Expression of Interest Form - Participating in the 'My Media, My Power, My World' Research Project
Thank- you for considering participating in our 'My Media, My Power, My World' research project in 2023-24!

We are Dr Sabine Little and Dr Ryan Bramley, two researchers from the School of Education at the University of Sheffield.

We have recently been working on a curriculum development project, and have created a series of interdisciplinary, project-based lessons that aim to promote critical thinking, digital literacy, and social justice for pupils in primary and secondary education.

This curriculum, which we have called 'My Media, My Power, My World', was developed by teachers in partnership with a Youth Advisory Board.

We are now looking for teachers in the UK to participate in the second phase of our project. You will be asked to create some interdisciplinary lessons to be added to our growing curriculum. Additionally, we will be asking you to pilot some of our new interdisciplinary lessons in the classroom.

As a thank-you, our international research funder, Holistic Think Tank, are able to pay each participant £800 to create up to ten lessons of their own (i.e. £80 per lesson), and an additional £400 to trial a small selection of interdisciplinary lessons in their classroom.

The project will run between October 2023-March 2024. You are able to withdraw from the project at any time, though please be advised that this may affect the remuneration you receive.

UPDATE (October 2023): we have now selected our first group of teachers, who we have invited to join the project. If you would still like to be put on the reserve list (incase any teachers withdraw from the project early), please fill out this form and we will be in touch if any additional participants are needed.

If you have any further questions about the project, please contact Project Co-Lead, Dr Ryan Bramley, at r.bramley@sheffield.ac.ukMore information about the project can also be found in our information flyer.

This project has received ethics approval from the University's Research Ethics Committee (UREC). Holistic Think Tank, the project funder, is an international non-profit organisation that promotes new ways of thinking about education.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

What Year/Age Range(s) will you be teaching in 2023/24? *
Would you be interested in trialling and evaluating a series of our existing interdisciplinary lessons with your class? *
Would you be interested in creating your own series of interdisciplinary lessons, to be integrated within our existing 'My Media, My Power, My World' curriculum? *
An interdisciplinary lesson would consist of:
  • A 60-90 minute lesson comprised of activities, readings, discussions, and more;
  • Web-based and/or print-based materials that are created by you, or links to Creative Commons licensed resources. You can reference publicly available resources (such as online articles);
  • Interdisciplinary content. There can be a specific subject angle to approach the lesson, but the lesson should be adaptable to multiple other subject areas. See our 'How Has Digital Technology Changed People's Lives?' lesson as an example.
Would you have the availability to meet once monthly during the 2023-24 school year? *
