While You Were Spying

Rate this book
She needs a fake husband. He needs to protect his best friend...

Ever since I caught my boyfriend getting hot and steamy with another woman, I’ve thrown myself into my career. But now I’m ready to move from being the super-efficient office manager to an operative with Quade Security and Investigation.

Just as soon as I prove to my boss that I’m kick-ass enough to do the job.

So when my grandmother asks for my help, there’s no way I can say no. Her former love has a mission for Jayden—my hot colleague and best friend—and me. What more could I want?

***
The last thing I want is for Isabelle to be is an operative. She’s my best friend, and I hate the idea of her being in danger. Unfortunately, our boss has other plans.

Isabelle and I go undercover at a resort for happily married couples. But forget moonlight walks and hanging out by the pool. To maintain our cover, we have to participate in activities that would make a nun blush.

Clothes come flying off, and we agree to temporarily be friends-with-benefits while there. No strings attached. No complications. Nothing could be simpler. Right?

Wrong—because there’s another reason we’ve been lured to the resort. A reason that will put our hearts to the test…and our lives on the line.

This book had sounded fun as I love spy stories and characters going undercover and it sounded in the blurb that it could be a fun story. I loved this book and it was great for the first in the series. I found myself connecting to the main female lead Izzy aka Isabelle. Izzy reminded me of Stephanie Plum from the Janet Evanovich series of the same title and Izzy Spellman from The Spellman Files by Lisa Lutz. She works for a security firm that hires operatives that are like Spies. She is their office manager and dreams of being a field operative. The problem though is that the guys see her like a little sister and need protection. They don't see her as operative material, especially not her best friend/roommate Jayden who is one of the operatives. When a new case pops up that requires Izzy to go into the field as Jayden's fake wife, she sees this as a chance to prove to them. Of course, it won't be easy as turns out that the resort they are going to are for married couples and includes Sex therapy which will push them out of the friendship comfort zone. Is this the push that this pair needed to finally get over themselves and allow each other into their lives romantically? This book has quite a few LOL moments especially during the Therapy sessions as you sit there reading and wondering how they are going to get through this particular session/question. While You Were Spying by Stina Lindenblatt has something for everyone from Romantic Comedy and laughter to Kick-arse females as well as romance in the air.

So I did like it, however there was something missing that I just never got. It was fast paced so it kept you pretty entertained. I liked Isabelle and I read this book in one go. I also liked Jayden and he was trying to protect his friend not thinking that she was strong enough to go out in the field, my opinion she is a grown as woman she can decide..Anywoo so they do get there assignment which they have to fake a relationship and you know that nothing stays fake, feelings will get blurred, lines will get crossed and sexiness will happen, this my friends I enjoyed it, and the secondary characters liked them too. and Yes I cracked up my issue was there really was no suspense to me I just felt everything was contrived.

rcvd an ARC at no cost to author...(netgalley) voluntarily reviewed with my own thoughts and opinions

4 1/2 Star Review....

While You Were Spying is the first story in Stina Lindenblatt’s Love Undercover series and starts this new venture with a bang! A captivating, fun-filled, friend to lovers story that also has mystery, intrigue and lots of sassy banter too. Isabelle and Jayden are an easily likeable couple and their exploits are both charming and explosive. The author has written a thoroughly enjoyable tale that is impossible to put down once you start. I’m so looking forward to the next in this series.

3.5-3.75 stars. This was a cute book. While You Were Spying is Jayden and Isabelle's friends to lovers story. Jayden and Isabelle are good friends who work together. They both work for a security firm, where Jayden is a security guard/investigator and Isabelle runs the office. She is itching to work out in the field and has been training in the hopes that she will get an assignment. Jayden is fiercely and vocally against this for her. He doesn't think she is tough enough or can hack it, but he is also worried she will get hurt. But then Isabelle's grandmother's friend, a man who runs a couples resort, needs an undercover investigator to find a thief on his resort property. Isabelle gets her chance to take the case with Jayden acting as her husband. The two go undercover to investigate and soon find that the resort is more like a couples therapy retreat, complete with mandatory classes and sex therapy. Lines get blurred, their relationship gets complicated and they soon find themselves falling for each other.

