Quests for human development are believed to be affected by the COVID-19 pandemic as there is a noted prediction in the increase in unemployment, under-employment, an increase in poverty and social ills affecting especially those who are already marginalised. The devastation is predicted to be catastrophic on the African continent due to prevailing challenges already in existence. In order to inform quests for human development and influence planning towards disability inclusive pandemic responses, we kindly request your participation in this brief survey conducted by the University of Fort Hare, Business Management. The intention is to (a) gather information on the experience of decent work amongst youth and adults with disabilities in South Africa and
(b) identify strategies (bearing in mind ideals of decent work) being incorporated in advancing human development under such difficult conditions as imposed by COVID-19 pandemic.
Focus is mainly on employed youth and adults with disabilities in South Africa, including those who recently lost jobs between this year and 2020.
Ethical approval (REC-270710-128) has been received from Inter-Faculty Research Committee (IFREC), UFH.
Your participation in the survey is completely voluntary. Please note that at the end of the questionnaire, you can choose to be anonymous or enter your contact details. The identity of participants will remain confidential and anonymous. We will also make findings public and produce articles so that the study can be successful in supporting the national understanding of the current situation.
