Welcome to our TRA Newsletter. In this edition you will find information the Blooming Lambeth awards, youth activities, street parties, holiday activities free weightlifting classes and much more.......


Lambeth Together Online Public Forum

The Lambeth Together Public Forum is an informal meeting for people and groups interested in health and care to use their voice to make a difference. You can meet your local health and care decision-makers, ask questions and share what matters to your community

The next meeting is on Wednesday 25 May at 1pm and will take place virtually. Click here to join the Public Forum.

There’s no fixed agenda for the Public Forum but the Board meeting afterwards is focusing on Children’s Public Health nursing, living with Chronic Pain, and a deep dive into tackling poverty and the increased cost of living – you’re welcome to stay and listen.

Blooming Lambeth Awards 2022

It’s that time of year again! We are excited to announce the launch of the Blooming Lambeth Awards 2022 – a chance for every grower in the borough to win a cash prize and be recognised for their contribution to making Lambeth a better place to live.

There are eight categories this year and nominations are open! Please note all nominations closes at MIDNIGHT 11 June.


Men’s Den Workshop

Men’s Den is a 6 Week workshop starting 25 May – 22nd June on Wednesdays from 5:30 to 8:30.

The workshop will consist of the participants preparing healthy juices and understanding how food can have a positive / negative impact on our mood.

There will also be a fitness session after which  participants will be invited to join the art or music therapy class with the aim of producing a piece of art or music that brings awareness to mental health issues.

At the end of each session the participants will recap on their session and join in with a mindfulness exercise.

Offering sports, creative activities, fun learning, food & play and more for 7 to16 year olds.

Open from Monday 30 May to Thursday 02 June 2022 from 10am to 4pm at Windmill Garden Park, Blenheim Gardens, Brixton Hill, SW2 5DA

Brixton Weightlifting Club @ Brixton Rec

Brixton Weightlifting Club

Brixton Weightlifting Club is a free volunteer-led community service, working in conjunction with Lambeth and GLL to develop the sport of Olympic Weighlifting with young people aged 14-18 years.

Our aim is to train participants to take part in the London Youth games. We also offer coaching to women identifying participants of all ages.

Sessions are Tuesdays from 5.30 to 7pm at at Brixton Rec - Level Four - Energy Zone. No experience necessary.


Black Thrive Community Event for Parents and Carers

Black Strive

Black Thrive Community Event  for parents and carers. The event is designed to be a safe space to engage parents and carers in discussion around Children's mental health.

There are two workshops scheduled for  8 & 15 June, from 10am-12pm at Katakata Brixton Refreshments will be provided.

Street Parties

Event Lambeth have opened applications for Street Parties from June to September. For street parties that take place 6 August to 2 October residents apply before 27 June.

Each application must contain three named organisers over the age of 18, be limited to those who live within the street and must take place between 10am and 7.30pm.


Community Tech Support

ClearCommunityWeb

ClearCommunityWeb are pleased to announce the launch of a Community Tech Support Drop-ins at Moorlands Community Centre, 50A Corry Drive, SW9 8QT, every Thursday 11.00-13.00.

Community Tech Support drop-ins are a place to get support, quietly practice or ask for advice. We can help residents use their device, ensure it is safe and help develop your skills & confidence.

Book your sessions online If you would like to refer a vulnerable resident for individual support please use this referral form.


Millennium Community Solutions Launch

Millennium Community Solutions

It was a great pleasure for the Resident Engagement Team to support and work in partnership with Millennium Community Solutions in the grand opening of Southwyck Coding & Art Centre, which was launched on 13 May 2022 at Southwyck House Community Hall, Brixton.

Millennium Community Solutions are running a free 5-week after-school club for children 6-11 year old, starting 15 June 2022.  This is a great opportunity for children to take part in a drop-off after school club, providing engaging digital activities such as virtual reality, Lego robotics and creative coding.
