Statement
Mr. Zhengyu Hu is a highly accomplished structural engineer with 25 years of experience in the AEC industry and is recognized for his extraordinary contributions to the structural engineering profession internationally. He is an IStructE Fellow and holds the Fellowship of both ASCE and SEI/ASCE. He licenses to practice Structural engineering in Canada, US, UK and China. He joined IStructE Ontario Regional Group (ORG) in Canada for 10+ years and has been serving as an IStructE Council member and the Chairman of the IStructE-ORG since 2020. Being a Marking Examiner of IStructE Chartered Membership Examination for over 5 years and a member of the Global Activities Division (GAD) Inter-Organizational Collaboration committee of ASCE/SEI, he’s a natural-fit in position of presenting IStructE and interacting with other influential professional associations and plays an important role in developing the strategy to internationalize the Institution and the interests of IStructE members in Americans.
How will you contribute to achieving the Institution’s objects and strategy?
Having been involved in many committees and groups of IStructE, I have a good understanding of the the Institution’s objects and strategy and its aspirations to becoming a truly international organization. Being an Adjunct Professor of the department of Civil Engineering at Toronto Metropolitan University, I give career advising talks to engineering students on a regular basis and encourage them to join the institution as Student Members; Based on my involvement in both IStructE and the Global Activities Division (GAD) Inter-Organizational Collaboration committee of ASCE/SEI, and my professional reputation in the structural engineering industry in Americas particularly in Canada and the United States, I can contribute greatly to promote the Institution in Americas and to assist in developing the strategy to advance the modernization and internationalization of the Institution.
