeks. With combustible chemistry and fiery hot banter, the no sex rule is soon quickly forgotten.

Valentine and Ari weren't your average pair. They were from different worlds and both equally flawed. They didn't just meet and fall in love with a happily ever after. No, their story goes way beyond the norm there. There is lots of angst, drama, a crazy jealous ex and steamy hot sex. I connected easily with these characters and enjoyed watching their relationship grow. The story-line flowed well and had me craving for more with each page that I turned. So I am giving you two big thumbs up and telling you that you should give this one a go.

4.5 Sexy Stars

‘This was the moment to walk away. This wasn’t a fantasy – no matter what he said or did, this was still reality.'

It’s been a while (too long judging by our reaction to this book!) since we’ve read an erotica novel and What We Do in the Night was the perfect book to clear off our erotica cobwebs. Wow! We loved this book so much! We inhaled every word, and it wasn’t just the erotica aspect that won us over so convincingly, it was the writing, the story, and the characters, the main and secondary, including one arsehole hero who oozed sex appeal, and a sexy heroine with sweet innocence and fiery passion.

‘The sun is rising – things that happen during the night need to stay in the night.’

Ari and Valentine were something else! This is one of those times we felt the heroine matched the hero in every way – both characters tantalisingly seduced us with their intense and alluring chemistry, which was off the charts electric, volatile and passionate and we lapped it up.

‘She wondered if he had any idea that his idea of punishment was her idea of pleasure.’

We’ve been huge fans of Stylo Fantome’s emotional storytelling, and after this first taste of her erotic offering, we were equally impressed! Her execution in What We Do in the Night is enticing, intoxicating, provocative, passionate, steamy and utterly addictive.

‘People swore they found religion in Cache. Others said they lost their faith.’

Valentine O’Dell is a twenty two-year-old woman with a mountain of responsibility. Having left a design school in New York following a betrayal by her sister, Val now lives in Chicago looking after her ailing grandmother attending school, working long hours and dealing with the financial burden of her Gram-Gram’s care. She’s exhausted and to top it off she has to partner in an assignment with an asinine spoilt woman who seems hell-bent on belittling Valentine at every opportunity.

Valentine was such a contradiction. Demure and innocent by day, sultry and seductive by night at her job at Cache, a living fantasy nightclub. Valentine catches the eye of Aaron (Ari) Sharapov, a successful ambitious lawyer who wants to occupy Valentines time solely for himself and he’s prepared to pay very handsomely for the privilege. He doesn’t want strings and Val needs the money..but at what cost?

“You’re really bad at this whole fantasy thing.”
“I think it’s more that you’re really bad at this whole reality thing.” Ari challenged her…

With trepidation, Valentine agrees to Ari’s terms and the heat between them explodes! Both Ari and Valentine are complex and contradicting characters. The ingénue who is no shrinking violet and the slick commanding, a man with a deep-seated vulnerability Valentines seems to draw out.

Ari – oh geez, this man! He could be a right bastard and certainly didn’t possess a lot of finesse where Valentine was concerned, and he was a right cock, but what he lacked in romance he more than made up for with his commanding, formidable sex appeal. Ari Sharapov oozed sex on every page!

‘He was rough and aggressive and dominant. He probably tore his opponents apart in the courtroom, and he was no different in the bedroom.’

You’ll love discovering what transpires between Ari and Valentine – the spirited innocence of Valentine, her need to relent to control and the unflinching obnoxiousness of Ari who desires control. The magnetic pull between the two, the dramatic effect of the story and the sizzling connection, will leave you begging for more, and as desperate for the next book as we are!

Val leads a double life. Student at a fashion school in Chicago and a dancer/escort at an exclusive club that provides for you’re every whim at night.

Ari is a hotshot lawyer that ends up going to Val’s club too meet with some co-workers. Let’s say he was less than impressed with the venue and more enticed with the someone they had to offer.

This story is about Val who has to take care of her ill Grandmother by day and Ari who wants to pay for her time during the night. But do NOT be confused... she is not a whore. *insert eye roll*

The author isn’t new to me and I enjoyed some of her previous work. This book had a really really great steam factor between the characters that I enjoyed.

But what I did not like about it was the fact she kept a saying she wasn’t what she really was... I mean come on some man is paying for your “time” that may just end with a happy ending?? Let’s be real just admit what you are and move on already. But I digress... there were some editing issues that kept catching my eye and was annoying. ALSO ends with a cliffhanger... I don’t think this book needed to keep going but it does.

Even with these issue I found the book interesting even if over the top and not at all believable for real life... but I mean it’s not supposed to be. And that’s what I love about the Romance genre!!

