A Daring Journey

Rate this book
This is the sixth book in The Dare Ménage series ... [This book can also be read as standalone].

Two paths: one new, one familiar -- and -- a burning desire to choose them both ...

When Damon spots a stunning redhead on his plane, the pilot’s determined to get to know her better. It’s been a long time since he’s experienced an instant connection with anyone. The last time was with his former lover, who left without an explanation over five years ago, devastating him. Though now cautious when it comes to relationships, MacKenzie just might be everything he’s looking for and more.

Not expecting to meet the tall, dark and handsome captain on her flight home, Mac finds Damon’s domineering persistence a turn-on. She decides to take a chance on him, which, in the end, might be a mistake when a person from his past returns. A man Damon loved and still does.

The last five years had been dark journey for Trevor, and he’s now ready to return to the light. He’s back in Boston to not only ask for forgiveness but to reconnect with Damon, since he still loves the man. However, there’s a complication. Damon is seeing someone else and Trevor might be too late.

Note: This book includes an HEA ending, and is intended for audiences over 18 years of age since it includes MMF scenes between all three characters.

5 star review of A Daring Journey (The Dare Menage Series #6) by Jeanne St James

In my opinion, this series gets better and better with each new release. This story is about pilot Damon, the beautiful MacKenzie (Mac) and Trevor, the man who broke Damon’s heart.

Damon is attracted to a beautiful redhead who captures his attention on his flight, finally deciding that it is time he moved on, he cannot believe the connection he feels for Mac.
However just when things are finally going their way, Trevor, the man he loved with all his heart and soul suddenly returns.

What will this mean for the blossoming relationship between Mac and Damon? Will Damon be prepared to listen to Trevor’s explanation and find it in his heart to forgive him? Will Mac decide to withdraw from Damon?

The chemistry between all three of the characters was intense and overpowering and there were times I needed a fan to cool down. However, this is not just a hot and spicy book, it is a book that has depth and emotions and one that really got to me on numerous levels.

There were times that my heart just about broke reading this story. The pain and rejection that Damon felt when Trevor left him years ago, for all that Trevor went through, for Mac who might loose the man she has fallen hard for; it all makes for an emotional roller coaster of a read.

I really loved MacKenzie, her passion and her willingness to fight to have both men in her life was inspiring. She could easily have bowed out but her determination and strength of character was admirable and I was cheering for Damon, Mac and Trevor to get their happily ever after.

This book was well written, tugged at my heart strings and is perhaps my most favourite book in the series to date.

This is the sixth book in the Dare Menage series, and personally, I think it gets better with each book. They are not only hot storylines, but they're emotional as well. Triads from the previous books show up in this one and play a role, but you could read this as a standalone if you're new to the series.

MacKenzie (Mac), Damon, and Trevor might just be my favorite triad of them all so far. Their journey was filled with healing past hurts, forging a new relationship, and finding a new normal. My heart hurt for Damon. He was wrecked when Trevor left him years ago and still continued to be, although he thought he was ready to move on. However, my heart broke for Trevor and all he had endured and felt about himself and about love since he left. I can't imagine going through all he did to get back to his first and only (maybe?) love. Mac was the rock for both of them. She was in such a delicate position, and it would have been easy for her to get lost to Damon and Trevor's rekindling, but she stayed strong, allowing her growing feelings for the two men to guide her (and ultimately all of them) to the relationship they desired and deserved. The handling of Trevor's past, how he revealed it to the two of them, and their reaction to him was beautifully written.

There is one scene, one part of a scene really, that some might take issue with. When the three first explore with each other, Damon is concerned for Mac. His inner dialogue has him saying they won't be doing anything without a condom until Trevor is retested; until all of them are tested. However, in the next breath, Damon is encouraging Mac to take Trevor in her mouth, sans condom. This did seem contradicting and unsafe, especially considering that was Damon's whole concern. Don't get me wrong, the overall scene was hotter than heck and had me fanning myself. I just thought people should know going into it so they won't let it negatively impact their thoughts on the overall story and their review. This is a series that is wonderfully written and I'm already ready for the next book.
*I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. This is my honest review.*

Simple, visceral story about trio consisting of normal people. By simple I mean there's no intrigue of impossible kind that would make Mexican soap operas cringe, and which seems to be standard nowadays for the genre. And by normal people I mean no one is a billionaire, millionaire or whatever rare. One of them is a pilot and that's the top status ubermensch in this book achieve. Quite enough. Almost achievable for the rest of us. Very identifiable, and that's why I love it so much. Lots of raw sex does help too. I'm also starting to appreciate honest, no holds barred communication in the manner executed in this book. Like, yeah we're going to fuck the three of us senseless, up the wall, accross the room, down the hall and outta window, but let's first talk about all the details and have double the experience. Words can be... miracle.

