The knowledge economy is driving global growth, backed by Intellectual property and intangible assets. Today’s growth companies have few physical assets aside from their people. Even computing equipment such as servers has generally been replaced by cloud credits for most early stage companies. Recognizing the value of IP is crucial. Successful exits usually have three things: outstanding people, differentiated technology, and protectable IP. Until recently, most banks missed out on some of the UK’s most exciting fast-growing companies. Their lending criteria didn’t allow them to lend against intangible assets because they couldn’t recognize the value of the company's IP. Inngot CEO Martin Brassell and his team classified a company’s IP and applied a valuation methodology developed with input from leading accounting firm Grant Thornton UK LLP Lenders could use this rigorous online methodology to support their lending decisions.