I enjoyed this book. It was a relatively light, easy read with some cute and funny moments. The mystery was a little convoluted, hard to follow, and at times not believable. But there is a fun story, a cute couple, kooky characters and funny circumstances. I liked Jayden and Isabelle. I didn't totally love how against Isabelle wanting to be a security investigator Jayden was. He was a little rude about that. But I did think they ended up being a good match who had fallen for each other without even knowing it, while they were friends. I did think they were a bit lacking in chemistry, but I wasn't too bothered.

Overall, this was a fun read. I enjoyed Jayden and Isabelle's story. This series seems like it's going to be a good one and I look forward to reading more.

Isabelle works for as an office manager for Quade Security and Investigations, but what she wants to do is be an operative with the firm.and she will be as soon as she manages to convince her boss. The perfect opportunity presents itself when her grandmothers ex boyfriend asks for help to investigate some suspicious thefts at his resort.
It seems like a simple mission that requires Isabelle and her best friend and colleague, Jayden to go undercover as a married couple. What more could she want ?
Jayden is not happy with Isabelle being an operative, but what can he do when the boss agrees. Now he is undercover at a resort for married couples with Isabelle and participating in activities that makes it impossible to hide the attraction he feels towards her.
While you were spying in my first book by the author Stina Lindenblatt, and I am hooked. This book had me addicted right from the start and i enjoyed it immensely till the end. It is a romantic comedy that has suspense, intrigue, hot moments and some intense chemistry. I loved reading it and look forward to more in the series.

Fun and adventurous I thoroughly enjoyed reading the Friends to Lovers Romance between Jayden and Isabelle.A Romcom full of Mystery, intrigue ,suspense and steamy moments,Isabelle and Jayden work together at Quade security and investigations. An assignment which has them both posing as a married couple brings out all the shenanigans, a chemistry is ignited and feelings that are more than friendship start to get involved .Which ultimately could jepordise their assignment and put them both in danger. This story just flows through the pages effortlessly and it is such an entertaining book that you won't be able to stop until the end.
Extraordinary story that I highly recommend

This is a first for me this author and book and I definitely wasn't disappointed, I enjoyed this book immensely.

Isabelle has a dream of becoming an agent it's all she's ever wanted  and as confident as she is she doesn't let anything get in her way.
Jayden is Isabelle's best friend and hates the thought of her doing anything of the like, especially his kind of work, he's worried about her safety and going into the field is dangerous he should know. All Jayden wants is to keep her by his side as difficult as this may be.
Isabelle needs to go undercover in a resort the only problem is that she needs a partner, her only option is her best friend Jayden.
They go undercover as a happily married couple for the mission to try and get the job done. They experience a hell of a lot along the way.

They are best friends and trying to keep the friends - lovers line separate is harder than they think.
Can there relationship between them remain platonic? Or will the chemistry and love between them prevail?

This book is Hot, Steamy, Sexy and with a lot of agent sex appeal.
I absolutely loved these characters and the love they have building between them and their sexual attraction.

This book is a complete page turner and I just couldn't put it down it keeps you gripped from the start.
I absolutely loved this book and I cannot wait to read more from this author in the future.

Thank you to the author and publishers for allowing me to read an early copy of this book.

While You Were Spying is a heart pumping sexy read! You've got action, intrigue and suspense and then on the other hand you have sexual tension, swoony romance, and sassy banter.

Isabelle is a tough chick and wants more than anything to be an operative for the security company she works for. Her best friend and coworker, Jayden, refuses to see that she'd be an asset to the team. When a chance comes to prove herself she jumps on it and needs Jayden to pretend to be her husband. That's when the fireworks start. These two are explosive together! Jayden and Isabelle are perfect for each other. I loved watching them go from best friends, to lovers, to more!

Stina Lindenblatt combined suspense, romance, and stellar writing for an unputdownable read!