McKenzie , Damon and Trevor their journey to become a triad was expertly written ...
I couldn't put this book down it had everything I love and I devoured it ...

Two men who had previously been in a relationship with each other had been apart for five years.

McKenzie (Mac ) met Damon a Pilot on her recent plane trip she is a confident redhead full of fun.

Trevor who is Damon's ex is a masseur who does have magic hands !
How the three get together to then see themselves as a triad how they work out the trust and honestly they need to be together as their life....

Such great chemistry between the three in and out of the bedroom ..

It is the first book of Jeanne St James I have read and honestly it definitely will not be the last.

WOW! That is what comes to mind immediately after finishing this book. Damon, Trevor, and MacKenzie are a perfect symphony for healing. Jeanne St James seamlessly brought you into a world where you are not only cheering for a new romance that is full of so much promise but also cheering for a happy ending for a love crushed too soon. I could not put this book down! I have read all the other books in this series and this one is by far my favorite which is saying a lot considering I’ve loved them all! Come meet three completely different souls, that compliment each other in the most unexpected ways. I cannot believe this journey is over! Another wonderful book by Jeanne St James!

2 stars... the funny thing, it was good until the threesome, and let me tell you why... 1. The female and the male with whom she isn't in a relationship because he's the ex of the man she's actually dating...try to test if they attracted to each other by kissing while the other doesn't know - that would be a no go for me- but yeah on the other hand both male characters kiss behind the back of the female...all before they agree to be together...2. The man she's dating comes to her home to tell her she's the one he wants- not his ex, 5min later he can't choose anymore and wants both 3. All of them decide it's best they try to test if the chemistry in the bedroom fits between all of them because that obviously is the most important part. It doesn't matter that both male characters are separated 5 years ago. One was heartbroken because he was left without a note and the other one has at least 4 dramatic years to bear... But do they really talk??? Yes after they fucked.... That was the most stupid thing... First i mean since when does attraction beats feelings and feelings develop with time and second no communication but fucking? I have no problem with fucking but then for gods sake, don't create such huge drama beforehand...

A Daring Journey is the sixth book in the Dare Ménage series written by author Jeanne St. James. This was the first book that I have read in the series, and even though several of the couples appeared, I had no problems following along. Each book in the series focuses on a different polyamorous couple and can be read as a standalone romance.

A Daring Journey tells the story of Damon, Trevor, and MacKenzie. Mac was flying home after visiting her friend Gia in Arizona. While exiting the plane, Mac meets Damon, the pilot, and their chemistry was pretty hot.  Their first date was at a quiet bar but Trevor, Damon’s ex-boyfriend, also shows up.

Damon hasn’t seen Trevor in five years, and he has no desire to talk to him again.  Although Mac wants Damon to listen to Trevor’s side of the story. That way Damon can clear the air and be able to move forward. But can he after hearing what happened to Trevor?

The final installment in this 6 book MMF series. Yet again, a bit of a different spin on the dynamic of the characters. This was a Bi male pilot, seeking to date a female passenger he saw on a dating app once before. They are just beginning to date with the mans long time ex who disappeared many years before with no word shows back up and wants him back. In the name of winning him back, the ex seeks out the female to get to know her and ends up feeling very attracted to her as well. She is ready to back off and let them try to work it out as she senses the history and love, yet she also wants to see what it would be like with both of them. Together they bring the plan to the man of the hour and at first her is hesitant but decides to give it try. It doesn't go without some complications, but in the end, they also get their HEA.

3.25⭐️’s rounded up.

It seemed this book/plot flew by in 300x FF and then it was done. It was enough to understand the characters, kinda, and understand their dynamic, kinda, but not enough to feel like anyone reading could identify with or understand fully any character in the book.

