Our practice is looking for a fantastic qualified veterinary nurse.
The Bilton Veterinary Centre is looking for a qualified RVN to join our friendly team. We are looking for someone with good confidence in all aspects of routine nursing.
This includes anaesthesia, in-patient care, nurse-lead clinics, and clinical skills, along with client education including ideas for social media and website content.
Ideally we are looking for someong to work 30hrs/week but we are happy to consider applications for FULL TIME or PART TIME roles. We are also happy to consider FLEXIBLE WORKING patterns as well.
We are the
oldest established practice in Rugby, having been formed over 75 years ago. We used to be a mixed practice but for the past 12 years have been purely small animal. We aspire to offer excellent veterinary treatment and client care. We do most work "in-house" but do refer out if the need arises.
We have recently become part of the Independent Vet Care family of practices and so we are welcoming all the benefits and investments that this can bring!
Currently we have a great team of ten veterinary nurses working alongside the seven vets. The vets have particular interests in Orthopaedics, Soft Tissue Surgery, Ophthalmology, Imaging, Cardiology, Feline Medicine and General Medicine.
The nursing team is developing interests in
Physiotherapy, Anaesthetics, Dentistry, Behaviour and Pain Management.
Our single site practice offers ample opportunities for a variety of roles to be undertaken from within one busy hub.
Where possible, we really encourage our nurses to follow their interests and build up their own area of expertise.
We are also ISFM Cat Friendly Accredited too!
We work out of single site and so there is no branch work. We have five consulting rooms, large main waiting area and a specific cat waiting room. We also have separate cat kennels, a separate large dog kennels and even a separate small furry ward too! We also have a recently refurbished dedicated isolation suite too.
We have two sterile theatres, and two dental/dirty stations too. Along with the usual equipment we have also invested in:
We also have ample on-site staff parking too!
Further development of your skills and interests are important to us. In order to help you progress we offer:
We have regular in-house CPD sessions from external providers and are planning on doing more internal training sessions as well.
We are a busy practice and so your days will be varied and interesting! A good work-life balance (in what can be a highly stressful profession) is really important to us.
The FTE role is a 40hr
week with a variety of available shift-patterns.
Our working day is 08.00am to 19.30pm with a variety of shifts to cover this.
We are happy to consider either 5 days of 8hrs shift, or 4 days of 10hrs shifts with a day off each week. Pro-rata Part-Time applications or job shares can also be considered.
The Full Time Salary is up to £30,500 depending on experience and years qualified.
We have recently changed out out-of-hours provision . After 7pm at night, any new calls are diverted to Vets Now (either Coventry or Northampton). Using Vets Now, clients receive an excellent extension of care. We can transfer in-patients to Vets Now, if we feel that they would benefit from continuous supervised care. However, low-risk or stable inpatients can be kept at the practice where they are checked by one of two current nurses at 10pm.
We feel this gives the best balance of patient care as animals are only moved if it is entirely beneficial for them.
At weekends, we run a normal service until 1pm Saturday, after which again we utilise Vets Now for any further urgent or emergency cases for the rest of the weekend. We do have a nurse and vet available until 16.30 and this is so we can manage any surgical/diagnostic cases that have come in on Saturday morning.
Nursing duties for weekends are:
These are shared out evenly between the entire nursing team on a rota system.
We are exceptionally proud of our practice, and it has a great reputation locally. Our thriving Facebook Page , along with the raft of Google Reviews and Vet Help Direct reviews are testimony to the standards that we aim to achieve.
An interest in Social Media work would also be an advantage to our team!
Rugby is ideally situated for motorway networks and rail links in all directions. We are surrounded by lovely countryside and despite being quite a way from the sea are lucky to be next to a large reservoir. Travel into neighbouring Leamington and Coventry as well as Rugby gives lots of options for entertainment and amenities.
