About this event

Is your child interested in STEM?

Does your child enjoy creating and designing?

Renishaw is offering FREE, online STEM-related courses to inspire the next generation of engineers in collaboration with the Cardiff Science festival 2021

Our 3D printing workshops will be held over Microsoft Teams and will run for approximately one and a half hours. They are recommended for pupils in primary school (years 5, 6 & 7), participants will gain hands-on experience using online Computer Aided Design software Tinkercad.

What will the workshop include?

• What is 3D printing?

• How to design an object for 3D printing

• Slicing your 3D design ready for printing

• Your design will be printed and posted to you on completion

• Examples of how Renishaw use 3D printing

• Q & A session

We are also offering to print your child's design and send the finished piece to you in the post, free of charge (UK residents only). Please ensure you share your postal address during registration - home addresses will only be used for posting the 3D printed design and will be deleted once the item has been sent.

A parent/guardian must book the workshop with their details (not the child’s),and must be present for the duration of the workshop. The child name and age taking part can be added on the registration page.

Renishaw's Education outreach team brings these clear and positive messages into schools and colleges in Gloucestershire, Bristol and South Wales, and to universities throughout the country.

Our proactive education outreach programme is designed to excite, to interest and engage students in a range of engineering activities. Our aim is to provide real insight into the vibrant world of engineering, and careers based on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subjects.

The great engineers of tomorrow are students in our schools today.  With the help of primary and secondary school teachers (and parents…) in Gloucestershire, South Gloucestershire, Bristol and South Wales, we want to find them.  This country needs more engineers. Renishaw needs more engineers!

Renishaw's Education Outreach programme offers local schools a range of activities designed to inspire young students to engage in engineering and consider it as a future career option.  You never know, they might want to work at Renishaw one day.

Our comprehensive education outreach activities are completely free and aimed at Year 5 - 13.  Our goal is to bring real-world context and added value to schools' science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) curricula.
