My Story

Hello! I am taking on the TCS London Marathon in 2023 for SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity. I've chosen them as they are a charity who I owe my everthing to and here is why...

After marrying in 2008, my wife and I decided we wanted to adopt a child. Being in the military and serving overseas meant that this felt a near on impossible task but, fortunately, we were recommended to contact SSAFA and started the process straight away. With their support, we were lucky enough to be matched with a beautiful, bue eyed 7 month old baby boy who we have had the pleasure of loving for the last 10 years. He has brightened our lives and that of those around him. When we moved back to the UK in 2015, SSAFA supported us, once again, as we felt we were able to offer another child a loving home. This time, a beautiful baby girl who was 11 months old. To say that we are fortunate is an understatement and my wife and I wonder every day how we got so lucky. Without the amazing charity that is SSAFA this would never have been possible - how else can we show our thanks but to help raise money and keep this fantastic lifeline of a charity going.

For those who do not know of SSAFA: SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity is a trusted source of practical, emotional, and financial support for serving personnel, veterans and their families in their time of need. In 2021, trained teams of volunteers and employees helped more than 66,000 people, from Second World War veterans to those who have served in more recent conflicts, or currently serving (both regulars and reserves), and their families. They help families and individuals in many areas of their life, from emotional support to family help.

I would be honoured if you are able to support me in this fundraiser,

Thank you.
