The Pearson Centre for Young People - After School Programme

The Pearson Centre is a youth and community centre, working with children and young people aged 5 to 18 years. They offer numerous activities which include sports, arts and crafts, cookery, drama, music, IT, day trips and Holiday Clubs. They also host Nottingham Boys' Brigade and Nottingham Girls' Brigade sessions.

The Centre aim to provide activities in an informal setting to develop children’s’ life skills, build on confidence, self-esteem and leadership. The Pearson Centre run activities all week including: a Dodgeball club, Athletics Club, Cookery Club, Youth Gym and The Boys’ and Girls’ Brigade sessions.

As a Volunteer you can help support a specific club based on your interests and the day of the week you are free. There are also opportunities to support the Centre during school holidays and be part of their Holiday Club.

The Pearson Centre for Young People offers after school clubs for primary school children from Beeston and surrounding areas.

On Mondays, we run an Athletics Club where we teach young people the fundamentals of athletics and improve their skills and fitness.

On Tuesdays, we run a Cookery Club which is extremely popular and we encourage young people to build and improve their cookery and teamwork skills.

On Wednesdays we run a Dodgeball Club with students from the University of Nottingham Dodgeball society to teach young people dodgeball related skills and to promote health and fitness.

On Thursdays we run a Youth Gym for young people year 6 to age 16 if they are unable to join a public gym. We run a fun and active programme to encourage young people to be fit and healthy and to socialise with other young people.

We are looking for enthusiastic and fun volunteers to come and join these clubs to work alongside our Youth Workers in running the sessions and encouraging the young people to build their confidence, skills and team work.
If you are looking to work with young people in the future in any capacity, we have some excellent opportunities to build your CV and also help you to build your teamwork, confidence and leadership skills.
