The greatest baseball play of all time

This is exactly why baseball fundamentals have deteriorated over the years. That should have been the pitchers ball to handle, and the catcher with the bases loaded should have stayed at the plate. Then once he retrieved tha ball it's obvious he blocked the runners access to the plate. Why wasn't there a replay? As for the hitter, it's obvious there is no future in baseball for him. Very poor hip rotation, and obviously has no desire to implement launch angle and exit velocity into his training regimen. Sadly in about 13 years he will still be the Twins 2nd round draft choice.

I dunno. Unassisted triple plays are rarer than perfect games. That being the case, the coach pretty much had to send that fourth runner - the odds of an unassisted quadruple play have to be close to zero. You always want to put pressure on the defense, and this required the catcher to make two long-odds plays in a row. But somehow our latter-day Bill Wambsganss found a way and achieved baseball immortality anyway.