What a fun and intriguing, friends to lovers romcom! Isabelle and Jayden both work for Quade Security and Investigation. Isabelle is the office manager while her best friend, Jayden, and 4 other hot, sexy, ex Navy SEALS do all the special ops. Isabelle has been training covertly wanting to be in the field as well. When her fun and quirky grandmother asks Isabelle to check out a robbery for an old boyfriend, Isabelle is excited to jump at the chance to solve a mystery. But she needs a fake husband to help with her cover. Jayden reluctantly goes along with the plan but is hoping she fails so she gives up on her dangerous desire to work in the field. When they check into the resort as a married couple, they had no idea the theme of the resort was to help couples put spark back into their love life! As the clues stack up, so does their inability to deny the sparks that they have fought for far too long! This is a fun, fast paced, sexy romance with thrilling twists and turns that kept me riveted from beginning to end. Isabelle and Jayden were so great together with their push and pull and eventual support for each other. This is a great start to the Love Undercover series. The whole team at Quade Security and Investigation are intriguing, fun, and sexy and I am excited to read more about them!

Ah Isabelle and Jayden! What a lovely story the pair of you made.
Best friends Isabelle and Jayden work for the same company. Isabelle works in the office, desperate for a life of work on the field. Jayden is an ex marine working with his team of intelligence operatives. He is dead set against Isabelle becoming an operative and putting her life in danger where as she is quite determined to prove to the team she is more than capable to become one of them. A case comes up courtesy of Isabelles gran that involves the pair going to a resort undercover as a married couple but as the pair delve deeper into the case it becomes apparent that all isn't as it seems with the case.
This is my first book by Stina and I'm looking forward to reading her other works. This rom com had the whole package for me, laughs, drama, intrigue and some saucy moments. I loved the chemistry the pair had and how well the team worked. It had me engaged from the beginning right untill the end and I love how the book ended. I especially loved Isabelles granny and her pals they were a riot. Can't wait for the next book

While You Were Spying is a fun, intriguing, full of mystery, friends-to-lovers read. It was like reading a fun romcom wrapped up in a James Bond movie with lots of extra steam.

Isabell's grandmother has a job for her, but the only trouble is she's not an agent, she's the office manager at Quade Security and Investigation. Isabell's dream is to become a field agent and this may be her chance to finally prove herself, but there is one other problem with her plan, the mission requires a partner as the resort she needs to check out is for married couples only. There are only a few operatives who work for QSI and only one who might actually be available, her best friend Jayden, who isn't exactly her best supporter behind her dreams.

Jayden, is Isabell's best friend and work college, but he has no desire to ever see Isabell working out in the field. The work can be dangerous, as evidenced by his last mission where he was shot and is now in a sling recovering. When their boss teams up Isabell with him to check out the lead her grandmother gave them he isn't exactly happy about it. Every mission has the potential to be dangerous, even a recon mission. Jayden's intention is to keep her close and keep her safe so she can return to the desk job where he doesn't have to worry about her.

Checking into the resort as a happily married couple is the least of their concerns, they are best friends after all and really do enjoy each other company. Attending seminars on strengthening their relationship in and out of the bedroom...well, that is another matter altogether. Their friendship lines get blurred and going back to being just friends may be harder than they thought, especially when trust becomes a bigger issue in solving the case.

3 stars!

I read this book in one go. The story is fast passed and keeps your attention to it. Not one moment of the story I was bored while reading it.
Isabelle is a fun character, with a strong will and mind and that's what makes her likable. Reid is broody, sexy and lovable and I loved getting in their mind.
I really liked the storyline of this book, until the last part. I don't want to spoil it, but it knocked it down for me from 4 stars to a 3 star book. Still solid though!
& If a part 2 comes out I will definitely pick it up!

