I love second chance romance stories but excessive family interference always seems to lose my interest. An enjoyable read but it wasn't really my bag. I do seem to judge a book by it's cover.

My Blue by Emery Jacobs (ARC) was graciously provided to me by Buoni Amici Press for an honest review. I have voluntarily read this book and have provided my honest opinion.

(*teaser courtesy of the author*)

"An Emotionally-Powerful Read"

An exquisitely beautiful and tragic story about a young immensely tangible forever kind-of-love, filled with loss and desolation, dedication and sacrifice, and, absolute whole-hearted devotion..

Wow..a powerhouse of a story that utterly blew-me-away with its heart-warming, indescribably heart-shattering, profoundly gripping, and mysteriously intense moments has just landed on my list of Best Reads for 2019.

I am thoroughly and completely frazzled at the magnitude of my most recent read of an upcoming story that will undoubtedly have many readers at different levels of stunned amazement as a result of this tremendously deep, mysterious, heart-breaking, and, ultimately heart-warming story.

My Blue, by Emery Jacobs is such a great story with an amazing storyline with a no-holds-barred kind of riveting plot, with main and secondary characters who are so easy to love and also so easy to develop that actual need to gently throttle.  Its pace and fluidity contained words with such humanistic qualities that in turn languidly wrapped themselves around me as I read through this stunning story with its immense storyline, unforgettable characters and vigorous plot.

Even though this story was such a great read, it also contained moments that, in this reader's opinion, needed more depth and development as they appeared to be either glanced over with seemingly uneventful or lightly touched upon solutions, and for this, with the existence of a few typos, has this reader hoping for more.  Despite this hopeful need, this story still remains a good one that is without-a-doubt a highly-recommended read as I really liked it..:)

Ella Blue & Leo Matson have loved each other for a long time. Sadly, on her seventeenth birthday her dad decided to be a huge dick and send her packing because he didn’t like Leo for her.

Fast forward 8 years and she’s back in town. Leo is completely unaware of her arrival and utterly shocked to see her. But then she disappears again and this time when she comes back she’s got no recollection of her time apart from him.

While he’s trying to help her get her memories back they (mainly him) are cautious to fall back into their old love, all the while hoping for her memories to come back but also scared of what they’ll learn.

*this is a very sweet, easy read! I love their connection and the fact that their isn’t a crap ton of unnecessary drama! Lol

Leo and Ella Blue, two teenagers in love and eight years of circumstances.

My Blue by Emery Jacobs is a wonderful romance novel that takes the reader through a series of emotions from the time you meet Leo's Blue on her 17th birthday until you read the epilogue. Leo and Ella's relationship is marred by parents, best friends and circumstances out of their control. Emery kept me hooked on this storyline as I tried to figure out who did what and why and how it was all going to play out.

Leo with all of his unspoken words had me internally yelling at my Kindle saying Leo, just tell Ella how you feel! Leo "loving Blue is one constant neither time nor distance will ever change." My Blue will have you falling in love and rooting for Leo and Ella Blue's happiness and Emery Jacobs does not disappoint!!

My Blue is a super sweet second chance romance that’s packed with mystery and suspense. I was flying through the pages trying to unravel the mystery of exactly what happened all while enjoying how sweet Leo and Ella Blue were together. While I really did overall enjoy their story there were some things that held me back from really falling in love.
Mostly that boils down to it felt like most of it was rushed. Things move at a lightning fast pace and there were moments because of it that just seemed to not really fit what little I did learn about certain characters due to the lack of details that goes along with such a fast pace.

Oh Mylanta! I'm keeping this short and sweet. READ THIS BOOK. You will fall in love with Ella and Leo. You will be on the edge of your seat with anticipation, wanting to know what will happen as you chew on your fingernails until there is nothing left of them (I speak from experience) If you want an emotionally involved, second chance at love story, this is that book. Pick it up. Right now. You will not regret it!

I did receive an advance copy of this book, but I love this book so much. I purchased my own copy, and you should too!

