Reason to Ruin #2

Regretting Gabriel

Rate this book
He was the bad boy of rock-n-roll; cocky, short-tempered, and the sexiest man I’d ever seen. I was just a librarian in a small town. He had no clue who I was, but I knew everything about him. After all, he was the reason I moved across the country.

I never thought he’d know my name, let alone whisper it while he held me tight and made me forget about the agony of my past. He was my protector, my reason, my calm before the storm… but nothing good lasts forever, and Gabriel Hunter was no exception.

When Cady meets her neighbor's gorgeous brother, it's not quite the meeting she would have wanted, what with him being famous bad boy rockstar Gabriel Hunter.

Gabriel is immediately taken by Cady's innocent eyes and beautiful spirit. He has no idea the secret she's hiding, though, just as she has no idea the demons he's hiding. Can a shy, innocent librarian with a huge secret and a short-tempered rockstar make a relationship work?

I loved this story! Cady and Gabriel may be opposites in almost every way, but here opposites most definitely attract because their chemistry is positively electric. I may have wanted to slap Gabriel more than once, but once his history came out I could sort of see where his short temper and horrible attitude came from. I'm still not sure he's quite worthy of Cady, though, because she's the biggest sweetheart. But Gabriel is really perfect for her and she loves him, so he gets a big pass from me. I'm not sure which story is next, but you can be sure I will be reading it as soon as it is released.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”I never was one to play games, but with her, I’ll break the rules, I’ll follow ’em, hell, I’ll even cheat if winning means she’s waiting for me at the finish line”✨
.
Cady is a librarian trying to escape the agony from her past. Gabe is the hot, cocky guitarist of a rock band. They meet unexpectedly and from there Gabe persues her. Little does he know, that she knows him from her past. But he has no idea who she really is. Secrets always have a way of coming out though. Can they overcome them?✨
.
If you love:
•Rockstar romance
•Sweet shy heroine
•Possessive alpha
•Secrets
•Dual POV
Then this is the book for you!
.
I enjoyed this read. This is my first time reading this author and I would definitely read again. There was a lot of heartfelt emotion in this book. With a side of heat. I mean what rockstar romance doesn’t have heat? I love a good prologue to pull you in, and this book has it. At times I adored Gabe and times I wanted to shake him. Honestly, same with Cady. But trauma has a way of shaping people doesn’t it? And they both had their share of horrible trauma in the past. I loved the letters. So heart wrenching. And you’ll only know what I mean if you read it!✨
.
This is Book 2 in the Reason to Ruin Series. Though I felt ok reading this before the first, it probably would be best to read in order because you get glimpses of the other guys throughout the book as well. Liam and Mercy’s story sounds like it’s going to be a good one up next!✨
.
Thank you to Anna Brooks for proving me with this ARC for my honest review.✨

I loved it, Cady's father was also a rock legend before he died, the backstory of Cady is heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. Cady is a young woman who has had more than enough tragedy in her life with no family left following the death of her father she is put into the care of her creepy step-brother. Cady remembers Gabriel from when she lived at home with her father and in an attempt to flee her step-brother he is the first person who comes into her mind when she thinks of a home and safety, she feels a connection to him somehow due to her father once being his mentor and so she moves to the same city.

Cady and Gabes story is one of fate. Gabe is absolutely swoon-worthy with Cady, he falls hard and its definitely love at first sight for him. Gabe knows she is nothing like the groupies he has used for years and treats her with respect and with care * swoons again

Of course, there is added drama and angst and the author did a brilliant job of balancing the whole thing out as well as the occasional scorching hot scenes. I cannot wait for the next book, I could not turn the pages fast enough.

A definite recommended Rock star romance read. Told in first person dual pov and leads to an abrupt hea but I am hoping to see more of these two in the next book. Regretting Gabrielle can be read as a standalone but is the 2nd book in a series, there are no spoilers to the previous book.

What a wonderful way to start 2020 with this truly heart wrenching love story! I loved every page, every word, every caress, every tear!

In my first review of this series I said that 'Reason to Ruin' had the potential to be a good series - this books moves it for me to a great series.

I loved the story of Cady and Gabriel - the bad boy rocker with a temper and the beautiful but quite Librarian who holds a secret so close that she doesn't let anyone anyone to far into her life that's until Gabriel burst into her life when her friend and neighbour goes away on business and leaves her brother to look after cats.

