I left my life behind me.

My sister.

My MC.

I need room to breathe and room to think, to make my own choices and to own my mistakes.

Bitterness and anger cloud my judgment when it comes to the MC. What is so great about them that I can't have on the outside? What is so great about the patch?

Death?

Blood?

Fear?

That is all I've experienced with the club.

I hated to leave my sister. She's the only reason I stayed as long as I did.

But it's time for something new.

And yet, I find myself searching for trouble, wanting—needing to be someone's savior.I have the best poker face, but when I lay down my winning hand and they shove a girl at me, bound and scared, for my prize, I knowI've landed in the middle of something bigger than me.The girl? Scarlett Rose.

My reason for being.

My clarity.

I just have to prove it to her.

She needs protection, and I'll die before they hurt her again.

This isn’t the best thing I’ve read…. But there are times when you’re in the mood for a short smutty MC book. It’s similar to the times when I’m in a mood for a Krispy Kreme glazed donut. Your sugar fix is satisfied without the fuss of baking something on your own and you can purchase a dozen easily at your local grocery store.

Are there better desserts out there? Yes. Do I still eat a questionably ill amount in one sitting because they are f-ing delicious? YES!!!!!

description

I view a lot of MC books the same way I view Krispy Kreme. They hit the spot when you need a smut fix.

(Not that there aren't some really freakin' great MC books out there that are amazingly well written and should win awards....)

Moving on.

I liked this book but it had some issues.

1. There was insta-EVERYTHING (conflict, lust, love, etc.). I feel like the author threw A LOT at the reader pretty early on (such as mental illness and sex-trafficking) and these issues were not explored in-depth. I’m not sure if that was because the author wanted to keep the book pretty short (210 pages), or if because the author didn’t want to dive too deep into complex subject matters.

2. The character development was questionable. The characters evolved in gigantic leaps and bounds and some of their actions did not align with who they were, especially given the trauma the characters experienced.

3. There were some plot holes. I’d go into it, but that would give away some of the story. And, if I’m being totally honest, I’m way too lazy to pull apart my issues with the plot layer by layer.

description

In reality, I’m actually really busy. So that’s part of the reason why I picked this book up to read. I didn’t want to read anything deep and complicated, but I felt like I couldn't write a review without pointing out some minor issues.

Overall, this was an entertaining read. And, I looked up the series after I finished Boomer. Turns out there are a million (15+) books in this series, so I will probably read more.

And, I will probably read them while eating a Krispy Kreme.

Loved it!! Boomer has a head of negative thoughts and it's driving him crazy. So he leaves and just drives for days. Ends up at the beach where there is another chapter of the Ruthless Kings. Good thing he let his cut behind. He wants out.

At the junky hotel room he finds at the beach he tries to make friends with the old man running the place. Ornery old man. When he takes him out to breakfast the Ruthless Kings show up and you can tell people are scared of them and hate them. Not like it was back at home.

Meantime Scarlett has been kidnapped and is being held in a damp dirty basement and she isn't alone.

This is where things get good....

Spoiler:
Only thing I didn't like was not knowing the name of the new MC. Hopefully that will show up and maybe be another series.

When I read Reaper I was completely put under a spell. All I could think was these guys are savage (no pun intended), and I love them all! And by savage, I mean totally intoxicating and addicting to me as a lover of dark gritty MC books . This author hit all my pulse points with her style and voice. Boomer's story was exactly what his name leads you to think … BOOM !!

This is the part where I tell you:
1. This is not a standalone in my opinion. Technically, the journey of Boomer and Scarlett can easily be read if you haven’t read Reaper, but stop it. Don’t do it. You’ll regret it. I have been reading MC books for a veeeery long time. Don’t do it. Start at the beginning. MC series are never just about the characters #TRSUT
2. Read the prequel to this series before you do anything. Seriously.

That’s all the preaching from me LOL

Scarlett and Boomer both have what I would consider to be struggles of their own that each are the perfect match to help get thru said struggles. In other words, The author wrote perfectly matched characters that fed off of each other in the story. They elevated each other. I didn’t really see a power dynamic that was different within their own little circle. I really liked that about them. That’s a hard thing to pull off with these types of stories. So props to the author for creating a perfect storm of two.

