50% efficiency even before MLM matching

Asked by Hardik Routray

Dear Madgraph authors,

I am trying to generate g g > h j process in Madgraph and decay it to mu+ mu- after giving h a lifetime in Pythia and then shower it in Pythia. I notice that when even before jet matching, 50% of the events are not reconstructed. After jet matching it reduces to around half of the remaining which is expected. Whereas if I generate g g > h > mu+ mu- in Pythia and shower there itself, the reconstruction efficiency is ~75 %, 25 % are lost due to detector and trigger limitations. I am trying to understand what's going on.

The reason I can't use Pythia for the entire process is probably due to inbulit calculations in Pythia it doesn't give the assigned mass to h when i give a lifetime to h.

I can provide the scripts if needed.

Thanks,
Hardik

Hi,

If you want to compare the reconstruction efficiency you should test on the same process. For the rest I can not comment

Cheers

Olivier
