Our activities

PARTNERSHIPS

With our partnership cluster group, we are looking for institutions, companies or event organisers open for collaborations with the Rising Researchers Network. We thereby aim to support our members in their career and open up new opportunities through these partnerships. A recent success: Together with the Game AI summer school, we were able to offer 5 scholarships for a summer school participation for free!

Join our network and we will provide you with the details how to apply for it!

NETWORKING

We have an active community on our Slack channel to support the networking of members. We organise regular meetups for members to get to know each other. Also, we set up pub quizzes, lightning talk sessions, journal clubs or Kaggle competitions tailored to our members’ interests.

THE YEARLY PAPER HIGHLIGHT

The “Yearly Research Highlight” is a program designed to acknowledge and bring attention to exceptional papers written by emerging AI researchers. It provides an opportunity for junior researchers to increase the impact of their work by featuring it in various CLAIRE media outlets such as the website, newsletter, and social media. To facilitate this, we hold an annual paper highlight competition where participants undergo multiple rounds of evaluation. The winners are selected by a jury composed of both senior and early career researchers, as well as by their peers.

CLUSTERS

We have clusters working on specific goals within the network:

Open Calls

We are thrilled to offer you a range of exciting projects that you can actively participate in and contribute your skills and ideas. At CLAIRE|R2Net, we value collaboration and believe in providing opportunities for personal growth and meaningful contributions.

Below are the project proposals, each offering unique experiences and avenues for you to get involved. Whether you are interested in presenting your work, organizing events, or contributing to the development of innovative solutions, there is something for everyone.

Lightning Talks

ID: LT2024

DESCRIPTION

The Lightning Talk project provides an excellent platform for you to present your own work to our network. Whether you are a researcher, academic, or industry professional, this initiative allows you to showcase your ideas, projects, or research findings to a diverse audience. Lightning talks are brief and dynamic presentations, making it a great opportunity to practice your public speaking and presentation skills. Additionally, if you wish, we will post your presentation online, allowing your work to reach a broader audience.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

Presenters: If you are interested in presenting your work, please contact us with a brief overview of your presentation topic. This is your chance to draw attention to your work and receive valuable feedback from peers.

Moderator: We are also looking for someone to moderate the discussion during the Lightning Talk event. If you have experience in facilitation and are enthusiastic about fostering engaging discussions, we welcome you to join as the moderator.

Paper Highlights

ID: PH2024

DESCRIPTION

The Paper Highlights project aims to showcase outstanding research papers from the previous year. Last year’s edition was a great success, and now we are looking for passionate individuals to organize the upcoming edition. By participating in this project, you will have the unique opportunity to gain insights into the behind-the-scenes work involved in organizing a review committee.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

Participants: Submit your CLAIRE R2Network 2023 paper highlight application.

Organisers: If you are interested in organizing the Paper Highlights event, please review the detailed information provided in this document. It outlines the responsibilities, guidelines, and steps to host a successful event. Join us in celebrating the achievements of researchers and promote knowledge sharing within the community.

Hackathon

ID: HK2024

DESCRIPTION

We are excited to collaborate with NORA (Norwegian Artificial Intelligence Research Consortium) to organize a Hackathon. This event will bring together talented individuals from various backgrounds to brainstorm, collaborate, and develop innovative solutions to real-world challenges using AI technologies.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

Organizers: As we gear up for the Hackathon, we are looking for enthusiastic individuals to be part of the organizing team. Your role will involve planning the event, coordinating with NORA, managing logistics, and ensuring a seamless experience for participants.

Colab with NVIDIA

ID: HK2024

DESCRIPTION

We are in the middle of establishing a continuous collaboration with NVIDIA. This will involve organizing talks, events and an NVIDIA certified instructorship programme. This will facilitate interested researchers to get guidance and develop cordial relationships with stakeholders in the NVIDIA Swiss office, and get access to their resources.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

Organizers: As we have already started the conversation and are currently in the process of establishing contact, we are seeking individuals to take on the responsibility of liaising with both the NVIDIA Swiss office and R2N stakeholders to organize events and programs.
