About proof of vaccination

If you received 1 or more doses of a COVID‑19 vaccine in Ontario, you will be able to download a vaccine certificate with QR code. Your vaccine certificate is an electronic record of your COVID‑19 vaccination, including information about each dose, which can serve as a personal health record and/or proof of vaccination.

Ontario no longer requires businesses and organizations to check for proof of vaccination. However, individual businesses and organizations may choose to require proof of vaccination upon entry, on their own volition, providing the requirements or policies comply with all applicable privacy laws, including the Ontario Human Rights Code. Businesses may choose to seek independent legal advice on continuing these measures on a voluntary basis.

Individuals may also be required to show proof of vaccination for some businesses, settings or workplaces or when travelling within and outside of Canada. Ontario’s definition of being up to date with vaccinations may differ from what is required for these settings, workplaces or international travel.

Check applicable requirements at your destination and with your airline, railway company or travel agent. You may also find more information on travel requirements from the Government of Canada.

Chosen Name feature is available in Ontario allowing a person to update their vaccine certificate to reflect their chosen name. This document is available in several languages:
