The Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) Announces the Winner of the 2020 Bernard J. LaLonde Best Paper Award at the

2020 Virtual Academic Research Symposium

 

Lombard, IL - (September 20, 2020) The Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) presented the Bernard J. LaLonde Best Paper Award to the most valuable paper published in the Journal of Business Logistics (JBL) at CSCMP's Virtual on September 20, 2020.

 

The 2020 Bernard J. LaLonde Best Paper Award was awarded to Dung H. Nguyen, Sander de Leeuw, Wout Dullaert and Bram P.J. Foubert for their paper, “What is the Right Delivery Option for You? Consumer Preferences for Delivery Attributes in Online Retailing.”

 

Dung H. Nguyen (PhD VU Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam) is a Vice Dean at the Faculty of International Economic Relations, University of Economics and Law (Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City), where he also lectures in logistics and supply chain management. Dung's research investigates the relationship between consumer behavior and order fulfillment in online retailing. Dung obtained a Master of Science in Transport and Maritime Economics at the University of Antwerp, Belgium. Before joining academia, he worked in operations and logistics positions for several companies such as Vietnam Airlines, APL Logistics, and OOCL Logistics.

 

Sander de Leeuw (PhD Eindhoven University of Technology) is Professor of Supply Chain Management at Nottingham Business School, Nottingham (UK), and Associate Professor of Logistics and Operations Management at the School of Business and Economics of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (the Netherlands). Sander has held positions at MIT's Center for Technology, Policy and Industrial Development, at Babson College and at Eindhoven University of Technology, and gained industrial experience as a management consultant at among others KPMG. Sander's area of research is supply chain management, with a focus on retail operations and humanitarian supply chains. He serves as a senior associate editor for the International Journal of Logistics Management.

 

Wout Dullaert (PhD University of Antwerp) is Professor of Supply Chain Logistics at the School of Business and Economics, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (the Netherlands), where he heads the Department of Supply Chain Analytics. Prior to joining the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, he held positions at the University of Antwerp and the Antwerp Maritime Academy. Wout Dullaert lectures in supply chain and operations management. His research activities focus on the (re)design of production and distribution systems, tactical and operational distribution problems, and cooperation strategies in logistics.

 

Bram P. J. Foubert (PhD University of Antwerp) is Associate Professor of Marketing Modeling at the School of Business and Economics of Maastricht University (the Netherlands). Prior to joining Maastricht University, Bram worked at the Catholic University of Leuven and the University of Antwerp, and was a visiting scholar at the University of California, Los Angeles. He teaches courses in econometric modeling and retailing, and is program leader of the MSc Business Intelligence and Smart Services. His research interests lie predominantly in the area of sales promotion, retailing, advertising, and consumer response modeling.

 

To be considered for this prestigious award, papers must be published in the Journal of Business Logistics. The JBL provides a forum for the dissemination of original thoughts, research, and best practices within the logistics and supply chain arenas. The editorial objectives of the JBL are to advance knowledge and science and to stimulate greater thought and effort in the fields of logistics and supply chain management by providing readers with:

  • New and helpful information
  • Logistics and supply chain management theory or techniques
  • Research generalizations about logistics and supply chain management thought and practice
  • Creative views and syntheses of dispersed concepts in logistics and supply chain management
  • Articles in subject areas that have a significant current impact on thought and practice in logistics and supply chain management that present challenges for the future