The storyline carried a lot of suspense and kept me glued to the story from beginning to end. It is dark so heed the warnings before you jump in but honestly, what MC romance book out there isn’t dark in one way or another … so if you’re even contemplating this book/series you must know that and I would say this is really one of the best I’ve read in a while.

So, I really liked this. Boomer and Scarlett have such a troubled story. His struggles are more internal where as she has to overcome things that have happened to her. We get to watch them heal, together, as they fall in love.

This is a gritty mc (a lot of serious action goin on!) and even though it's part of a series, I feel like it could be read on it's own. It's even set in a different location. I really liked to see the hidden inner strength in these two, and how loved Boomer is even if he doesn't realize it. Plus both he and Scarlett are all in right away, so it's almost instalove between them. As for the other characters, I can't wait for all their stories!

This is a five star read! We get the love story of Jenkins, aka Boomer, in this second book in the Ruthless Kings series. I was intrigued by Boomer in the first book and the prequel, especially since we meet him as a child in the prequel. Since the first book is Sarah and Reaper’s points of view, we don’t really get a lot of insight into Boomer, other than the notion that he might not be happy being a part of the MC. Savage wastes no time with Boomer, and it’s clear right from the start that he has a lot going on under the surface.
Like the first book, the focus seems to be more on the hero than the heroine. Sure, we know that Scarlet is a college student and that she might be interested in studying biology, but that’s only mentioned in the first chapter, and this backstory never comes up again. She has parents and loves them, but she never calls them to let them know when she’s safe. I get that the focus of these novels is the romance and, of course, the violent MC shenanigans, but I like to see the other sides of my protagonists. Even without these details, I still loved this book and I’m looking forward to reading Tool’s story next!

Soooo.... I have no words to actually describe what I read. That's the main reason that it took me so long since I finished the book to write a review. Boomer's story had it all! Steam, drama, mayhem and a happily ever after! I think maybe "Damaged Souls MC" would be a more suited name for the Kings!

This is the second book of the series and I loved this one more than the first. This book takes us away from the Vegas MC and introduces another club. I loved the change in scenery. The book is very dark and heavy on the MC life.

I loved everything about Boomer. He has baggage, perhaps some mental health issues, anger, and buried deep down is a heart of gold. He is looking for a purpose in life and set out thinking he had to do that on his own, As we all are aware---good friends and family enrich our lives and make us whole. Love is love and once you feel it, all is right with the world.

Scarlett meets her Boom in in less than ideal circumstances. She is not trusting men easily but everything about Boomer puts her at ease. She just needs to be able to give him her heart and then both their lives will be settled.

I can't wait to read more of this series. If they keep getting better each book, readers are in for a real treat.

You ever see a beautiful ornament broken on the floor everyone walks around it but no one sees it? That's Boomer. He has demons in his head, a heart that isn't as black as he thinks and a "family" that loves him. But he needs to find his own happiness.

Luckily for Scarlett he chose where he did to ride to. Scarlett is in a bad way despite being young she's smart but it doesnt change her pain and fears she's currently going through.

These two are going to pour your emotions all over the place. Even though the reality is, it all had to happen for these two to find another soul to chase the demons away and to show that love and fear are as believable as the air they breath.

I am in awe of this series. First Reaper stole my heart, Boomer comes along and steals my tears. Thanks for Sarah and Scarlett that these men found a purpose and learn the true love of family whether blood or not.

I received an ARC for an honest and voluntarily review.

Better than the first book in my opinion.

Pretty insta love/lust. Heroine, Scarlet was held hostage along with other girls. A plan is hatched to get one of the girls out by shooting her in the shoulder. She survives but is badly hurt. Hero, Boomer/Jenkins rescues her.

After being rescued you would think heroine would want to go check on the girl who risked her damn life to get everyone out but nope not our heroine, shes too busy lusting after the Hero. She doesn’t even call her parents!!! Its mentioned casually in passing how she’ll call them eventually just not yet.

Hero has some serious mental issues that I believe he needs actual help with but this is fantasyland so ofcourse the heroines magical pussy and love will cure all.

The one thing I did enjoy was the relationship and love the other members had for the Hero even though he left the club.

seems like with this series i go on and on loving the MC members and their bond with the hero's more than the relationship between the main characters which is strange, it's the first time something like that happened.

