Dear TRA Committee Member,

Welcome to our TRA Newsletter. In this edition you will find information on youth activities, street parties, and TRA training.


Alternative Career Programme OPEN DAY

COLLAB TRAINING ACADEMY

Collab Training Academy invites you to attend their Alternative Career Programme OPEN DAY on 30 April at 11am, Myatts Field Centre, SW9 7RH. 

The programme holds weekly meet ups to support young people aged 16-24 with SEN/NEETs on their education, career, and employment journeys. Those interested can sign up online anytime.


Street party applications are open

Event Lambeth have opened applications for Street Parties from June to September.

For street parties that are part of the Platinum Jubilee or take place 28 May to 31 July residents must apply before Monday 25 April.

For street parties that take place 6 August to 2 October residents apply before 27 June.

Each application must contain three named organisers over the age of 18, be limited to those who live within the street and must take place between 10am and 7.30pm.

Building a Lambeth Youth Manifesto for Work

Do you work with young people who want better routes into work, who have  experiences and ideas to share and want to change the system?  

On Wednesday 27 April we're giving young people the chance to tell us what they need to pursue their dreams.  Book a spot and join us from 4pm to 6pm at 3Space International House in Brixton

Young people who contribute will get a £10 High Street voucher. 


Active Community Networks

Active Communities Network are currently seeking to recruit, four dynamic and multi skilled, Youth Intervention Workers to further strengthen their existing and new strands of youth and community development initiatives. The pose is a great opportunity to develop a career working with youth & community support services where people work collaboratively and are encouraged to excel.


St Luke's Spring Community Open Day

St Lukes Hub Community Open Day is an exciting afternoon of  networking, partnership building and re-connecting with the local and wider Lambeth community.  

All are welcome to sign up online and join us on Tuesday, 26 April from 12pm to 6pm. there will be face painting, wellbeing activities, refreshments, and opportunities to learn about other valuable Lambeth services or help us shape the future of the community hub.


Queen's Platinum Jubilee events funding

More than £22m of National Lottery funding is being made available to help communities celebrate the Platinum Jubilee. If you want to hold an event on your estate, please check out the options and considering applying for a grant.


Black Thrive Stop and Search focus group

Lambeth Black Thrive and King’s College London are partnering to understand the effects of stop and search on the mental health of Black young people in Lambeth.

If you know young people who are aged 12-24, live/study/work in Lambeth and have been stopped and searched or have been affected by stop and search in another way and want to take part, please contact Nathaniel Martin at nathaniel.martin@blackthrive.org

Young people will receive a £15 Amazon voucher for every part of the project they take part in (interview, focus groups, both etc)

Training is being offered to all TRAs. The next session will cover roles and responsibilities of committee members, minutes, meetings, and policies & procedures.

We have seen an increase in reports of fraudsters posing as repairs operatives. We are reminding residents to be alert and check credentials. If you or anyone you know experiences this, please report it online.
