We condemn Clarion's decision to sack a vulnerable member of staff citing sickness reasons during the Covid-19 lockdown where there is virtually no chance of him finding alternative employment. This seems particularly cruel given that the member has a documented mental health condition and this decision to take away his livelihood is likely to have a further negative impact on his wellbeing. We have raised this with Clarion and they have refused to pause proceedings stating their position is supported by the staff council.

We support Unite the Union's calls for Clarion Housing Group to temporarily suspend all disciplinary, capability and formal sickness absence meetings until the COVID-19 "lockdown" is over.
