Earlier this year, we had the pleasure to have Abdul-Kazeem Shamba on board for 10 weeks! Kazeem has been working part-time on the automated monocular depth estimation for data collection in our soon-to-be-announced aquaculture system! 🌊 He is finishing his Master's degree in Marine and Maritime Intelligent Robotics at NTNU Trondheim 🎓 Also, this bright mind holds a master’s in Applied Machine Learning and Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University and Nile University of Nigeria respectively. Kazeem, or as his friends call him, Shamba, is from Lagos, Nigeria 🇳🇬 Previously, he has been studying both in France and Rwanda before he got into NTNU. - “If I could solve a global problem today, it would be to provide quality education for everyone. Quality education has a positive ripple effect on other global problems”. He´s passionate about machine learning and has a dream to establish multiple connected science and technology institutes for young minds in Africa 🖥 ⚗ His spare time is used on football, gaming, and watching history documentaries. But the most valuable time spent is when he reads about medieval history and coding AI models Kazeem is a proud Nigerian highlighting the rich cultural diversity and the beautiful natural scenery 🏞 He misses the Nigerian cuisine and the communal life in his hometown but thrives being a student in Norway. To our surprise Kazeem does not have the impression of Norwegians being anti-social people, but a smiling people. - "Everyone is smiling at you. From the restaurant to the grocery store to students on campus, everyone you meet welcomes you with a big smile" 😄 He wanted to work with Pure Lobster to gain experience and develop skills to be used for his future aquaculture business cultivating different species of fish in Nigeria 🐟 Also to work in an interdisciplinary group working with technology products from different angles from start to finish. We wish Abdul-Kazeem Shamba the very best of luck with finishing his master's thesis, and hope that our paths will cross soon! 💚