From the first moment Gabriel meets Cady he is drawn to her - she holds something inside her the keeps is inner anger at bay but trying to convince this shy girl that they have something special is not going to easy - especially as she is hiding something that makes her sleep with the lights on - will Cady face her past and tell Gabriel? Or will Gabriels temper be the thing that tears them apart!

A truly well written story that I actually felt Cady's pain and the emotion and the passionate that these two had for each other.

I can't wait for the next book in this series and if this book was emotional I am sure if Lee and Meara get their own story it will be twice as heart wrenching as this one. Well done Anna Brooks!

I love stories with a hot rock star. Add some drama and I’m definitely in!
This story is not just about the hot rock star chasing the shy clueless girl.
It has much more. Anna Brooks gives us a well written story, full of past traumas, secrets and love.
I like the main characters on their own. And together they have a great connection. Even though they are so different, their chemistry is perfect.
However, I have to admit that I wanted to cry every time he is really aggressive and she is so submissive. But in the end I could leave all that behind because Cady proved to me that she can stay true to herself and can speak her mind and demand what she wants and needs from their relationship.
I really enjoyed this wonderful story!
Now I can’t wait to read Meara and Liam’s story. Throughout the book we can glimpse their relationship and just from that I’m sure that I will love them as much as Cady and Gabe!

Ya know when I first started this series, I knew that each book would feature someone different from the band ' Reason To Ruin '. So obviously, I started with Justifying Jamie, and I was NOT a fan. There was far too much that I did not like, but I am a person of reason, and always give others a second chance, and in Anna Brooks case... I AM SO DAMN GLAD I DID! Regretting Gabriel far surpassed all the expectations I had. Yes, I did give Regretting Gabriel 4 stars. The reason it was not a 5 star review from me was because of the abrupted ending. To me, it ended when I felt these characters had more to say, more to explain. One more chapter would have sufficed. Other than that, this story was fantastic.

From the very beginning of the prologue I was hooked. This author truly showcased how talented she really is. The emotions were heart felt. The dialogue was well thought out. The story flowed extremely well, and never one time felt rushed. There was not a million plots going on that had my head going warp speed. AND THESE CHARACTERS? They are to die for!! Gabriel and Cady both, are such unique characters in their own right. They are so different from each other in many ways, but share some amazing qualities that make them mash well together, which in turn made for amazing chemistry. Regretting Gabriel is an angsty type book, and Brooks made these characters go through it, I mean really go through it but in the end, atleast to me, it was so worth it.

Cady is one of the shyest heroines I have ever had the pleasure of reading about. She is a lover of books and music and she settles for comfort instead of happiness.

Gabriel is the bad boy of Rock 'n' Roll, the guitarist for Reason To Ruin. He enjoys the perks of being a rock star, and has the attitude to match. This hot headed rock star has more amazing qualities than what meets the eyes.

What happens when the shy librarian and the hot headed rock star find more in common than what they initially thought?

*I RECOMMEND THIS BOOK

I don’t understand all the high rates for this book. This book is about a manwhore and a virgin. He had (off the record) sex with a groupie, meets the heroine the next day and he’s in love with her. Talk about insta-love, can’t find it faster than here. In less than a day he is a reformed manwhore, turns down sex with a waitress because he is so drawn to the shy heroine. It just makes no sense. They have sex, he gives her a diamond necklace and talks about marriage, ALL WITHIN 1 WEEK!! What am I reading here? It is so unrealistic. And let’s not forget the anger issues this guy has. And nobody seems to care and act like this is normal behavior. First time he slams a guy’s face onto the bar just because he comes onto the heroine. This guys face is all covered in blood, you might think this scares the heroine off. Nope not at all, she doesn’t know how fast she has to jump his bones. The second time he almost beats a guy to death. Although he was rescuing the heroine, he was completely losing his mind beating the shit out of that guy. The police comes in and the heroine becomes hysterical, an officer tries to keep her away so our hero assaults the officer. And she AGAIN defends him with his aggressive attitude. He goes to prison and gets a visit from his sister and tells her he almost beat a guy to death and her response is “whatever”. Whatever???? What kind of people are in this book?? Un-fucking-believable! And then there’s the scene where they have a fight and he shoves her away and she falls to the ground. It was an accident and she AGAIN defends him, that he didn’t mean it and she isn’t hurt. Girl, this guy has ANGER issues. His father almost beat his mother to death. I’m not saying he is exactly like his dad, but with a family history with abuse and so much aggression, alarm bells must be ringing right?! Why is she not running to hell instead? I have a major issue with his aggression. It might be because I just read ‘It ends with us’ by Colleen Hoover, in which the ‘hero’ has the same pattern as this guy. Let me tell you, it doesn’t end well. But hey, this stupid couple got their HEA. Congrats guys, hope he keeps his hands to himself.