Second chance romance that was good but to me still needed more. Ella Blue and Leo were childhood sweethearts and from different family backgrounds. They were inseparable until things happened and they were separated. Fast forward 8 years when they see each other again but things are different. At times it seemed liked Leo didn’t want to completely reconnect and poor Ella and her issue it was prolonged to long. Not bad but it could’ve been better.

Thanks to the author for this book.

I can't remember the last time I finished a book almost in one day nor such a sweet love story. This was sort of a YA book (started when Leo & Ella Blue were 17 & 18) when they when they were wrenched apart due to Ella's parent sending her away. I loved that he called her by her middle name Blue.

Here it is 8 years later, in their 20s, Ella is back in TX, singing with a band and Leo finds her again. All of a sudden Ella loses all those years of memories due to a type of amnesia.

They've always loved each other and it was inevitable that they would get back together.

A lot of bad words and one sex scene but nothing too sexy except almost at the end.

My Blue is a book that will pull at your heart strings. Ella Blue and Leo are in love and happy. He is close to graduating high school while she still has a year left. She is trying to talk him into going to college and she will follow, but he knows that college isn't for him. While trying to promise her forever, the cops show up and arrest Leo. Neither one knows why he is being arrested and the cops won't tell him. While he is in jail overnight, Ella goes home and is confronted by her parents. This is where the first heart break occurs; her parents say they believe her, yet they force her to leave town and threaten Leo if she ever contacts him in any way again. The next morning, Leo shows up wanting to make sure that Ella is okay and her father threatens him.
Eight years later, Ella comes back to town. He tries to talk to her, but is too late, due to his car being stolen. When he gets a phone call from her new best friend, his life is turned upside down. Ella doesn't remember anything from the last eight years. He wants to be there for her, but he doesn't want to risk getting his heart torn out and stompped on all over again.
This book takes the reader on an emotional roller coaster. On one hand, you want them to get back together because they were torn apart. On the other hand, you don't want Leo to get hurt again, because he doesn't know that she was forced to leave all those years ago. He believes she left of her own volition. While trying to get her memory back, Leo and Ella grow closer, but things seem to go from bad to worse. As she starts getting little snippets of memory back, she starts worrying that Leo will walk away.
I didn't want to put this book down. I had to find out what caused Ella to lose her memory. I also had to find out if there was any way Leo could get his Blue back. A wonderful story about young love that was ripped away and the journey to find their happiness.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.

Nothing gets my attention quite like second chance romances and this one sucked me in and didn't let go. Leo and Ella Blue have been best friends since childhood and in love almost as long. Unfortunately, her parents, her father especially aren't happy with their daughter dating Leo. He will stop at nothing to make sure that he controls his daughter's life. He succeeds on the night of her seventeenth birthday and neither Leo nor Blue will ever be the same. Fast forward eight years and Ella comes home, hoping that she can finally get some closure. Unfortunately, she is found wandering the streets after being missing and has amnesia. Leo never forgot his Blue but after so long he had given up on love. Can Leo finally get back his Blue?

This was an intense romantic suspense that kept me guessing. The romance is still the main story but the situation with Ella's parents, the past and why she lost her memory really kept me turning the pages. I was desperate to find out the truth. Leo and Ella really loved each other and were ripped apart so cruelly by her parents. It had to have been so devastating to them both. I loved the connection between them and was praying for their happy ending. I would have liked to have known why she waited so long to come back to her hometown, why she made the choices she did in those years apart. When all the unknowns were revealed, it was very much a triumph for this reader as I had suspected the outcome and was correct. If you love a good suspense with your romance, you need to check out My Blue!

This book was provided by the author through Give Me Books Promotions in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Emery Jacobs and Give Me Books Promotions!

My Blue
is the first book I’ve read by Emery Jacobs and tells the story of Leo and Ella Blue. They’ve known each other when they were younger and all of a sudden Ella Blue had to leave. But now she’s back…

I really liked the story and the pace of the book. I read this book in two days because it was just such a quick read and I really wanted to know how the book was going to end. Even though I read the synopsis of the book, the book still surprised me. I really liked the amnesia thing so that Ella was back in the past.

