Anatomy Training Programme Details
The Anatomy Training Programme (co-sponsored by the Anatomical Society and the American Association for Anatomy) is designed to help you in all aspects of your professional development by integrating anatomy training and pedagogical skills with your biomedical research programme.
Of the four modules included in the course, two are offered each year, but they can be done individually. This allows you to personalise your programme to fit in with your own biomedical research and teaching demands. The centralised online resource and course syllabus allow you to work at your own pace with a mentor at your home institution. Mentors and trainees then gather in the summer for a one-week intensive course at Cambridge University to solidify the concepts developed at home and to qualify for a certificate.

There are two components to the Programme:
Training at home includes self-directed learning under the guidance of a mentor, who is a teacher of anatomy at your institution. The Programme provides a syllabus and online electronic learning aids. You will have the opportunity to practise your skills in the classes that your mentor teaches. When you’re busy with research, anatomy may be set aside, while more intense anatomy study can be done in quieter periods. The Programme can be completed in two years. The modules for Limbs and Head & Neck alternate with those for Trunk and Neuroanatomy:
2022-23 - Limbs; Head and neck Summer school dates confirmed ATP1- July 17-19th, ATP2- July 19-21st.
2023-24 - Trunk; Neuroanatomy
2024-25 - Limbs; Head and neck
2025-26 - Trunk; Neuroanatomy
Each year—usually in JULY— there is a one week, intensive Residential School at Cambridge University, run by a team of anatomists with support from clinicians. Your admission to the Residential School will depend upon satisfactory completion of the yearly programme, as determined by the ATP Committee, in light of your mentor’s assessment of your progress, and satisfactory submission of your reflective learning portfolio. The Society also offers a generous bursary scheme for members of the Society.
