I feel very lucky to have grown up in Treorchy. A vibrant village filled with community spirit, a place where everyone knows everyone. A place where you stop to say hello at least 10 times in your short stroll down the high street.

I began dance class in the Park and Dare when I was seven years old. I danced there every Wednesday evening, and performed on the big stage every March. My dance training has taken me to Cardiff, Leeds, Manchester, London, and plenty of places in between. Now tucked back in the Valleys amongst lockdown restrictions, the community is even more resilient and inspirational like never before. I have taken this time to reset, explore, and carry on creating.

I am grateful to Creative Cardiff for this commission, for allowing me to share the Valleys in all its (lockdown) glory. Especially thankful to Becky Davies for all the support and guidance in enhancing my vision with many pearls of wisdom.

This project would not have been possible without the help and inspiration of my wonderful family, Mair, Sharon, Kyle, Anthony, and friend, Katie. The best crew I could have ever asked for.

Lastly, a big thank you to the business owners and people of Treorchy for getting on board with my idea. I hope you like it.
