OFF SALE
ENJOY YOUR WRISTBAND

This is the official wristband for Newcastle University students. This all-in-one wristband will give you access to the Students' Union's full Fresher's programme (17-22 September). This includes all of our big nights at the Union, as well as hundreds of bookable activities and experiences throughout the week. PLEASE watch out for scammers trying to sell wristbands in the city or online - this page is the ONLY place you are able to purchase the official Newcastle University Freshers wristband. 

For those new the city, paying an entry fee into clubs or clubnights is very normal, and you might find that you could pay something like £5-10 to enter. Our wristband includes all of the entry fees into our Freshers' nights at the Union.

Lots of the activities that are on our Freshers programme would normally cost you anywhere from £5 to £35 (something like paintballing), but with our wristband, you can book yourself onto as much as you can, all for the price of our wristband.

Kicking-off our 5 nights at the Union, our Launch Party will be raising the roof with hit classics and samples from our big headliner SIGALA. Doors open at 7pm, so get down to campus and get ready for a night of pure anthems!

Join us for the student darts event of the year right here on campus. Whether you're a darting aficionado or just looking for a memorable experience you’re in for a night of excitement, camaraderie, and the electrifying atmosphere of darts. After huge demand, Raul Kohli and Mike Milligan are running a live panel show discussing all aspects of the North East History from before the Roman Conquest to the Tuxedo Princess while asking fundamentally what does it mean to be a North Easterner? Join these two comedians as they delve into the lesser-known history of the North East & learn & laugh on this incredible journey. They will also be joined by some very special guests!

Fancy a night full of horror and historical spooks? Come on the Newcastle Ghost Walk and see a different side to the city. Revel at all the paranormal sights throughout the city and prepare for a night of ghostly scares whilst your tour guide takes you on a journey through the mysterious streets of Newcastle!

Fancy an evening of tea tasting, board games and excellent snacks? Whichever you drink, be it a calming chamomile, an extraordinary Earl Grey or a hypnotic hibiscus, relish your tastebuds in a diverse range of teas! Enjoy the chance to meet new people as you all delight in experiencing a night full of natter and board games with snacks to enhance the flavours (and your evening) of the teas that you'll be tasting.

Join us at Alphabetti Theatre for a night of dark comedy and excellent storytelling! Watch events unfold as Mr Punch takes the audience on a journey following the life - in story form - of Norman. He's a solitary and now lonely figure of fun, with a dependence for drink and a long life of self-destruction and small mindedness has returned from a funeral carrying his recent departed father’s life in a suitcase. A father whom he blames for his actions, situations and what the world might call a ‘wasted life’. When a faraway family move in next door – Norman’s attitudes, pity-party and beliefs may have to change.

Have a chill night as you watch a beloved movie with some of your fellow freshers. At Tyneside Cinema, join us for an action packed film and switch off as you watch the big screen. Follow the ebbs and flows as Mario travels through an underground labyrinth with his brother, Luigi, trying to save a captured princess. Sit back and relax and watch these characters come to life!

If you love table football, you will never have played it like this! Come along and play table football on the LARGEST 22 player table football in the North East! Come and have a go if you’ve got what it takes!

Enjoy a scenic bus trip to the iconic landmark of the region's character and get that MUST-HAVE photograph beneath the wings of the Angel! Antony Gormley's winning design is now one of the most viewed pieces of art in the world and you will get to experience it in person! Installed in February 1998, Angel of the North has become one of the most recognisable pieces of public art ever produced, winning many accolades and awards.

Unleash your inner Viking at Hatchet Harrys Axe throwing. The session will include tips and tricks from the axcellent (sorry!) instructors before getting the chance to compete against everyone else. Join in on a Behind the Books tour of The Lit & Phil, Newcastle’s exquisite independent library. Founded in 1793, its purpose-built library opened in 1825 on Westgate Road, and is just yards from Central Station. It became a hub of learning and enlightenment long before the city’s universities existed and today continues to inspire minds, stimulate imaginations and confer a wealth of knowledge to young and old alike.

The Biscuit Factory is the UK’s largest independent contemporary art, craft & design gallery set in the heart of Newcastle’s cultural quarter. Housed in a former Victorian warehouse, our beautiful gallery spaces are set over two floors, displaying a range of contemporary fine art, sculpture, original prints and jewellery, quality craftsmanship and design led homewares from over 200 artists every season

Brinkburn Brewery is a small, independent brewery based on the edge of popular Ouseburn in Newcastle. Buried down a warren of stairs, in an unlikely industralist looking building, Brinkburn Brewery is a must-visit for anyone who has a passion of locally brewed beer- it's one of Newcastle’s best kept secrets! There's plenty to do once you're there as you'll get a 2-hour guided tour to learn from the experts and explore all around the brewery, and your chance to try some samples! All that walking around will make you hungry too, so there'll also be a food tasting platter for you to fill yourself up on!

