Are you passionate about supporting young people? Sheffield City Council Community Youth Services wants you!
Community Youth Services is made up of several youth engagement services that seek to support young people where they are at. We are community based enabling youth provisions to be directly delivered in communities.
Sheffield is committed to providing an outstanding offer outside of formal education, providing consistent professional Information, Advice and Guidance support to enable our young residents to thrive.
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and well organised Information Advice and Guidance (IAG) Assistant to provide careers information and advice to young people. IAG assistants work predominantly with unemployed young people aged 16-19 to support their job seeking activities and signpost to support services as needed. Working alongside colleagues within the councils wider Community Youth Service, assistants will have a caseload of young people who they will maintain contact with and support. A key element of the role will be establishing and maintaining contact with young people who may have become disengaged from work and learning.
Assistants will be expected to deliver at young people’s homes, schools and within local community settings to make support accessible
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of children and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. Any successful candidate will be required to complete an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check.
We are investing in our workforce and are promoting opportunities to our under-represented groups. We value equality, diversity and inclusion and are focused on increasing the diversity of our workforce, particularly the number of Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic, Disabled and LGBTQ+ people, so that our teams reflect the communities in the city we serve. We are also supporting staff with unpaid caring responsibilities to work flexibly. It is a great time to join us and we welcome your application.
Under the Disability Confident Scheme, disabled applicants, who meet the essential criteria of this job, are guaranteed an interview.
Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part time or as a job share.
