With only 2.8% of American pastors 'willing to apply the Bible to current issues', it is no wonder so many are unwilling to hold voter registration, make what they consider "political" announcements from the pulpit, post articles about current issues on their web sites, or personally engage in the public square on moral, and ethical issues that affect us all.
With such disengagement from real world realities by our pastors (and the Biblical passages that apply), is it any wonder that only 10% of Christians have a Christian worldview, and little more even read the God inspired Scriptures on a daily basis?
We naively and ignorantly elected secular, unbelieving, and godless candidates all the way from local school boards to state legislatures and federal office for at least six decades!
As 'salt and light' believers in Christ with the eternal truth of the Bible in our possession, we turned over the 'education' of our children to unbelieving secularists who systematically removed any mention of God from the textbooks, insisting instead that we are all a product of time, chance and primordial soup.
Apparently that was okay, along with the removal of prayer, Bible reading and those terrible Ten Commandments on the walls of the schools lest they mess up their minds. In time, they were replaced by the promotion of the latest political fads, including perversion talks by invited LGBTQ and transgender story tellers for the indoctrination of our K - 12 children.
Keeping up with the Jones's, making money, paying taxes, and having material things to live the good life was more important than home or private Christian schooling our children so they would know their creator; the enlightenment of eternal truth, the existence of good and evil; and how to tell the difference, was not a priority. It was 'okay' that God was replaced by a theory of origins that has no basis in fact. It was foolishly believed to this day that our children could weather this onslaught of hedonism, and come out 'okay'.
What is the saying? "How has that worked out for you?" And more importantly, "How has that worked out for our children?"
Where were you pastors?
Why didn't you speak up in your churches, the public square, at school board meetings, in the halls of Congress and State Legislatures? Are you not the moral conscience of the nation? Our moral and spiritual shepherds with the Word of God in hand?
The Prophet Hosea, speaking 'the word of the LORD' to the priests of Israel and Judah, wrote, "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge," and then wrote, "because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a
priest to me. And since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children" (Hosea 4:6), (An expression of the consequences of their actions. The priests and their flocks lost them. God did not).
A few verses earlier Hosea wrote, "Hear the word of the LORD, O people of Israel; for the LORD has a controversy with the inhabitants of the land; there is no faithfulness or kindness, and no knowledge of God in the land; there is swearing, lying, killing, stealing, and committing adultery; they break all bounds and murder follows murder. Therefore the land mourns, and all who dwell in it languish.... let no one contend, and let none accuse (God), for with you is my contention O priest" (Hosea 4:1-3)."
When the Shepherds fail to teach the knowledge of God in the power of the indwelling Spirit of God, as did David to his brothers before he took down Goliath, and instead succumb to loud mouth Goliaths whose leader is the fallen angel, the people are easily led astray and destroyed.
Repent, pastors
and
priests
!
Fall on your faces! Confess your sin and fear of man and misguided priorities! Seek His face in brokenness and humility! Turn from your wicked ways, and then maybe God will restore the 'savour' to your witness and grant you the 'light' of His Life to once again stand in your pulpit in power and truth. That is what your sheep want and need.
A bold, Spirit filled, and fearless pastor who leads by example! Maybe then your congregation will arise, and likewise repent so that the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob can fill them to take back what Satan has stolen. May God be Glorified once again in America, "
lest coming suddenly He find us sleeping." (Mark 13:36)!