The first time Cady and Gabe meet they find that they have a connection, but there is something else there too... it feels as if they really know one another. What Gabe doesn't realize is that they have met before, when Cady was a little younger and her rock star father was his mentor.

She is a shy, sweet librarian who lives next door to his brother, and he is her total opposite; a partying, womanizing rock star. There is no way they should be together, but he can't seem to shake the fear in her eyes or escape the dreams about her that come to him at night. He feels this need to protect her, take care of her, and love her... and that is something he has never wanted before!

Regretting Gabriel is a beautifully penned love story that will sneak into your heart and leave it forever changed. It's words take you on a sometimes painful and always romantic journey, and often remind you that even the most opposite of people can make love work . Watching these two come together and Gabe give Cady a safe place to fall made my heart happy, but I also knew her little secret she was carrying could shake things up at any given moment. So I kept waiting for the rug to be pulled out from under me. This love story had many ups and downs, but the ups definitely outweighed the downs. It was a story filled with drama, passion, emotion, and loads of heart! I highly recommend you check out this series, it's bad boy rock stars are bound to steal your heart!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.

This is the second book in the Reason to Ruin series, and as much as Anna Brooks loves to write in this world I think I love reading it more. I love that each one has given such different reasons to love them. I adore her attention to details and dialogue. Each of them are so wonderfully different from each other and yet some how they all tie up so well.

This book is about Gabriel who met as part of the Band in the 1st book ( Jamie's Book). He and his amazing heroine are so alike because they are so damaged and yet such different personalities. They really give meaning to Ying Yang. Cady is a librarian and has been in love with Gave since she first saw him at the age of 15, mind you he didn't even know until the day They met as adults. That have been through their own versions of he'll. They both have stayed away from relationships and have both built walls of protection around them.
That all comes crumbling down the moment their fingers touch just from passing a phone.

That is how strong and instant their chemistry is. Watching them grow and open up, break walls and shatter through each others demons is nothing short of beautiful. They are amazing together. The level of trust and understanding was amazing. You can't help but smile with a full heart for them.

The side characters add to the even better Dimension of this wonderful story.
I loved everything about it and I can't wait for the next book in this series.

Enjoy!!!!

AND I LOVED THIS STORY!! Cady is a quiet, shy librarian, who harbors a HUGE secret. Gabriel is the rock star with a temper, totally sexy, Cady's neighbor's brother, and he's HOT! Yeah, you know that type of hot, the type which makes a loud girl quiet, and a quiet girl quieter, that type of HOT HOT HOT! Not to mention, he has his own issues that he doesn't want revealed. They're opposites in every way, yet, the chemistry is next level, and I was ALL IN as said chemistry wouldn't be denied. However, remember that secrets don't make friends, and Cady is hiding a dozie, which means...yep, you guessed it! F-bomb worthy twists that make the nicest girl drop them like crazy. Now, I'm not saying I'm a nice girl, I drop them all the time, but Regretting Gabriel had me dropping them loud & proud. At the end of the day, can the shy librarian, and the angry hot rock star make a go of it?! (I would say sorry for the short & sweet review, but I don't because experiencing it is so much better!) You'll have to hit that one click button to find out, as I totally HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

I am loving this series! Gabe and Cady both carry a heavy weight with them, Gabe past abuse and for Cady the death of her father, and until they figure out how to deal with their past, they may not have a future. Cady was the apple of her daddy’s eye, he loved her so much and she took after him and musically inclined and when tragedy struck it rocked her to her core. She saw Gabe once at her house and she knew one day he’d be the one. Gabe, a rock star god you could say, womanizer, drinker, bad temper you know the typical rock star, but when his sister needs a favor he’s thrown together with Cady, a beautiful but shy woman and there’s something about her that calms him to his core, one could even say it’s fate that brought them together. He’s been known to act first and explain later, but she’s different, he can’t explain it, but she’s the one. I will not spoil this one for you, their story is amazing, it’s emotional, heat breaking, but also full of passion, explosive chemistry and newfound love. These two blame themselves for so many things, and it’s time to heal and really feel the love they both deserve. Awesome read and I can’t wait for Jamie’s book!!