It was good, but too “aloof”(?) in any kind of development (characters, back stories, current life, even their friends!) to have any kind of strong opinions on it.

TBH, I liked the book, but not enough to remember it later.

This book is about love and forgiveness and coming out of the darkness to find joy and happiness once again. When Mackenzie is getting off the plane she is stunned to see the captain is one if the people greeting the passengers as the exit the plane. He is super hot and domineering - a great combination in her book! They decide to exchange phone numbers and eventually arrange a date. That is where his ex shows up after being gone for five years with no explanations wanting forgiveness! He tells Trevor that he is on a date and they leave to go somewhere else for their date. Eventually their is complete forgiveness and total love between the three if them. This is one if my favorite books from Ms St James so far! I read this book as an ARC and thus us my honest review.

She writes good menage and the first half was very good with well-written emotional growth. However, the second half of the book seemed rushed especially towards the end.

I am a huge fan of menage romances. I can not believe I have not discovered this series The Dare Menage Series from Jeanne St. James until now. This is the sixth book in the series and I am sure that I have some serious catching up to do. However with that said this book can be read as a standalone. I am sure that I was reading about some characters that have been in the other books but you do not feel like your missing anything. It just makes you want to go back and read all the good stories that I do believe are in this series since A Daring Journey was so amazing. This is the story of Mac, Damon and Trevor. Years ago Damon was in a relationship with Trevor and they were very serious until he up and left and did it with no explanation. He just disappeared and Damon hasn't heard from his since. However the man is ready to put his heart back out there and has used a dating app. The one person he contacted ends up being on his flight back to Boston and he recognizes her once he thanks her for flying on the airline as all the passengers are getting off. MacKenzie is so drawn to Damon and can't figure out why she wouldn't have messaged him back. Then again she got more pics and crazy messages than she did good and she just ignored everyone but Damon she ignore because he was bi-sexual and she was sure that he was just playing the field. Turns out he wasn't and these two have an amazing connections from the get go. However when he is meeting Mac for their first date Trevor finally finds him and wants a second change. However there is no way that Damon is forgiving him and not giving Mac a chance. Will all the pieces all in to place for these three and them find a way to exist together. Or will they just end up not giving each other the chance they so badly want? You have to read to find out. I devoured this book and loved every second of it. It is so well written by Jeanne St. James that you will not be able to put it down. Like I said in the beginning, now I want to go back and experience all the books in this series. No way are they not as good as this first read of hers for me.

If are not sure if a Menage romance book is for you but you want to try one then Jeanne St James is in my opinion one of the best Menage writers for you to begin this journey of discovery.

A Daring Journey like the books before each deal with the emotional impact of going down the path of being in triad - this book especially is thought provoking as it deals with a woman 'Mac' who although like most of us has thought about what it would be like to be with two men didn't really think it would be a reality - Damon the alpha of the group who although likes women the love of his live was Trev who left him without warning 5 years previously while he try to fight demons they hunt is waking and sleeping life.

When Damon meets Mac on the flight he has piloted the pull towards each other is strong and Damon has only ever felt that once before and that was with a man. It turns out that Damon had tried to have a date with Mac through a dating agency that they both were on but because he was Bi Mac was not interested. However, the chemistry between the two cannot be denied and after spending an incredible night together Damon believes that he and Mac can have a chance of future although he still has feelings for Trev!

Trev - God Trev what he has gone through in the last 5 years is shocking - yes the book touches on this hence the reason it is for 18 years and over but it is so beautifully written that your heart is with Trev as a person not a character in a book. After getting his life back on track he is determined to get Damon back and prove to him that he can be the partner he needs, but he was not expecting that Damon had moved on with a Woman.

The book follows the journey of the 3 who are trying to come to terms with a situation none of them thought they would ever be in. But at the end of the day will they all choose to be together or will the pressure be to much for Mac as she fights the knowledge that the 2 men she cares about the most have a strong bond that maybe she can't be part of while Damon and Trev try to prove that this triad can work!

I can't wait for the next book in the series!

What do you do when you are meeting a gorgeous woman who has taken over your thoughts for drinks only to stare into the eyes of your ex? What do you do when that ex vanished five years ago with no word and now is begging for a chance to apologize, explain? Damon doesn't want to open himself up to his ex, Trevor. He has finally moved on and Mac is quite possibly the one. She is funny and sweet, caring and sexy. When Trevor keeps pushing to speak with him, it is Mac who urges him to listen. Can an attraction between two people blend with a love between two others and form an amazing bond?

I haven't read a ton of menage books; I have liked quite a few but some fell short in terms of emotion and mental intimacy. A Daring Journey isn't one of those. The connection that you experience between Mac and Damon is palpable. They click on so many levels. Mac wasn't sure that she wanted to get involved but Damon is too tempting by far. When Trevor comes into the mix, Damon's pain is a living entity between the two men. When Mac sees how much they still love each other, her strength and compassion is what brings them together. When its revealed why Trevor left and where he has been just broke my heart. A Daring Journey was an intimate and beautiful story of a true relationship and partnership between three people. The sexy times but also the reality of day to day and the work you have to put in keeping that connection strong. This is a standalone story but I really loved my time spent with these characters. I will definitely be going back and reading the rest of the books in the series. 5 stars for A Daring Journey!

How can you keep me engaged in a book? Have Jeanne St James write it. There is something about her writing style that I absolutely love. It keeps me coming back for more. This series has been a fantastic ride, and this final chapter in the series is amazing. Damon, a pilot spots the feisty red head, Mack on a his flight, but it's not the first time he has seen her. What a story that turns into! The attraction is mutual and he has finally found the spark he has been looking for. Trevor, his ex-boyfriend is back and after his own battles would like to try again. Now decisions are made, attractions palpable and lives melded together in a way that is caring and sensual. I can't say enough good things about St James in her ability to write a story. She can take a sensitive topic, like mental health and carefully weave it into her books. Not only do we get this trio learning their way together, but real life issues involved that also need tending and nurturing. I love this as it gives such a basis of authenticity to the developing relationships. Add in getting to see all of the past characters with their families and enjoy learning where they are now it's just a treat! I have really enjoyed getting to know them all!

As always, St James is careful with her choices of narrating teams, and picks the best voices for her books. This team is amazing. Sean Crisden, Ava Lucas and JF Harding know how to filter down onto their characters and find the essence of their personalities. It's an incredible listen.

4 1/2 STARS!

Emotionally raw! My first read by Jeanne St. James will most definitely not be my last! With the next book in her Dare Menage series, she brings us the story of a sexy pilot who meets a woman who interests him just as his ex re-enters the picture. The banter is sexy and playful between Damon and Mac and once Trevor shows up, it turns emotional. I would have loved to see a bit more of their day-to-day lives spent together thrown into the mix a little bit, but overall it was a really great read.

Pilot Damon Brooks is floored by the instant connection he feels to the gorgeous red headed passenger he encounters as they're disembarking the plane. He flirts with her and exchanges info because he's determined to see her again.

MacKenzie Donovan isn't looking for a man exactly, but she's finding his domineering persistence a little hard to resist as Damon pursues her. She finally agrees to a date and can't believe what a good time she has with the guy. Guess she's on board after all!

Just when things are heating up between them, a blast from Damon's past comes back ... namely his ex-boyfriend who disappeared on their relationship without a word five years ago. Damon isn't happy to see him, but Trevor is determined to beg for his forgiveness, explain his abandonment and see if there's any hope left for them.

I absolutely love this serues and yes they can be read anyway you want but i really urge everyone to read them in order.

So this book is unlike any others it takes you on an emotional plane ride... sometimes love is emotional messy complicated it takes work to build a solid foundation.

When Mac gets of the plsne with her friend Gia she never expects to find the most handsome pilot ever Damon. They have instant chemistry amd Damon realises he has seen her before on a dating app well one thing leads to another and with a bit of help of her friend they meet up.

Damon never expects to feel this type of attraction again after the libe of his life left him ne never thought he would see him again till he walks in on the day he has his date with Mac.

Trevor wants his man back he knows he did wrong but he has been through hell and back... if he cant have him he wants Damon to be happy so he goes to meet the woman that caught his one true loves eye. After an enlightening conversation they come up with a solution thats if Damon agrees.

This was a truly amazing book that kept me glued throughout, I have to say i shed a few tears for Trevor lordy that poor man.