★4 Stars★

Stylo Fantôme is one of my favorite authors and definitely a one-click author for me. I loved all the book I read by this author. What we do in the Night is the first book in Day to Night Duet, and it was no exception.

Valentine and Ari were very different. They were like water and oil. The only thing they have in common is a passion, chemistry, desire, fire, and heat. It all started with a fantasy.

Val is not the typical heroine sweet and innocent you are accustomed to...NO. She has sass, she is fierce, smart, strong. Life wasn't gentle with her, and every time she thought all was going to be ok, fate hit her again. She is doing everything she can to take care of her Gran. Goes to school at day, and works at night.

Ari is one of the famous and richest attorneys and he is a bachelor. He is arrogant, cocky, jerk, a$$hole, hot and sexy. He has everything wants money, fame, success and a sexy girlfriend he can't stand, not to mention love, but he isn't happy. He wants something forbidden, something new and crazy, and so he meets Valentine.

When Ari and Valentine are together, sparks fly. They broke all the rules. The attraction between them is so strong and powerful, everything melts around them.

Imagini pentru sparks fly gif

All escalates and becomes complicated. All becomes more than a fantasy, more than desire. From fire is born heat and feelings...But they can never be together. Their worlds are too different...Can their love make it? Can something beautiful as their love can survive the cold ugly world?

I would've wanted more angst, more suspense, more twists, and turns. It was a great read, especially hot. I confess that I was expecting it to be dark, but it wasn't...AT ALL. Can't wait to read the next book and see how Ari's and Val's relationship works out.

I highly recommend!

I like this author and she wrote some great stuff but this time this story wasn’t a win for me.
I found it too predictable and too cliché.
The thing is that I can’t point anything wrong with it to justify my cold hearted reception and I feel guilty about it 😱 yup I actually feel bad because I can’t find any reasons why someone shouldn’t read this book, however I can’t find any reasons why someone should! Hence my impasse...

As if that wasn’t enough I’m going to read book two because I’m an OCD of epic proportions and also because I’m a sucker for pain.

I know I haven’t found a book good enough to satisfy my quench lately and I truly hope to be out of this funk soon enough because I honestly can’t stand my mean side 🤣

So how long do I have to wait for the 2nd part of this duet?????????👀👀👀👀

This is my first book by this author and it did not disappoint! This was like a more x-rated version of pretty woman without the prostitute!

I LOVED St. Valentine! She was a little spit fire but she was also soft and had a heart of gold. She was just trying to survive when she met Ari Sharapov. She was not living her best life but it could have been worse!

Ari swoops in and makes an offer she can’t refuse! Was he an asshole...YES! Was he controlling...also a yes BUT Val wanted someone that could control her and instead of her having to control everything and he wanted someone to control because he had spent his life being controlled by his father, friends, and his firm. They were a match made in hell!

However, feelings always get involved and the lines get blurred between business and pleasure. Ari didn’t think he had a heart and Val just busted right through his hard exterior and made him feel!

He was such a dick tho and made a HUGE mistake and now we are left with them apart and a massive cliffhanger and I have no idea when the next book will be released(which sucks balls😩)and an excerpt that has left me wanting more!

I think that this was a fabulous plot line! Two people, complete opposites, with outside forces doing everything to keep them apart. They have absolutely no idea how to navigate what they’ve become and I have a feeling that some secondary characters are gonna be the bane of their existence before the end of the second book!

All in all this was a hot freakin book and it totally makes me want to read more of this authors books!

Angst✨✨✨
Cheating None
Sexy Time ✨✨✨✨
Epilogue none its a cliffy😩
Plot✨✨✨✨

I'm indecisive about this rating because I liked this but at the same time it took me DAYS to finish WWDITN because I just couldn't continue, but it is a good book.

“I could've made you happy, Ari, and I would've done it for free.”

I'm not in the mood for a long review but let me just say Ari and Val were NOT what I expected, I started another book by the same author last year and hated it at the beginning so.. yeah, this one is different. So I was surprised to read a smut book in which the author gives the characters personalities and good backstories and makes them go on with their days, jobs, and college because usually in this category most of the scenes happen at night and there are at least 10 smut scenes out of nowhere.

I loved the characters, Val is such a bad girl but also a softie so she was easy to connect with. Ari was a bit harder to start liking but I got his motivations and it was enough for me to understand him.

So the Taylor Swift song for this book is obviously 'So It Goes' , Arival are so hot, can't wait to read the second book.

Damn! This book was sexy. It moved a bit slow for me in the first half. But in true Stylo fashion those feels slammed into when I wasn’t expecting it. Valentine O’Dell is a girl with a lot on her plate, but she’s independent and no matter what, she loves her life.

