We are currently accepting applications for the positions below. Experience is not always necessary - instead, we are looking for enthusiasm to learn and transferable skills.
With the exception of peer reviewers, which are accepted on a rolling basis, the deadline for applications is midnight on the 10th April 2023. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to an interview via video conferencing. We anticipate that the short listing process will take approximately two weeks.

Positions currently open for application
Senior Editors
This is a unique opportunity for any UK medical student or junior doctor with an interest in medical publishing to develop their editorial, peer-review, leadership and management skills. You will be trained by and work alongside the current Editors-in-Chief to manage a national medical student journal. You may also attend various conferences to represent the journal throughout the year and you will be leading a large team students and junior doctors.
Section Editors
Responsible for managing the editorial process of submissions to their section of the journal. They will conduct an initial review of each paper, rejecting papers at this point if unsuitable or poor quality. The section editor will be responsible for appointing two peer reviewers for each paper, managing the peer review process, and then making decisions once the reviews are received. The Editor-in-Chief will make the final decision based on the section editor’s recommendation and review reports.

Peer Reviewers
Peer reviewers play a vital role in the editorial process, ensuring that The British Student Doctor maintains a high level of quality. Peer reviewing also provides excellent experience for those wishing to pursue an academic or research career, or for those wishing to build their CV. We are always looking for peer reviewers to join our team.
