About this event

The main event, for all Gates Cambridge alumni and scholars, will be on 23 October (15:00-17:00 BST). We'd love to bring as much of the global community together as possible, please do join for this collective community reflection and celebration.

At the event you'll be hearing from:

  • Dr Mimi Gates is a Gates Cambridge Trustee and director emerita of the Seattle Art Museum, who is a specialist in Chinese art and co-chair of the Dunhuang Foundation.
  • Professor Barry Everitt is a behavioural neuroscientist and has been Provost of the Gates Cambridge Trust since 2013.
  • Dr Sanjana Mehta is an Advocacy Director at (ISC)2. Currently a member of the Gates Cambridge Alumni Association Board, she was part of the 2001 cohort of scholars.
  • Dr Andrew Robertson is Vice President, Head of Global Regulatory Policy and Innovation at Takeda. A former Gates Cambridge Trustee, he was part of the first cohort of scholars in 2001.
  • Jim Smith has been part of the Gates Cambridge Trust since its inception in 2000. He was initially the Trust’s Executive Officer and in 2013 was appointed Programme Director.
  • Dr Jerelle Joseph (2014, Dominica) founded CariScholar, a Caribbean-based mentoring initiative. She is currently a Junior Research Fellow at King's College, Cambridge.
  • King Mills (2007, Ghana) served on the Gates Cambridge Scholars' Council as an Internal Officer (2007-2008). He works as a Chartered Tax Adviser.
  • Dr Alex Davies (2010, Australia) was President of the Gates Cambridge Scholars' Council (2011-12). He works at DeepMind, applying machine learning to natural science problems.
  • Mine Koprulu (2017, Turkey) is the current Vice President of Gates Cambridge Scholars' Council and a second year PhD student in Genetic Epidemiology at Pembroke College.
  • Mahlaqua Noor (2019, Pakistan) is currently a Community officer on the Gates Cambridge Scholars' Council and a second year PhD student in Medicine at Hughes Hall.
  • Chara Triantafyllidou (2021, Greece) is a first year PhD student in Linguistics at Downing College, and a new Tutor in the Scholars' Programme of The Brilliant Club.
  • Gabrielle Mills (2019, USA) is currently serving as president of the Gates Cambridge Scholars' Council. She is doing her PhD in Chemical Engineering.
  • Alex Kong (2016, USA) is a co-chair of the Gates Cambridge Alumni Association Board. He is currently a PhD student in International Health at Johns Hopkins University.
  • Dr Halliki Voolma (2011, Estonia) is a co-chair of the Gates Cambridge Alumni Association Board. She serves on the Taskforce on Equality of the European Commission.