Don't get me wrong, i don't mind the couple, it's just that is so insta-love that..i don't feel a real connection you know? and also it's the second time i really didn't like the first intimacy scene, like in the book before, i didn't like it. Again i have a h being over her self, and after what almost happened to her i just again wished for a h more shy you know? if you present me a heroine that is not experimented you can't then change her during intimacy in the first time, it's just strange.

Anyway again what i loved the most was the connection between this bikers , i love them, and in this one in particular i liked his problem , and damn i wished and needed more about it! a few scenes with him going to a doctor? or i don't know. Other than that the couple don't know a thing about each others but they are so in love 🙄. If it wasn't for my curiosity and how funny the bikers were i would've stop reading this series, now let's see, maybe Tool's book is better? i hope so.

...“I really hope being in his arms is a dream because waking up would be the worst nightmare.”

Boomer needs a break from Ruthless Kings L.A after everything that has happened, starting from him losing his father when he was only ten during a MC work gone wrong. He's constantly bombarded with negative thoughts which even makes him suicidal at one point.

When he's at his lowest, he meets Scarlett. Scarlett has just escaped from a scary ordeal and Boomer is hiding something from her that will make or break them.

┏━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┓

Things that I wished were a part of the plot:-

• Sarah's appearance.
• Scarlett's parents.
• More dialogues between Boomer & Scarlett.

He’s a wicked want, a sinister promise. And I plan to give in to both.

Boomer’s story blew my mind. (All the puns intended) But seriously, guys. This story was quick, intense and absolutely electrifying. It was like one minute I started the book and the next thing I knew it was over. But I closed this story feeling satisfied with how it all worked out. I wouldn’t have expected anything less for Boomer.

But dude. This book is not for the faint of heart. It’s intense. Like intense-intense. And it’s savage. I mean, Tongue does what he does best. And to see it in action? ((Shudders)) Don’t ever set this man off. Even so, I cannot wait to read all these books and get to his. I think he will always be my favorite.

Ruthless in every way, BOOMER is a must read!! 5 Stars!!

“Boomer” is book 2 in the “Ruthless Kings MC” series. When I started the book, I couldn’t predict that Boomer will become my favorite of the Ruthless Kings!! I’m a sucker for broken and crazy characters and Jenkins is exactly that!

Boomer always felt like an outsider in the MC. He can’t get past the fact that the MC cost him his father. Even though Reaper and all the others raise him, he harbors too much anger. That’s why he decides to leave Vegas and ends up in Atlanta City. He might have left, but the MC is still haunting him. The Atlanta City chapter is involved into some really shady business, and after he learns about it, he has to do something about it.

“Scarlett is by far the biggest boom I will ever experience.”

Scarlett was a normal college student before he was kidnapped by some bikers. She wakes up in a basement, chained up and in the dark. The people that took her are kidnapping women and use them as sex slaves and then either kill them or sell them. Scarlett is determined to escape, so she comes up with a plan. After one of the other women escapes, she’s saved by a man, Boomer.

“He might think he’s fucked up, but he’s my kind of fucked up, my mess, and I want him just the way he is-a little crazy and a whole lot of passionate.”

Their connection is instant. From the time their eyes meet Boomer knows that Scarlett is meant to be his. However, his inner demons are poisoning him constantly. Scarlett is the only one that can sooth his inner voices. He brings him calm and peace. I could definitely see their connection. I knew that Boomer had issues, but I didn’t fully understand what he has to fight.

I was happy to see some of the MC members as well. I hoped to see Sarah as well, but she was only mentioned. I was expecting their reunion after he left. Hopefully, we’ll see more of her in the next book! The series is getting better and better and I’m super excited for the next books!! I’ll be eagerly waiting for Tool’s story; I’m sure that it will be a good one!!!

WOW what a gripping MC ride. We met Boomer as a kid in the prequel to the series. He had just lost his father and became Reaper’s ward (Reaper is the Prez of the Ruthless Kings MC). Boomer was a handful at times, he was a good yet troubled kid. In book 1 (Reaper’s story) we got to know Boomer as an adult, the product of being raised in an MC. Now in book 2 of the series we get Boomer's story from his eyes. He is now prospecting for the MC but he is still deeply troubled. He can’t seem to drown out the voices in his head that he’s not good enough. So he runs off in the night to try and figure out just exactly who and what he is.

