Dr. Giresh Kanji

Dr Giresh Kanji is a Musculoskeletal Pain Specialist and Researcher. He explored the sensory amplification of pain in his Ph.D. including the role of the human stress response. He has presented in NZ, Australia, Tahiti, USA, and Europe.

Giresh is an honorary Senior Lecturer at Auckland University, the chairperson of the NZ Pain Foundation and editor of Australasian Musculoskeletal Medicine. He is the author of “Fix Your Back”, “Fix Your Neck Pain, Headache and Migraine” and his new book “Brain Connections: How to sleep better, worry less and feel happier”.

The book explores the role of childhood trauma, stress, and the links between stress-related symptoms and fatigue, concentration and dementia. In the book, he outlines the five habits that reduce the activity of the stress brain and improve insomnia, anxiety, and depression. Dr Giresh Kanji has spent the last four and a half years researching the science of insomnia, anxiety, and depression. People with depression have many structural and physiological changes compared to people without depression. Fortunately, all the changes are reversible with treatment.