While I loved the romance in the book and their banter and moments of happiness and steamy scenes, the overall story left me wanting for more of the suspense because it felt a bit weird just to make a romantic suspense that was based more on the romance and not so much on the suspense because it felt just like put out there to get attention but in my opinion it wasn’t developed to its full capacity.
It’s still a great love story that many people will enjoy

I received a free copy from Netgalley for review. I read about 20% and it was silly and light, and the characters were just set to jet off to a couples' retreat and pretend to be in a relationship to find some dastardly scheme and settle it. It was okay but completely not holding my interest. Others may enjoy the story.

I just love this book! The steamy sexual tension and obliviousness of feelings for each other; then add in some tense situations and five (YES FIVE!) hot, sexy, alpha, ex-navy SEALS and you got me!
The plot was really original and had me reading until far too late on a school night.

Jayden is best friends and work colleagues with Isabelle. He is a major sexy man; all alpha and growly. Yummy. He is really against Isabelle becoming a member of their security team, he doesn’t want her to get hurt. Bless. I love Jayden but he’s a bit of a caveman, he needs to lighten up and stop fretting about stuff that ‘might’ happen. He is such a caring man, he loves his big, slobbering dog, Mojo. These two are really bad at hiding their feelings and even worse at realising that they are both feeling the same way.

Isabelle is a confidant woman who knows what she wants and is determined that no one will stand in her way! I admire that quality. I adore her grandmother and her friends; three-eighty-year-old (ish) naughty people make for some great antics. They are fabulous characters.

The story really flows well and has plenty to keep my mind whirling with questions. The steamy parts will get any red-blooded person equally steamy. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

Jayden is one strong amazing man. They make for one strong fun couple. There connection is off the charts. Can’t wait to read more.

I received this as an ARC in exchange for a honest review.

I like this book. As always Stina’s writing was great! Pros: fun story line although not very realistic. Both main characters were easy to love. Cons: the progression from friends to “in love”, emotionally wasn’t quite there for me, I felt the sexual relationship had more inner dialogue devoted to it than the emotions did (hence 4 stars).

Light and SEXY, this rom com has a dash of suspense and plenty of steamy moments. It's a friends to lovers romance between a sexy, lovable operative and the strong, determined office manager he loves to spend time with. While I found the emotional connection to be a little weak, it's a lot of fun and has a storyline that will keep you entertained.

The story follows Isabelle and Jayden, co-workers who have become friends over the last two years. They have an easy connection and a genuine appreciation for each other, but they've both sworn off commitments after being hurt in past relationships. When they're assigned to a mission that requires them to pose as a married couple at a resort, the lines between friends and lovers become blurred. It's not your typical resort - no, this resort features sex-focused couples workshops that test the limits of Jayden and Isabelle's friendship, forcing them to see each other in a whole new way.

As always, Stina Lindenblatt's writing is solid and the characters are easy to like. I especially liked Jayden - he's overprotective of Isabelle, but there's an undercurrent of love there that's obvious from the beginning. I also loved the light, fun vibe which mixed elements of suspense in with a friends to lovers story that was unpredictable. My biggest complaint is the focus on the physical side of things - while it was obvious these two are attracted to each other, the emotional connection felt cold. They would have a sexy encounter and then go right back to business, which was somewhat jarring and didn't help to build up the romance. That being said, if you're just looking for a rom com with a twist, this will certainly do the trick, but I've definitely read other books by Lindenblatt that I've enjoyed a lot more. I received an ARC via Give Me Books PR and am voluntarily leaving a review of this action-packed romance.

She needs a fake husband. He needs to protect his best friend. Ever since I caught my boyfriend getting hot and steamy with another woman, I've thrown myself into my career. The last thing I want is for Isabelle to be is a operative. She's my best friend, and I hate the idea of her being in danger. Unfortunately, our boss has other plans. A reason taht will put our hearts to the test....and or lives on the line.

This is the first book in the Love Undercover Series. This is also a romantic comedy. This book is about best friends who go undercover in a place that is for happily married couples. Isabelle and Jayden are so perfect for each other. This book has some cute moments, sexy banter between the two, a mystery and don't forget the friends to lovers part. This was a really cute book and I am glad that I got to read it.