Leo and Ella are both enjoyable characters. I really liked getting to know them and I really liked their story. I love second chance romances so this book was just perfect for me. I really liked that we got a glimpse of their past selves and present selves because then you can really get to know the characters. Ella changed a lot, but in a good way and I’m happy that she decided to play in her hometown. Leo is just handsome and I like that he’s trying to be the good guy in the situation.

My Blue was an amazing and enjoyable read and I cannot wait to read more books by Emery Jacobs!

An unforgettable romance, this book is magnificent in every way.
Ella and Leo stole my heart with their timeless, captivating Love.
But like All Epic Love stories there are always obstacles and Circumstances that will hinder the way,and this is no exception for Ella and Leo.
A second chance romantic suspense,my Blue will have you on the edge of your seat with its intriguing plot, clever storyline and twisty surprises.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, Emery Jacobs as created an emotionally charged compelling tale that you will not be able to escape from,or put down.
Loved it
I Highly recommend it.

Ella Blue & Leo have a love that is as old as time, a perpetual love that cannot be stopped no matter who or what gets in the way. But soon their love will be put to the test and hopefully they come out on top. But Can Leo step back into the same role and find the love they once had after 8 years apart? Will Ella Blue still want Leo like she did not so long ago? Love will find a way where there seems to be none.

Emery Jacobs is a new to me author and I must say that she just gained a new reader with the way she has written about true love, and a second chance to have what you lost. I love how her story line with Blue and Leo was heartbreaking but also showing how love always finds away, even if it takes different routes. Thanks to Emery Jacobs my TBR file just got a little bit bigger, and yours will to when you read My Blue by this talented Author.

This book is definitely different from what Emery has written in the past but it’s so good! It’s a second chance with a little suspense and puzzle pieces to put together kinda book, which I love! Plus we get a little bit more Beau which never hurt anyone lol

I also love the fact that you get excited about other characters and the possibility of spin-offs!

Another fantastic story well crafted (not to mention well written!) by Emery. I cannot wait to see what she has for us next!

Second chance small town romance
Best friend to lover
Bit suspence and mystery

I'll say My Blue have good premise for plot. But I think the author didn't put enough kick in it to make it amazing.

I like the little mystery surrounding Blue accident. And then to what happened to Leo eight years ago that separated them at first place. I wish the author explain more about why the father hate them together so much more.

This second chance romance from Emery Jacobs was a wonderful read from start to finish. My Blue is the story of Ella Blue and Leo and how they find their way back to each other through circumstances that play out during the book. Not only do we have the struggle between them but there is an element of suspense since there are unanswered questions that play a part in how everything happens. Clear? Just go and read this wonderfully written story to see a love that lasts!

Absolutely love it! It was so intriguing. I was on the edge of my seat, just waiting for the story to unfold. It was emotional as well. I cried, got very angry ,mostly with Ella's parents and just couldn't believe how the story unfold. An amazing read. Couldn't put it down.

Ella Blue Kincaid has been in love with Leo Matson for as long as she can remember but her father disapproved of him and sent her away. Now 8 years later she has returned home to Idlewood, Texas but has found herself in the hospital with no memories of the last 8 years.

Leo Matson has never gotten over losing his best friend and the love of his life Ella Blue and is shocked when he shows up at The Bait and hears her with her band The Velvet Dolls. Yet Leo also remembers the warnings of Ella's father and knows he has to keep his distance.

But when Ella wakes up in the hospital asking for Leo he knows he will do what it takes to keep her safe. Will Leo risk everything to make sure Ella begins to remember? Will Ella remember the events of the past before she makes a mistake that could cost her everything?

This was a great filled with love, second chances and some mystery.

I really liked Ella Blue and I hated what her dad did 8 years ago in order for him to control her life. I thought it was super interesting that she was in a rock band as I'm pretty sure that was not something her dad would approve of. I also wondered what was really behind her deciding to go back to Idlewood after so may years apart.

