Tenants and Resident's Association newsletter

Dear TRA Committee Member,

Welcome to our TRA Newsletter. You will find information on a range of topics including an update on the lockdown easing roadmap, events in community halls, and free courses for our residents.

Covid-19 update

Lockdown easing has been delayed by four weeks and the new date for opening up fully is 19 July.

However, the one restriction being eased that may have an impact on community facilities is the number of people that can attend weddings and wakes. These events are no longer limited to 30 people, but venues and hosts must carry out a risk assessment and ensure that social distancing can still take place.

The Government Roadmap is due to be updated to reflect the extension and change noted above. This is the best resource for how current lockdown restrictions may affect community events and facilities.

Fortem seeks resident feedback

One of our new contractors, Fortem is looking for residents to provide an 30 minute overview of a 'day in the life' and what they expect as great customer service. This can be done through a video or in person on either Monday 12 July or Friday 16 July.

If you are interested in this opportunity, please contact Erin Healy at ehealy@lambeth.gov.uk as soon as you can. The first person to respond will be put in touch with Fortem.

Deronda community hall opening

lavender hope

The Deronda Community Hall opened its door to visitors on Friday 21 May and Saturday 22 May 2021.

The purpose of these events was to showcase the work of Lavender Hope who have set up base at the Deronda Estate since January 2020. Since taking up residence there has been renewed interest in restarting the TRA and a meeting is planned for later in the summer to elect a new committee. Due to the pandemic it was not possible to provide any meaningful activities for residents over the past eighteen months.

From next month Lavender Hope will be offering a range of activities which will include cookery classes, fitness sessions, IT training and an after school club. They have also teamed up with a number of partner agencies such as Morley College. The goal is to offer a range of opportunities to residents aimed at improving their life chances. The community hall has also been completely revamped and is available for hire from 21 June 2021. Deronda Estate residents will be given priority and a discounted hire rate.

Lavender Hope can be contacted on 020 8674 4803 or via email at hello@lavenderhope.co.uk.
