Overview

This draft Strategy sets out proposed actions for transforming our buildings and the systems that supply their heat, ensuring a transition to zero emissions by 2045.

Why your views matter

This draft Heat in Building Strategy outlines the steps we will take to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from Scotland’s homes, workplaces and community buildings and to ensure that we remove poor energy performance as a driver of fuel poverty.  The Strategy encompasses an update to the 2018 Energy Efficient Scotland Route Map and the 2015 Heat Policy Statement.

Workshops

Between the 8th and the 18th of March 2021 we ran a series of online workshops. We are very grateful to all those who took part in lively and informative discussion. During the workshop a number of questions were asked which we did not have time to answer. We have collected these together and provided answers in a document linked at the bottom of this page. 

Privacy Notice - Using your personal information

Personal information, such as your name, e-mail address, address, post code and organisation may be collected by the Heat Strategy unit of the Scottish Government for the Heat in Buildings Strategy consultation events and used in order to remain in contact with you to provide details of the event you have registered for. You do not have to provide this information but without it we will not be able to ensure you are kept up to date with regards to the events in which you plan to participate or provide related information in the event that you cannot make attend the webinar.  Notes will be taken of the general discussion at these events and used in conjunction with the consultation responses for purposes of analysis only.

Please note that by signing up to the consultation event, you are giving us consent to store the personal data you provide.  We will only use your personal information for the purpose of keeping you informed about and providing access to Heat in Buildings Strategy consultation events and any necessary follow up information. We will not keep your information for longer than required and will delete all information collated once the consultation analysis has been completed. We may share your data internally to other staff within the Scottish Government but it will only be in connection with the Heat in Buildings Strategy events and for the reasons set out in the paragraph above. You have the right to withdraw consent for us to hold your details at any time by emailing us at heatinbuildings@gov.scot.

What happens next

Following the consultation we will analyse the responses received and set out the Scottish Government's response. The feedback will inform the final version of the Heat in Buildings Strategy which we will seek to publish later in the year.