It was mysterious to why Ella lost her memory for the past 8 years but it led her back to Leo who was safe for her. Leo was shocked but he vowed to help her even though everyone was worried about him due to the threats from Ella's dad. Leo was truly a great guy for everything he was willing to risk in order to help her.

At a certain point you get the return of Ella's parents which turned quite explosive! I was shocked at the things her dad said and I was surprisingly happy with how her mom may have actually had her back a little. I was super proud of Ella for sticking up for herself.

I was definitely suspicious of the appearance of one character but then everything fell into place.

I felt a little disappointed with everything that happened with Wade and I felt like at the end there wasn't enough dedicated to him and not enough justice. I felt like that whole part was just an after thought and I would have liked more written there.

The end was good and as it should be!

I want a second chance at falling in love with you for the first time. ~Unknown

“You’ll always be my Blue, no matter where you are.” - Leo Matson

Leo and Ella Blue are inseparable; they have been ever since they were young children. As they grew, so did their feelings for one another. Ella Blue knows she loves Leo, and that Leo loves her. On her seventeenth birthday, Leo and Ella Blue go to their favorite location: Redwood Park.

As Leo begins to ask Ella Blue an important question, they are interrupted by Leo's friend, Wayne; he has shocking news... News that will shatter Ella Blue's heart, and alter Leo and Ella Blue's lives in unimaginable ways...

Arrested for a crime he didn't commit, Leo is frantic to get to Ella Blue and reassure himself that she's OK; that they are OK. But life has more disappointments waiting. Ella is gone, and Leo has learned that if he doesn't let her go, he'll be incarcerated indefinitely.

"It’s something I have to do, even if it breaks me. I’ve gone too many years not knowing if he’s okay. I need to see him. I need closure. " - Ella Blue

Eight years have passed; Ella Blue is no longer the scared, obedient teenager that she was when she was forced to leave her childhood home and the boy she loved. Ella Blue is back in Idlewood; to perform, to see her family, and to have her final goodbyes with the boy who has held her heart for the last eight lonely years.

"This is who we were—Ella and Leo against the world. This is love, even if it’s no longer real. It’s what I need more than anything." - Ella Blue

Leo must find a way to connect with Ella Blue, to make her understand it wasn't his choice to cut all ties. But when his opportunity arises, it's under completely different circumstances than he had anticipated. Ella Blue has amnesia, and has completely forgotten the last eight years. Will Leo and Ella Blue find themselves trapped by the past, or will they forge a new future, together?

Haunting... A love story that transcends the usual and takes you on a journey; one of self-discovery and forgiveness, redemption and understanding. Highly recommend!

Ella Blue and Leo are high school sweethearts who have grown up together and have loved each other basically their entire lives. On the night of Ella Blue's 17th birthday, she and Leo are celebrating together when he is arrested without cause. She appeals to her father, who sends Ella Blue to an all-girls boarding school in Florida and threatens Leo if she ever contacts him again.

Eight years later, she is in a band and has a concert in her old hometown. Leo is shocked to see Ella Blue on stage, but she leaves before he can get to her. She disappears and turns up two days later disoriented and with amnesia. Her last memory is her 17th birthday with Leo eight years ago. Together they try to work out what happened to her and piece together not only that night but the previous eight years of her life.

This book was pretty good, but I had mixed feelings reading it. In the beginning, since Ella's first instinct is to go to her father for help, we assume they have a good relationship. However we're blindsided by the cold tyrant he really is. There is no backstory of her family life at all.  The main story of the book is perfectly frustrating, in that it's not easy to figure out what happened to Ella Blue the night of the concert. However, at 85% in we still don't know and I was starting to think this was a duet and I had missed that information. The story gets wrapped up fairly quickly, though, and there is still room for an epilogue in that last 15% of the book. We still have the unanswered question of what happened initially in Ella Blue's relationship with her parents to go from loving and happy to the tyrant and the puppet against their daughter.

