Title:
There I Was! The Importance of Transition Training in Preventing LOC
Topic:
Transition training can help a pilot handle emergencies and threats, which are often compounding factors in LOC.
Date and Time:
Friday, August 21, 2020, starting at 19:00 Eastern Daylight Time (16:00 PDT; 17:00 MDT; 18:00 CDT; 13:00 HST; 15:00 AKDT; 16:00 Arizona; 23:00 GMT)
Speaker(s):
Sarah Rovner, FAASTeam Lead Rep & CFI
Brief Description:

Transition training is one of the most important things a pilot can do to be prepared in a new type of aircraft. A few weeks ago, I executed a safe emergency landing after having an engine failure in a Baron while giving instruction to the owner. A few hours before that and only 10 miles away, a new RV8A owner landed on a highway after fuel starvation with one empty wing tank and one fuel tank. While many see transition training as merely an insurance requirement, it can make a large difference in the pilot's ability to handle unanticipated threats and emergencies, which are often compounding factors in Loss of Control. Ride along and see why transition training is so important in preventing loss of control!
