Depuis l'invasion de l'Ukraine par la Russie, on nous fait croire que la diplomatie et la démilitarisation sont irréalistes. On nous a dit que le seul moyen de mettre fin au conflit était l'explosion des dépenses militaires et le financement des entreprises d'armement.
Mais cette stratégie n'a fait qu'aggraver les tensions géopolitiques avec la Russie, nous rapprocher de la confrontation nucléaire et nous éloigner encore plus des objectifs climatiques. Cette guerre a eu des répercussions sur la crise alimentaire mondiale et les prix de l'énergie, mettant en danger des centaines de millions de personnes, en particulier dans le Sud. Les Ukrainiens continuent de perdre des infrastructures, des vies et des êtres chers à cause de l'escalade de la guerre et nous ne sommes pas plus près de la paix.
Le lancement se concentrera sur la présentation de la campagne et la facilitation des relations entre les participants afin de construire un réseau organisé de personnes qui partagent une vision de la paix et de la démilitarisation.

Sinds de inval van Rusland in Oekraïne worden diplomatie en demilitarisering voorgesteld als onrealistisch.We worden verteld dat er maar één manier is om het conflict te beëindigen: torenhoge militaire uitgaven en financiering van wapenbedrijven.
Maar deze strategie heeft de geopolitieke spanningen met Rusland alleen maar verergerd, ons dichter bij een nucleaire confrontatie gebracht en ons nog verder van de klimaatdoelstellingen afgeworpen. Deze oorlog heeft een hongercrisis veroorzaakt en de energieprijzen omhoog gejaagd, waardoor honderden miljoenen vooral in het zuiden van de wereld gevaar lopen. Oekraïners blijven huizen, levens en geliefden verliezen door escalerende oorlogsvoering en we zijn niet dichter bij vrede.
We hebben een nieuwe weg voorwaarts nodig die conflicten deëscaleert, prioriteit geeft aan vrede, investeert in gemeenschappen en de planeet beschermt. Daarom organiseert Intal een "Campaign For Peace: Kick-Off" evenement.
De Kick-Off zal zich richten op het faciliteren van relaties tussen deelnemers om een georganiseerd netwerk op te bouwen van mensen die een visie voor vrede en demilitirisatie delen. Of je nu pas afgestudeerd bent, een anti-oorlogscampagnevoerder, een klimaatactivist of helemaal nieuw in het onderwerp - doe mee!

Most of us want to live in a peaceful world free from war and conflict. Peace is essential for nations to work together to end the climate crisis. Inflated military budgets could fund essential community needs like housing, healthcare and education.
Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, we’ve been made to think diplomacy and demilitarisation as unrealistic. We’ve been told that the only way to end the conflict is soaring military expenditure and funding for weapons companies.
But this strategy has only worsened geopolitical tensions with Russia, edged us closer to nuclear confrontation and thrown us even further off climate targets. This war impacted a hunger crisis and energy prices, putting hundreds of millions especially in the global south at risk. Ukranians continue to lose homes, lives and loved ones from escalating warfare and we are no closer to peace.
This militaristic approach is far more likely to provoke and prolong armed conflict, whilst setting the conditions for future wars. Meanwhile, the wallets of arms dealers benefit enormously.
We need a new way forward that de-escalates conflicts, prioritises peace, invests in communities and protects the planet. But to take on this vision we need as many people as we can to be connected and organised.
That’s why Intal is organising a “Campaign For Peace: Kick-Off” event.
The Kick-Off will focus on facilitating relationships between attendees to build an organised network of people who share a vision for peace and demilitirisation. Whether you are a recent high school graduate, an anti-war campaigner, a climate activist or completely new to the topic - join us!.