This is why I read Rockstar Romances

Anna Brooks is my new rocker reader addiction. Her books are raw, gritty, and cuttingly honest, and they get to the heart of human failings and insecurities that are further exacerbated within the rockstar environment. This was evidenced in her first book Justifying Jamie. In Regretting Gabriel, we meet Cady and Gabe.

Cady is sadly lacking in any confidence and cannot see in herself anything that would recommend her to Gabriel. His concern for her is everything that she, and we dream about from the men that we have crushed on in our lives, only the object of her desire feels the same. How would you respond or feel in her place?

They have history, only he doesn’t know it. The world that Anna Brooks has created is as tangled and inter-woven as any web you would see in the wild. People know people, although they don’t realise it, and we as the readers are just wanting to yell at them to just open their eyes and ‘communicate.’

The secrets that Cady and Gabriel each kept to themselves was heart-breaking, as were the reasons why.

That end though, I cried. It was so emotional. It was everything. Everything that I love about romance, rockstars and music. This is why I read Rockstar Romances, and if they are something you’re into, hell, even if you’re not, I highly recommend this series to you. 5 Stars 🎼🎶

What a read! I was absolutely in love with the first book in this series Justifying Jamie and I picked up Regretting Gabriel as soon as it hit my kindle. Let me just say that I could not put this down! This was my first Anna Brooks series and I can honestly say that this is going to be one of my new favorite authors if her other books draw you in the way these do.

I absolutely loved Cady and Gabriel. Gabriel the bad boy rocker with a temper like none other. Cady the stunning librarian with a past that haunts her. She is reluctant to let anyone in and she holds such a deep dark secret that she is very guarded. Gabriel enters her life and knocks that door right on down.

In order for these two to work out, Gabriel must realize that he is not his past and Cady must realize that she is not at fault for hers. These two were so passionate, so loving, and truly care for one another. These two went through such a rollercoaster and came out the other end of it changed.

What an emotional, but beautiful read.

Right when I began Regretting Gabriel, knew from the very start that this was going to be an emotional read that would bring tears to my eyes, and it did more than once. This is so much more than a Rockstar romance, it is about healing, forgiveness, love and finding that someone who makes you want to be better.

Both Gabriel and Cady have events in their past that have molded them into the people that they have become, these events were life changing, heart breaking and in a sense self-molding. The connection between Gabriel and Cady is intense, the chemistry is unbelievably hot, but it is the connection of their hearts that is the most beautiful of all.

Regretting Gabriel kept me captivated from the beginning until the end, if I had one small complaint, it would be that I wish we had more at the end, I just wanted more, and for me the need for more is what makes a book great. Add this to your TBR list I think you will love it.

Regretting Gabriel by Anna Brooks is the second book in the Reason to Ruin series and it can be read as a stand-alone. This book put my emotions through the wringer. Cady and Gabriel’s journey is not easy whatsoever but it sure is worth it.

Cady hasn’t had an easy life. After a tragic accident, she decides she needs to start over and forget all the memories. Little did she know that by starting over in another state, would lead to the best decision she has ever made.

Gabriel is the guitarist for Reason to Ruin. He enjoys all the perks of being in a famous band. Girls, booze, and rock and roll, Gabriel seems to have it all. A chance meeting changes everything. Too bad secrets and lies look to destroy it all.