Overall, a good story but the ending seems rushed.

This book had me within the first chapter. Blue is head over heels in love with Wes and vice versa. They truly are soulmates and on her 17th birthday, just as she thinks he is about to propose Wes gets arrested. That same night when she gets home her horrible father sends her away.

Once Wes gets out of jail he goes straight to Blue's house where he confronts her father and he's told she chose to leave. It crushes Wes but he hopes that their love is strong enough to someday reunite them.

Fast forward eight years and Blue is headed back to her hometown with her band. While on stage at a local new bar, Wes spots her and is truly crazed to find her. The rest of the book is them trying to find their way back to each other. This was such a well written and developed story. I could feel Blue's pain of not remembering and I could feel Wes's heartache of having her back possibly short term. I got so immersed in their love story. The wrap up to their story was rushed and I feel like there are things that did not get closure. Situations in the book had such description and depth that I felt the ending that they got didn't satisfy me. I was really disappointed and taken off guard by the abrupt ending. It was such a great book and really deserved just as great of an ending. To me the ending left me slightly disappointed.

Emery Jacobs' has such a way with words. My Blue is really unlike any other book that she has written. This has an intense mystery feel to it that I loved. It made it so that My Blue was really a compulsive like read. I really loved the emotional and seriously full of feelings that just radiates from the page. Jacobs certainly makes Ella and Leo work for their HEA. I thought Miss Jacobs was really creative in the development of this story. The way she portrays Ella and the way Ella remembers only Leo... it just felt destined. Actually, destined is a perfect word for My Blue.

I removed a star only because I really wish that Miss Jacobs had dived a bit deeper into some areas of the book. I don't know, there was just some areas that I would have loved a bit more depth, some more development and it would have been perfection. I'll be real though, even with those small issues, this book is nearly perfect. Miss Jacobs has some incredible writing and her storytelling methods keep me entranced from beginning to end.

I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.

It was a very short and fast book to read, but still provoked intense emotions!
In the first chapters we see two teenagers in love, 8 years before the current time, Ella Blue and Leo. It's Blue's 17th birthday and Leo was going to ask her to marry him when her parents have Leo arrested for a crime he didn't commit. They make a deal, she goes away forever and never talks to him ever again and they have the charges dropped. Blue's father is the mayor of the city and an idiot.

8 years later Ella is the lead singer of a band and Leo sees her singing and tries to go after her, but she disappears. A day later Blue appears without current memory and she thinks she's still seventeen and only trusts Leo.

They get closer as she tries to find out what happened to her that was traumatic enough to erase her memory. And at the same time, they fall back in love.

I was very upset at how ease Blue's parents were forgiven. And while I enjoy the story, I think the mystery of what happened with her could have been better worked on. They fell back in love too fast as well. But that's my problem with short books. The story is really cool, I loved the protagonists, but I wanted to hit many other characters hahaha. It was my first experience with the author and I really appreciated and want to see more.

Ella Blue & Leo were teenagers in love, but on her 17th birthday, her father stepped in to separate them permanently, and Leo never knew why his Blue disappeared on him. Fast forward 8 years, Ella Blue comes back to town with her band, and it shocks the hell out of Leo, who hasn't gotten over her. However, the next time he sees her, something happened to her, and she has no recollection of the past 8 years. Her last memory is of them on her 17th birthday. He doesn't know what to do because neither of them know where she went, or what's she's been doing. So yeah, this story was crazy intense, and Emery Jacobs wrote it so beautiful, yet addictive, that there was no chance of me putting it down until every last page was devoured. There were so many twists on the road to Ella Blue recovering her memories, that I was dropping f-bombs right & left. Not to mention, what really happened the night that she lost them?! Added in are secondaries who all seemed suspicious to me with the who mysterious circumstances going. AND, I really wanted all involved the night of Ella's 17th birthday to pay big time. So if you want to know how this story all pans out, you know what to do. One click on My Blue, as I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