This book to me is about a new connection; exploring a new romance and finding someone who completes that part of you that is missing. It seems seamless and the spark of light is growing. It is also about facing your past hurts and learning to forgive even when you are unsure of the future. It is about a journey, learning who you are again and dealing with how you got to where you need to be. It is about learning to trust and taking risks even when your heart is on the line.

My heart ached, my breath hitched, my fist clinched, my laugh was loud, and my eyes watered during only just the first half of this book. The second half of the book, I was hopeful and cheering for the trio to find their balance and move forward together. This book was one of the most wonderfully written stories about all the above but also about the love shared between a triad.

I think I have read just about every one of Jeanne’s book and this one ranks very close to the number one position for me. I was given this book for my honest review, but I will be purchasing it for my bookshelf because I honestly love it that much. Well done Jeanne, well done.

A Daring Journey by Jeanne St. James is book six in her The Dare Menage Series. A Daring Journey can easily be read as a standalone. For best reading experience I recommend to read the books in order. The previous books are Double Dare; Daring Proposal; Dare to be Three; A Daring Desire and Dare to Surrender.
A Daring Journey is Damon, MacKenzie and Trevor's book. Damon and MacKenzie meet at a flight and he recognizes her as the woman who stood him up on a dating site. She's majorly turned on by his alpha behavior and takes a chance on him. Their chemistry is high, but when a third party shows up the mix becomes complicated. Trevor and Damon share a past and Damon still loves him, but he's also drawn to MacKenzie.
A Daring Journey is a scorching hot nsfw read and the characters have sizzling chemistry. The writing is great and I could feel the characters emotions in the words, and that's what makes it difficult to connbect with them. I was happy for Damon and Trevor, he could lay his demons to rest. But MacKenzie was too plain and I thought of her as the third wheel. All in all it's a good read. 4 Stars.

I absolutely loved this ménage twist on a second chance romance

Damon and Mackenzie (Mac) have chemistry from the minute they meet on his plane and it only grows the more time they get to know each other. Feeling like this could be his second chance at finding love, Damon is unprepared when Trevor unexpectedly returns to his life.

They had a relationship of dreams, or so Damon thought, until nightmares from Trevor’s past caused him to run. Sensing there is still a connection between the two men, Mac decides to step away from Damon even though her feelings have only gotten stronger. But an encounter with Trevor soon has her seeing him and their situation in a whole new light. I loved how determined she was to not only help the two men reconnect but also find her own happiness with them.

Damon is a bossy alpha with a heart of gold, Trevor was beaten down by life but never broken, and Mac is the strong, beautiful sassy woman who holds them all together.

The best surprise was the catch up with my past favorite ménage trio Gryff, Rayne and Trey. Who were there to not only dish out great advice but also bring the laughs.

This book is the sixth book in The Dare Ménage series. It can be read as a stand-alone. I haven’t read the first five, but I am now.
The world that’s created in this story is wonderful and captivating. Most people would expect dark taboo with this genre, but Ms. St. James delivers a wonderful realistic setting. It makes it very easy to place yourself into the story, and find your place in this world.
Damon, the sexy confident pilot meets MacKenzie (MAC) on her flight. You can feel the spark and energy between the two of them.
I love that nothing is rushed, but at the same time it’s not drawn out, it’s perfect.
The long lost Trevor makes his appearance, and even though there is history, and the story of his disappearance, you can’t help but be intrigued by him and you are left wanting more of him.
This brilliant author delivers on every level in this story. Her way of telling their story, and the supporting characters tidbits make you feel as if you are there and experiencing all of the emotions in this book.
I could not nor did I want to put it down. Fantastic installment of what I know to be a phenomenal series.

As with other Jeanne St. James books, this story exposed the kind of love that is simultaneously "shout from the rooftops" yet a soft whisper, controversial and yet somehow normal and everyday. In the finale of her "Dare" series, St. James highlights yet another skill: her ability to take a few tropes (second chance, menage, Insta love) and somehow come up with a story that's neither cheesy, clichéd, unbelievable, nor over the top. With Damon, MacKenzie, and Trevor, you don't really focus on the fact that they're a trio; the way they're written, all you see (read) about are people who fell in love who just happened to be a trio. It takes special skill for a writer to enable their reader to look past the controversial topic and just get to the core: love.

This book, to me, represents bravery. The kind of bravery to love so fiercely. The kind of love that is paved by pain, forgiveness, openess to love again, to move forward but also to take steps back.