I really enjoyed reading this story. I loved the characters and the depth they had was absolute perfection. The reason why I didn’t rate it a full 5 stars was due to the ending. I feel there could’ve been maybe a little bit more detail . Overall, Ms. Brooks did an amazing job and I really loved Regretting Gabriel

Can’t get enough of this series! I absolutely loved this book much better than the first and it makes me so excited for the next one in this series! The combination of suspense in finding out who Cady really is as well as her connection with Gabe and the rest of the band really kept me guessing and on the edge of my seat throughout the entire book! After multiple childhood traumas, Cady has relocated to a small town working as a librarian and limiting human interactions. As things continue to come out for both Cady and Gabe, it makes the story that much better and makes readers that much more involved, and it continued to add to the enjoyment of the book for me. There were moments I wanted to reach through the pages and shake Gabe but thankfully in the end this couple gets the HEA they both deserve. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next books for these other characters – especially Liam and Meara!

5 I Love a good bad boy rocker! I'm so in love with this book!

It's no secret that I love a good rock star romance... and this book proves why! I love a bad boy rock star and Gabriel is everything I need in that! This book definitely had a slow burn, but I loved the slow burn part of it! And this was definitely a great follow up to book one! This is the first series/books I've read from Anna, but I can say I'm now a fan!

The Rockstar and The Liberian

This is the first book of Anna Brooks I have read, but it’s about a rockstar so yes I was willing to give it her books a try. I was blown away! I can’t wait to read the rest of the rocker books in this series. This book unfolded as the the daughter of a mega rockstar, a musical prodigy in her own right, was crushed under self-guilt of thinking she killed her father in their car accident because she was the driver. To escape her mental unstable step brother she escapes California for the hometown of her teenage idol, Gabe. Gabe’s twin sister lives next door to Cady. They meet over both attempting caring for Gabe ‘s sisters ‘ cats. This was a slow burn story full of heat and sexual tension, but also with half -truths and secrets. One didn’t know until the last few pages hw the romance would end. The author promised a HEA, so I trusted for her to fulfill her promise and she sure did deliver! New fan of hrr books.

SOLID follow up to Justifying Jamie, this is a stand alone but part of Reason to Ruin about Gabriel and Cady. They can be read as a stand alone or in any order each story is set to tell a different band member's story of finding the love they are not looking for where and when they least expect it. Cady was perfect for Gabe and just a fantastic sweetheart right from the start. I think her meeting Gabe was my favorite way I've seen hero and heroine meet. So refreshingly honest. Gabe is flawed, Cady is flawed, and the way they fit together is beautiful even if you want to beat both of them over the head with your kindle multiple times throughout lol. If I had Any negatives it would be the end seems a tad rushed, but thats with so many stories, you get engrossed and never want it to end, so who am I to judge? Now on to Liam so I can get back into Reason to Ruin world LOL

I received an ARC copy of this book for an honest review.
Well this book started with me crying like a baby it's so heart breaking 😢💔
It then fast forwards a few years and follows the life of Cady, who is a librarian, but has a hidden side, basically living a half life because she feels that this is what she deserves. Then in walks Gabriel 🤤🤤, the hot rock star that she has lusted after since she was a teenager 😍😍
He happens to think she is beautiful, but knows that she is precious so takes thing's slow.
This story is about the love between these two people, who are holding back. It's a really well written and thoroughly enjoyable read, that had me smiling one minute and reaching for the tissues the next. So when a book can make me feel all of these emotions then it's definitely a great read in eye's, and I can't wait to read the next book in the series, love this band

Title: Regretting Gabriel
Author: Anna Brooks
Format: Ebook
Genre: Romance - Suspense, Rockstar
Standalone: Yes
Part of a Series: Book 2 of the Reason to Ruin series
POV: Cady and Gabriel
Steam Level: Toasty
5/5

Anna Brooks does it again in this emotionally-charged rockstar romance. The prologue rips your heart out and Anna Brooks slowly puts it back together again. Dealing with the baggage of your past, the pain of losing someone you love, guilt, anger and learning to love and trust both yourself and others is a strong theme that runs deeply throughout. I also love the use of music in this series but especially in Regretting Gabriel. If you're looking a haunting romantic suspense that give you all the feels then pick up Regretting Gabriel. You won't regret it.