Ari Sharapov comes from a powerful family. He’s grown with the life of privilege and money but he’s far from happy. Meeting Val gives him that semblance of control he’s long since dreamed of - and for Val, letting Ari take that control (even for just a few hours) is a short escape from life and an answer for her prayers.

These two were explosive when they got together. But Ari had so many moments where he couldn’t help but be an asshole but even then Val’s attraction to him didn’t wain. Both are from different worlds but fit like a puzzle pieces to makes their lives better...if only Ari didn’t put his foot in his mouth when things were going good. I can’t wait for the next part of their story.

One thing is a constant in stylo's books- Be Prepared to have your socks knocked off!!
O.M.G where did Ari Sharapov come from!! This man Is a vicious alpha hole and legit has no heart.
Downright rude, handsome as the devil, if there was a male version of a bitch, he'd be it. Talk about building fantasy and destroying it in the next breath, he cuts down people to size- just because! He has an acid tongue and I was so pissed at him, so many times. Wanted to bash his head😡
But for his magic peen and the fact that he could write the book- 1001 ways to make a woman squeal! Falling for him is easy, it's holding his attention, is the toughest job on earth.

description

Which befalls upon sexy siren Valentine O'Dell. She works as an escorts in DelVecchio's club Caché, shakes her booty and drives men wild!
"Possibly the gates to heaven, but more likely the entrance to hell.
It was like Willy Wonka's factory, but for adults."

Some really serious fun went on this Underground Wonderland and any and every type of fantasy could be fulfilled here.
I fell in love with sweet Val, whose alter ego -Saint Valentine was like a proverbial Eve for all the Adams, a dangling carrot.

description

"The Patron Saint of love & plague- two things that ever take a break"
This girl's Mercury must be in retrograde, cause she never catches a break. So much is piled on her, I was feeling sad
What happens next is obvious and inevitable. A contacts signed, monies are exchanged. She gets the dough, he gets her Win-win.
Everything is fine and dandy till feelings decide to jump in and muddy the waters.
The writing is very cutting edge. Stylo has a flair for sharpness, she creates authoritarian heroes. It's their way or highway. Like Wulfric Stone, Ari is very abrasive, tenacious and ambitious. His head rules the heart at ALL times. Very compartmentalised, his two brains never fight. Well...until Val🥰
"You're my ... stress reliever. I could probably write you off on my taxes. You're doing a job, and nothing more. I don't want anything more, and you won't get anything more.”

description

While reading it, I felt a strange sort of thrill. My senses were buzzing throughout, lots of electric chemistry which projected on to me as a reader. the story uniqueness lies not so much in the plot but more in the handling. Sizzle factor reaches its crescendo before emotions plummet and the contrast in the sentiments made me frustrated. Ari is in denial and he makes a habit of breaking Valentines heart.
" An Asshole and a whore; Match made in heaven"
Stylo writes it with lot of verve and nerve. Hot & witty in one breath and hurtful and slicing in the other, the dialogues are crisp and stabby. It ends on a soft cliffy and I CANNOT wait for the next book to know how much shall Ari's knees hurt!

"A sinner and a saint, both at the same time."

You know the effect of the certain blue pill? Yeah, that’s exactly what reading Stylo's books is doing to me. And What We Do In The Night might be the hottest story she ever wrote. This book is the epitome of fulfilling desires and satisfying cravings. Welcome to the Caché- the place where you’ll find what your body and mind longs for!

Two people from different worlds.
Coincidental encounter.
An arrangement that will change everything.

This story is full of unrestrained lust and forbidden feelings. It’s also about founding balance. Valentine for once in her life wants to give the power to someone else. She needs to forget about responsibilities and obligations for awhile. Ari in turn craves to be in charge. His whole life was dictaded by his father and his deal with Valentine gives him what he needs. But things quickly are getting complicated. The lines are starting to blur. Because Ari and Valentine are made for each other not only physically... But any kind of sentiment was completely off the table. So can they just part ways when the time will come?

Mean, foul-mouthed heroes are my weakness. And Ari Sharapov is really, really bad. There were times when I wanted to slap him, but despite everything I fell for him hard. He’s possessive, controlling and arrogant. But he can also be caring. Valentine O’Dell aka Saint Valentine is alluring, seductive but also hardworking and devoted. On the surface they’re complete opposites, but when we start to peel their layers we can see that precisely these differences are making them so matched. They’re like missing pieces of puzzles- one’s lacking is the other’s completion. And don’t get me started on their sexual compatibility… Their intimacy was totally combustible! The scenes in this book were unbelievably passionate. After so many years of reading romances there’s a few things that can make me blush, but Stylo Fantome mastered writing intimate scenes to such an extent, that during read I need to take a break and either take a cold shower, or go and find my husband. No joking here.

