We are an independent neighbourhood advice centre, established in 1977.

We provide confidential help, advice and support to local residents in Cheetham and Crumpsall and across Manchester.

We provide advice on a wide range of subjects including:

  • Welfare Benefits
  • Money & Debt
  • Housing/Homelessness
  • Consumer and employment problems
  • Getting into work
  • Access to adult learning, training and volunteering
  • Immigration/Nationality issues (we are registered with OISC to provide Level 1 advice)
  • Access to Education, Health and other statutory services
  • Information about other local services and opportunities

In providing residents with clear and comprehensive advice and support, we empower them to make their own choices and decisions about their lives, to bring about lasting change and improvements in their standard of living and general health and wellbeing.

About Us

We are managed by a voluntary Management Committee which consists of local residents and individuals interested in our particular scope of work or the area in which we operate.

We regularly recruit and train local people as volunteers, enabling them to undertake a range of roles e.g. to give advice, provide interpreting or carry out administration work.

As an active member of the voluntary sector in Manchester we work collaboratively with many local agencies and have strong relationships with national and statutory organisations, all of which helps us to keep up to date with relevant issues and information and enables us to refer residents to the most appropriate types of help and support.

Our advice services are funded by Manchester City Council, the Big Lottery Reaching Communities Fund, United Utilities and the Henry Smith Charity and Volunteer Expenses are funded by The Peter Kershaw Trust.

We are a member of Advice UK and hold the Advice Quality Standard.