I don’t do spoilers so I won’t get into the meat and potatoes but let me tell you the author wrote an amazing and emotional storyline that kept me captivated throughout the book. Both Boomer and Scarlett, the heroine in the story, have quite the tale to tell. The storyline is written so well that I could feel what all the characters were going through: all the pain, hurt, sadness, happiness and love. The scenes just seem to unfold vividly right before my eyes. It’s an incredible read that I highly recommend grabbing up. Added Plus: we get to catch up with all the guys that make up the Ruthless Kings MC.

While I suppose Boomer could be read as a stand-alone, I STRONGLY suggest reading the prequel (Reaper's Rise) and book 1 (Reaper) of the Ruthless Kings MC series first. Boomer’s story will make much more sense and enhance your reading experience. This is an outstanding book/series in this reader's opinion and I for one can’t wait to see where the storyline takes us next.

"You never have to explain why you want me to hold you. I'll do it because there isn't anything more in the world I want."

Boomer is the second book in Ruthless Kings MC series. When I started this book there wasn't synopsis in Goodreads yet, so I had no idea who Boomer was. He was in Reaper but I didn't remember him until I started the first chapter.

Boomer decides to leave his family and friends to find himself. I like Boomer more in this book but he has a lot of problems of thinking he's unworthy.

Boomer and Scarlett's romance was insta love but they didn't get together the minute they met because of what Scarlett has been through. I love how Boomer was taken by her immediately but I thought it was a little overkill how he was a little interested even without meeting her by just hearing her name. Boomer likes to call her sugar because she looks all sweet and delicious, something that can be bad and good at the same time.

I'm glad many characters from Reaper appeared in this one but I'm sad we didn't get to see Sarah reacting to Boomer or meeting Scarlet.

TW: depression, suicide attempt, kidnapping.

I like Boomer & I feel like the author handled writing about depression pretty well, but I just didn’t like this book. It could just be me since insta-love isn’t really my thing, but I feel like it all happened way too soon. They are just completely in love in like 2 seconds. I was left feeling like what was the point of having the FMC go through all that trauma of being kidnapped and held captive if it’s pretty much all forgotten after being rescued.

I didn’t like this book at all but I think I will try to continue with the series bc a few of them have really grown on me.

I have a soft spot for this type of hero. The heroine has been through a really rough time of it, but her and the hero somehow fit. It was great to see the supporting characters; it was like reuniting with family. I really enjoyed this book.

Nice Addition

I was slow to start this book, because I was disappointed that Boomer had left the chapter from book one. I was glad when things turned around so that some of the brothers from Vegas showed up. That said, the ending disappointed a little, because he wasn’t going back.

Scarlett and Jenkins made a nice couple. The sexual tension was high, and their sexy times were good. It was kind of insta-love, but not over the top, considering the circumstances.

I was disappointed in Scarlet for racing off half-cocked and not giving Boomer the chance to explain himself. I can understand her being upset, but this seems like a plot device that was more irritating than useful. There were other ways to get her alone to set up the final confrontation.

Looking forward to the next installment in the series.

So I have buckle your seatbelt because we are going on a ride. We Boomer and Scarlett who have such difficult stories. These two are getting over things or just fighting to keep it together. This is the second book and I recommend you read the first book or you will be lost and you dont want that so go read Reaper.

Where to begin.. This story speaks of real situations and struggles. Depression is a real thing, and the way the author depicts it makes you feel what the character is feeling. My heart hurt for Boomer with all the emotions he was dealing with. It takes real talent to write about something so real that your readers feel it in their bones.
Boomer is a story of inner strength. He has a lot of inner demons that he needs to deal with, and does what he feels is necessary because of them. Scarlett ends up being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Thanks to that she finds herself in a predicament that could possibly kill her. Fast forward to these two meeting, and the inner struggles they have. As their love grows Boomer needs to come to terms with everything. As the two of them grow they draw from their inner strengths to realize just what they each need. Let's just say the way he comes to terms with it is bada$$.

** 1.5-2 stars **

Fairly awful (though I've certainly read worse).

To begin with, the "I love yous" come way, way too early. Just maybe a day or two after meeting, the hero's thinking to himself how even if the heroine doesn't want him in her life going forward, he's still going to be around whether she likes it or not if only to protect her (which I found creepy). Then there's the fact that even without having any real conversation to get to know each other, without knowing each other's last names or anything of substance, they're already declaring their feelings to each other.

in love

Aside from that, thin plot and though the hero had mental health struggles, not much was done by the author to really help him through it.