What We Do In The Night is very seductive and riveting story, that will keep you hooked on every word. The storyline is captivating and you can fell the steam pouring from every page of this book. Add to that Stylo Fantome’s flawless writing and you’re set for a very enjoyable read.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Unrealistic, slightly predictible, and too long. I liked it anyway and had fun reading it! Reading a Stylo Fantome book is like watching a chick flick with an edge. Great entertainment. Sometimes I crave angst and drama and this delivered. I can't wait to get my hands on the next book.

I imagine myself being friends with Stylo irl. I can tell from reading her books she went through a party phase and I love it. Who knows maybe I'm wrong, it's just a guess. I feel like I can always tell if authors went through a wild phase by how they write characters who attend parties. There are small details they add that are like a wink and a nod. Stylo always includes those small details.

The OW drama wasn't offensive, but rather silly. I actually didn't think Ari was that bad, but I might be desensitized at this point.

Anyone who likes this premise (dancer working to support a family member, alphahole trope) should check out Better When It Hurts by Skye Warren, which was really well done.

Gawd this book. I literally cancelled all my obligations today just so I can finish reading it.

Entertained as always, can't wait for the next book!

Before reading (21/06/19)

So, I saw this on amazon with one review that pretty much confirmed one of my fears: it ends in a cliffhanger. I honestly don't want to read this yet, at least not until the second book comes out because if it's the same as the kane trilogy, the second book might just be the best one. It's when intense grovelling happens and when the alpha catches feelings.

gawd at least i hope that's what happens...

I do have a feeling that I'll end up reading this first book in the next couple of days...

Review by Lisa Kane

Valentine O'Dell has struggled most of her twenty two years. First she lost her parents, then her own sister drained her trust fund. She moved from New York to Chicago to live with her grandmother. At least she could continue her studies at design school. Oh wait a minute, about a second after she got there, her grandmom had a stroke and a serious fall. Ever since, Valentine has worked to take care of the two of them.

Where does she work? She works at Cache.

There were underground clubs, and then there was Cache. Off the map, unlisted, almost impossible to find-it was invite only, and not many of its patrons were willing to share such a special place with their friends.

Valentine dances there, fills in for the odd job or two. Of course, a girl could make some extra money if she wanted to-but so far Valentine hasn't gone that route.

A couple of guys come in one night, wearing masks of all things. One is harmless enough, but one...well he catches her eye.

She's paired up in class for a project with a total rich bitch. The two have a ton of work to do outside of class and they meet up at Harper's (the snotty girl) swanky apartment. Just as she's about to leave who walks in...yep hot guy without his mask.

"Valentine, huh," he said in a soft voice. She nodded without looking up.
"Yup."
"...like the holiday."

She's good and caught now. Nobody knows about her job at Cache. But that's about to change.

Ari Sharapov is a rich lawyer who works at his father's firm. He's worked hard for all the has, but there have been some major perks. Like the luxury apartment and sports car that the firm pays for-he may not be a fan of his father's but someday this firm will be his. He dates Harper because it's easier than listening to his father go on and on about aligning their families into a profitable marriage.

But Ari knows a good thing when he sees it and he wants Valentine.

"Ari...I mean, Mr. Sharapov, she said in a soft voice. "He said he wants to be my exclusive client for the next two weeks?"

This is when the story really flies. Valentine is so different from Ari's world. And that's why they are perfect for each other. Ari can be himself with her, and she can relax and not have the whole world on her shoulders.

Now this is a Stylo Fantome story-I mean have you read the Kane Trilogy?

"I'm not...you're not...I don't know these people, I'm not part of your world! That's a job for a girlfriend, not a whore."

I can almost hear the cracks in my heart.

Good girls did not end up in places like Cache. He just had to keep reminding himself of that fact. She'd already been working there long before he'd ever shown up, and had escorted who knew how many men. She was no angel.

Can I please just land one punch on this guy?

This book killed me...seriously, I had such a love/hate thing going on with Ari.

He'd become accustomed to a certain way of life, and he wasn't willing to give it up, not for Valentine. Not for anybody.

Come on, just one punch.

I will not post any quotes that jackass says. They cut too deep and I can't get them out of my head. But one does reap what one sows and Ari is about to tumble.

She could be the actual incarnation of a saint sent to live here on earth, and he would still be the goddamn devil.

So you are going to leave me up on this cliff, dangling from a ball of rope until September?

Well played Ms. Fantome, well played.