Brava, Ms. St. James! Thank you for giving your readers the gift of love in its myriad forms. Thank you for humanizing love in all its unique facets.

Hot & Heartfelt - Jeanne St. James did it again - hooked me on 3 character arcs that I just had to know from the opening sentences what was going to happen to these beautiful people and how they would get their Happily Ever After (HEA). This "Dare" series had me captured from book one and I'm so glad I stayed hooked for the ride. However, I was not expecting in this book was the heartfelt twists to Trevor's story & how integral Mack would be to helping Damon overcome their past. I felt so overwhelmed listening to their discussions of what Trevor put himself through and why. But Mack was a force of logic and heart, just what I'm looking for in the female leads, especially in a menage story.

What puts Ms. St. James books over the top is her fantastic choice of narrators! Ava Lucas is always top notch in both her caring and her steamy / sensual voice. The guys, Sean Crisden & J.F. Harding made me really connect with the male POV - it's always so moving when you can feel the pain the characters are experiencing when the narrators push the envelope in their performance. Great job & I'm leaving this in my library for future re-listening!

This is the sixth book in the Dare Ménage Series and it can be read as a standalone. It has been five long years since Damon has been in a relationship when he runs into Mac who reignites that feeling of passion for another person on one of his flights. Mac is a strong, independent woman who is not looking for anything but cannot deny that there is something pulling her towards Damon. All is going well until Trevor, a man from Damon’s past, shows up and throws a monkey wrench into the newly formed duo. Ms. St. James has written a dynamic storyline illustrating the challenges facing couples whether they are first building a relationship or trying to rekindle an old one. The emotions that she puts her characters through, will strike a chord in any reader and have him/her rooting for these people to come to a beneficial resolution for all involved. It is about learning to trust and opening oneself up to love. Once you start, you will not be able to put this book down.
I volunteered to read an advance copy of this book.

Menage is one of my favorite tropes, but it's also one I think is done poorly many times. Not so with the Dare Menage Series. The sex scenes were HOT and not at all typical. Each story varies in the sex-to-story ratio, but they each give you the HEA you're expecting. This particular story was my favorite out of the series. The characters had more depth and caring interaction with each other. (Mostly about Trevor's situation.) I loved all three of them!

The audio version is narrated by the same narrators throughout the whole series. (Thank you!) They are some of the best, so you don't have to worry about getting turned off by their voices. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys menage stories. It is MMF, inter-racial (BM, WF, WM) with all three characters being comfortable and interested in bisexual/menage encounters without having to be "talked" into anything.

I was provided audio review copies of the entire Dare Menage series (YES!) by the author in exchange for honest reviews. Thank you Jeanne St. James!

🎧Audiobook Review🎧

Rating: 4 strong🌟

Audiobook: 3 amazing narrators that did an amazing job bringing this story to life. Love that the audiobook actually had 3 narrators when it had 3 POV’s

Storyline: In this 6 book series this and book 5 was my favorite books. As I said in my review of book 1 in this series I’m a sucker for a good MMF story and I can now say that this whole book series didn’t disappoint. Book 5 and 6 had more depth in the story and background which I appreciate. Really good writing.

This book covers healing from a past with bad “BDSM”, and the struggle that can come from that in future relationships. It also includes struggles and hiccups a MMF relationship can bring.

The reason this don’t get a 5 star rating is that I felt that the story had more potential but then it would have been longer.

If you like MMF with a storyline that isn’t just smut but has a good amount of smut in it (and good smut 🙌🏻) this book is definitely a book worth reading or listening to.

Damon, Mackenzie and Trevor. I loved the dynamic between Damon and Mac from the start of this book. She is a passenger on his plane and the sparks fly as he’s posted to say goodbye. She wasn’t interested in a relationship but Damon might just change her mind. Trevor is from his past. I wasn’t sure how to feel about Trevor. He disappeared without a thought to find himself. Damon was left wondering. Once the three of them find themselves attracted to each one in this unusual situation, there are some super emotional conversations. I was riveted to find out some motivations as to why the past happened the way it did. I loved seeing the previous couples in this series offer advice to them. This trio really came out of left field and I loved how they worked through what was needed. Jeanine St James never disappoints when it comes to emotional reads. She also writes some of the best and hottest bedroom scenes.