Fast forward toward the end, and there's a scene where the club his holding church (you know, those private members-only meetings).

5 Big Boomer Stole My Heart Stars ⭐️.
This is a heart-wrenching, heartwarming and action-packed story about two tortured souls.

Boomer feels like he is drowning. Struggling internally, the voices inside Boomer’s head are eating away at his heart and soul (which aren’t as dead as he thinks).
Needing to rediscover himself and find his own happiness Boomer jumps on his bike and hits the open road. Landing in Atlantic City he uncovers a sister MC chapter dealing in human trafficking. Instantly stepping in to rescue the kidnapped girls Boomer meets Scarlett. These two are instantly drawn to each other. Their story is raw, dark, gritty, suspenseful, heart wrenching and beautiful. Scarlett is the light to Boomer’s dark and calms his internal beast. With his warmth, love and protectiveness Boomer is healing Scarlett’s scars, heart and soul.
Can’t wait for Book 3 TOOL.

Boomer is the second book in the Ruthless Kings MC Series by K.L. Savage. It is said you can read Boomer and Scarlett’s story as a standalone, but I feel you’d get more of an understanding for Boomer if you read Reaper’s Rise and Reaper first. Please be warned, this book does come along with a few triggers. The main plot point has to do with a MC taking down a human trafficking ring.

Boomer was raised from the ground up in the club. First by his father, and then by his father’s best friend, he was taught the ins and outs of club life. Basically, once you’re in there is no getting out. Reaper did all he could to protect and shield his best friend’s son from all dangers that lurk around the corners. But some things are inevitable… Such as life and love.

When Reaper proclaims his love for Sarah, the sister Boomer never knew existed, Boomer takes it upon himself to step away from the situation…. And believe me when I say, I didn’t blame him for wanting to step away from the club and take a little breather. What Boomer doesn’t yet realize, he’s about to step out of a bad situation just to land himself in an even worse situation. A situation that leads him to the woman he undoubtedly was put on this earth just for him.

Scarlett had her life strategically mapped out. College, career, and the white picket fence. But when she finds herself being abducted and placed in the human trafficking ring, she comes to the realization, her perfectly mapped out life will never be the same. Her only means of survival is finding a way to get away from the rancid bikers. When an unknown face sweeps in and saves the girls, Scarlett is knocked off her feet. Being with Boomer feels right, and she’ll do everything in her power to get what she wants. Even if it means going toe to toe with his demons. She’ll raise hell fire to see this thing with Boomer through, until the very end.

My Thoughts:

Let’s be honest for a moment, I wasn’t expecting to love Boomer’s story and the fact that I did came as a huge surprise! You see, I loved Reaper and Sarah’s story. I loved it so much that I assumed he would be my favorite throughout this whole damn series. But Boomer came in and stole a piece of my heart. There is no doubt about it, this man has a darkness living in his head and claiming his soul. So this is where I tell you, If you aren’t a fan of dark and gritty tales, this MC romance most likely isn’t the one for you. I, on the other hand, couldn’t get enough!!!

Reading through the series, I knew something was off with Boomer. I knew he had his triggers and he had his little issues, like wanting to blow everything up. But holy crow’s feet… I didn’t expect him to be this maniacal…. I LOVED IT!! As for Scarlett, I thought she was the perfect antidote for Boomer’s crazy. I loved the fact that she was his calm, but she was also his equal. She had a bit of darkness she kept hidden beneath the surface. I loved the fact that these two characters were complete opposites, but in an odd sense they were the same too.

Let’s not forget about the fire and passion. K.L. Savage definitely knows their way around writing off the walls' sexy time scenes. The chemistry between these two is pure FIRE! And this is the reason I keep coming back for more. I love the raw passion and the danger!

Now onto why I gave Boomer a four star rating. I felt the novel was rushed at times. There were a few moments I craved a slowdown. As always, I’ll chalk that up to a spoiled reader preference.

Overall, I think it’s safe to say Boomer was a great read… IF you like dark romance, don’t mind a bit of violence, and are a fan of the gritty MC Romance trope. If you love your romances on the sweeter side of the spectrum and less erotic, this is probably not the book or series for you. I, however, couldn’t get enough!!!! I can’t wait to continue on with this series, I have my eye on a few characters and I’m DYING to get their stories!!