I received an advanced copy of this book for free. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Anna Brooks created another amazing story. I couldn’t put down the book until I was sure what I was reading was the very last page. This story is addicting, the main characters very well defined and the connection with both of them is immediate. This author really can write: You feel the strength of love between these two lovers, you feel the pain and the loss Cady is struggling with, you feel the anger hidden in Gabriel’s soul but, thanks to the amazing style of this author, the reader never feels lost in a twist of rough and though emotions. The Author takes your hands and leads you through this beautiful, heart-wrenching story of these two broken souls that find in each other the missing peace they were looking for. Every emotion, every laugh and every tear you will experience it’s worth this journey. Being Gabriel a famous rock star, I guess I expected the plot and the events to be developed more or less as in other million books, instead I was taken aback. I love when I’m surprised and this book was one of those you don’t easily forget. Everything was so real I felt like I was there with Gabriel and Cady, cheering for them, going crazy for their stubbornness, crying for the outcome of some events and, above all, exploding with happiness when they wrote together the word ‘forever’ on their love story. Any Romance lover should read this book and give a chance to this story. Believe me, you won’t find yourself…Regretting Gabriel!! I received an ARC in exchange of an honest review.

What a way to start my new year of reading?!! Cady and Gabriel were everything!!! There wasn’t anything I didn’t love about this story. These two were just meant for each other and their story was perfect.

Cady was so sweet, she is the type of girl everyone wants as a BFF. She is kind, beautiful and genuine. She is exactly what Gabriel needs to turn his life around. Gabriel is the epitome of an Alpha man. That boy was so HOTT and POSSESIVE, add to that the ability to make you squirm in your seat and that makes for a phenomenal read.

I am so loving this new series by Ms. Brooks. These boys just keep getting better and better with each book. I cant wait to get more from this cast of characters, I have so much fun when I am in their world.

There was absolutely no regrets with reading Gabe and Cady’s story. This is a heart wrenching, emotional story that will captivate and enchant you right from the start. Cady is a librarian who is more comfortable with books than due as her painful past has caused her to become introverted. She enjoys the comfort and routine of her life so when she meets her neighbor’s brother Gabriel she is equally intrigued and nervous.

Gabriel is a famous musician who is used to fame and everything that goes along with it. When he meets Cady she is different from any other woman he has ever met and he knows that she is special but between her past and his career their journey is far from each.

These characters draw you in as Cady deserves so much more than the hand she has been dealt while Gabriel is so patient and understanding with Cady.

“Music isn’t meant to be listened to, Cary. It’s meant to be consumed. Every moment of everyday in every way. In life and death and with every breath.”

Who doesn’t like a steamy romance with a rockstar?!! This was a nice read that is definitely sweet. There are some great romantic scenes and steamy love scenes. The plot of the story was well thought out and the characters had a very well developed backstory. It did seem a little on the top god to be true side. There was a few places where the characters or story seemed to contradict but overall it is a very enjoyable read. It definitely triggers some heart strings.

This is the second book in the Reason to Ruin series.  I highly recommend reading book 1 first but if not I'm sure you could read this as a standalone.
Book 2 follows Gabe and his extremely single life. Being a rockstar in the band Reason to Ruin means he can get anyone he wants, anytime. His hot head also gets him in trouble.
Cady is a total mess. Coping with the loss of her famous father isn't easy.
When these two meet it's absolute crazy attraction.  But Cady can't let Gabe know who she really is. She fears it might push him away.
This addictive story is heartbreaking, romantic, sexy and oh so much fun to read. Grab book 1. Grab book 2 and be prepared to be Ruined.  5/5

After reading the first book in this series I immediately got this one and OMG so perfect, I started it today and finished it today, just couldn't put it down, when you think the books cant get any better you are so wrong, this book is everything.

This is Gabe and Cady's story. Cady has loved Gabe since she was 15 and when they first met at his sisters apartment she didn't let on she knew who he was and definitely didn't tell him who she was as she was scared he would resent her.

follow the love, heartbreak and love again in this book, you wont be able to stop until its is finished, so looking forward to the next two books.

Regretting Gabriel by Anna Brooks was an emotional rock star romance with all kinds of feels. Cady and Gabriel were not perfect people, but could they be perfect for each other? Gabriel is a moody and hot tempered rock start to Cady’s quiet nature. They have secrets and wants, but can they learn to trust another? Their attraction and chemistry is off the charts, but they have so much to work through individually and together. Their journey was steamy, touching and heartfelt.
