Navigating Early Medieval Europe (NEME) is the web portal which provides access to the Rural Riches Database on archaeological sites and attestations in written sources dating to the Merovingian period (450-725 CE) in Northern Gaul (the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg, the German Rhineland, northern France). It is created by the Rural Riches project financed by the European Research Council (ERC) under grant number 741340 at the University of Leiden (Netherlands) as primary beneficiary and the Université de Liège (Belgium) as second beneficiary.

Notice:

This is the first phase of making the content of the database available. It contains a lot more data. This phase concerns the basic information on the archaeological sites. New sites and additional data on existing sites will be added. The portal will continuously be updated to make ever larger parts of the database accessible.