Bubble football is the definition of a 'Must Try' activity. If you have not experienced it already then this is well and truly your chance. As well as playing bubble football which is the equivalent of human dodgems your session will include several unique kick-off's involving all players as well as fun mini games such as dizzy penalties, last team standing and many more

YiFang Tea Shop provides a great opportunity to experience making your own favorite bubble tea or fruit tea by using our fresh and authentic ingredients! Every year, students tell us they get lost on Campus - don't let that be you! Give it a Go and join us for a tour of your new city campus by an expert member of our friendly team! Our crew will take you on a guided walking tour to show you the main hot spots you'll need to know - where to find a study space and more importantly where to get the best coffee!

We all know that cuddling up to a furry, feline friend can help ease the stresses of everyday life - at least for a little while. Located on the beautiful Newcastle Quayside overlooking the River Tyne. they have a sit-in café, home to their 8 resident cats and also rescue cats from Friendz Feline.

Did you know that campus is only a short metro away from the coast? Come with us and explore Whitley Bay and get your feet in the sand. On the tour you'll see the sights like St Mary's Lighthosue, Arbeia Roman Fort, as well as take a long stroll up and down Londsands Beach.

Explore all areas, including the under stage, backstage and many other secret areas never seen on a normal visit. Your tour guide will reveal the theatre’s fascinating history and highlight tales of its stars and even its ghosts!

The Victoria Tunnel is a preserved 19th-century waggonway under Newcastle, stretching from the Town Moor to the Tyne river. Join us for a guided tour underneath the city. Experience life in a victorian waggonway, and learn all about what life in Newcastle was like for those during World War Two in this interactive experiece. This a amazing opportunity to see beneath the cobbles.

You should receive an email when you purchase your wristband. The email address this goes to will be whatever you entered when you purchased. If you did not receive an email, make sure you check your SPAM or Junk Folders. If you need this email resending, please contact Our Team (to speed up your repsonse, please let us know your name and email address).

Once you have purchased your wristband from this page, you should receive an email receipt of your purchase. Make sure you don't delete this as you will need thsi when you come to collect your physical wristband.

On either Saturday 16 September (9am-4pm) or Sunday 17 September (9am-5pm), you need to head to Newcastle University Students' Union on campus to collect your wristband in-person.

Collections will be located in Venue (Level -1 of the Students' Union building) and you can access this from Luthers' Bar entrance. Our Freshers' Crew will be out on campus to direct you to where you need to go.

What do you need to bring?

You will need to have your University ID Card (which you can also collect on campus), a valid form form of Age ID (such as a passport, drivers license, or provisional license), as well as your email receipt of your wristband purchase.

if you do not have a form of Age ID with you, you will be automatically given an Under-18 wristband which may prevent you to purchase alcohol during events.

You must have a Freshers' Wristband to enter any of our nights at the Union. Once you have purchased your wristband, you will receive an email with links to book your place on our night-time events. Not received an email? Contact us here. Once you have signed up to an evening event, you will receieve am email with a QR entry ticket - make sure you have this to hand when you turn up at the event.

What are the Evening Events?

Our Evening Events include: (Sunday) Launch Party, (Monday) Scam Fender x The Kopycat Killers, (Tuesday) The Big Freshers Quiz, (Wednesday) Bingo Revolution, (Thursday) Late'n'Live. These are the only events you can book online, all of our activities are bookable on campus during the week.

Sign-up for Daytime Activities

All you need to do is come to Venue (Level -1 of the Students' Union building) on the morning or afternoon that the activity you want to book onto. Head to Students' Union Level -1 to our Daytime Activity Sign-Up area and queue to book.

On our activity schedules we will make sure make it clear whether the activity you are interested in can be booked in the morning or afternoon session.

Can I book an activity for a different day or timeslot?

We go day-by-day, so you will not be able to book onto an activity for a different day when you queue, but you can of course attend as many events as you would like to.

You will also not be able to book for an afternoon activity in the morning. This is to ensure that all students have a chance to book onto an event, rather then first-come-first-serve in the morning.

You can! When you come to collect your wristband, a crew member will ask for your Age ID, and assign you one of our Under-18's wristband. This will not stop you from attending our evening events or our daytime activities.

You will not be able to. All of our events and activities are exclusive to those with a wristband. If you have lost or taken off your wristband, we will not be able to issue you with another, so please be careful. If you feel that your wristband is too tight, please head to Venue (Students' Union, level -1) and a member of Crew will be able to remove it and replace it.

We do not offer refunds on our wristband, so please make sure you have your confirmed place at the University before purchasing. If you are unsure you will be arriving in Newcastle for Freshers' Week (17-21 September), we recommend you waiting also. You will be able to purchase your wristband all throughout the week.
