Dear <<First Name>>

In this newsletter, we share information on our partnership with Parentline, bringing Parents Plus courses directly to the public.

The first 5 years of a child’s life are the most important.  Research shows that the support of parents during this time is a crucial factor in determining positive outcomes for children.  This month we focus how best to empower parents to set their young children on a positive path.

Also see information on our Autumn Training Schedule, as well as details of our upcoming Parents Plus Children's Programme and Early Years Programme trainings for professionals.

Please feel free to share this information with anyone you think might benefit from it.

All the best,
The Parents Plus Team

Working with young children or their parents?

To support professionals working with young children or parents of young children, we invite you to attend our evidence-based Early Years Programme Facilitator training, taking place in October.

The first 5 years of a child’s life are the most important.  Research shows that the support of parents during this time is a crucial factor in determining positive outcomes for children.

You can equip parents with evidence-based tools to shape this critical stage of development, and create the best future outcomes for their children.

Through training in our evidence-based Parents Plus Early Years Programme, you will learn how to empower parents to effectively deal with behavioural and emotional problems, as well as to support their children’s learning, language and social development.

Whether you are a family support worker, nurse, social worker, preschool worker, psychologist or one of the many other professionals working to change outcomes for families, this programme training is for you.

The proof is in the evidence
The Parents Plus Early Years Programme achieves excellent outcomes in clinical, community and early intervention settings.

For example, in a large scale multi-site controlled outcome study of children aged 1 to 6 years and their parents, it was found that for families attending the Parents Plus Early Years Programme there was ‘significant reductions in children’s behavioural problems post-intervention.’

Furthermore, a Randomised Controlled Trial, the gold standard in clinical trials, attests to its effectiveness in early intervention settings, with findings isolating ‘the Parents Plus Community Course as being a key component in improving the home-learning environment, even two years after the course was attended’.  (Hayes, Siraj-Blatchford, Keegan & Goulding 2012)

Moreover, the Parents Plus Community Course, which was rolled out to over 700 families in 35 different childcare services in North Dublin over a two year period, found significant reductions in child behaviour problems and parental stress from pre- to post-intervention. Most significantly, the courses successfully engaged disadvantaged families with significant problems (40% of sample) and these families benefited most overall.  (European Early Childhood Education Research Journal, 2016, Volume 24, Issue 5)

These results support the effectiveness of the Parents Plus Early Years programme and demonstrates significant benefits to parents attending and to their children.

Our next Parents Plus Early Years training for professionals is online on 12th, 14th, 15th, 19th, 20th October 2021, 9.15am–1pm.  To book your place or learn more visit here
