IGNITE: ENERGY FOR ALL
31 August - 01 September

SANEA’S 2021 conference was a resounding success.  Held virtually it was graced by key energy sector leaders and stakeholders who conversed and deliberated the theme - UNLOCK: Unlocking the possibilities of energy sustainability and celebrated 2021 World Energy Day, which focused on Unlocking Energy Sustainability in South Africa.

For 2022 we have selected the theme of IGNITE – Energy for All -  moving to a more action-oriented focus that is required to deliver the significant outcomes in order to progress the energy sector.

Last year we held the conference to coincide with World Energy Day celebrations.  This normally takes place on the 3rd Friday of October each year and given other conferences in South Africa at this time, we will host our conference on 31 August to 1 September 2022, and still commemorate World Energy Day in October with a separate activity.

The theme of IGNITE – Energy for All enables us to focus on a deeper perspective around the World Energy Day theme for 2022 Empowering Energy Independence in Africa … enabling rural and urban renewable energy awareness, access and affordability.

As we prepare the programme for SANEA's first Hybrid Conference, we invite all thought leaders, from across the energy sector, to propose a paper or presentation of your work that supports the theme of Ignite - Energy for All. The paper or presentation should build critical thinking around taking action to deliver on the significant outcomes necessary to advance the local and continental energy agenda. Global perspec tives and linkages to lessons learnt for South Africa and the rest of Africa to enhance delivery and results for energy sector projects and initiatives will be greatly beneficial to the thought leadership contribution.
