The Women's Comedy Workshop
Complete this application form if you would like to take part in the next Women's Comedy Workshop project. The deadline is midnight on Sunday 15th May.

Please note - this project is slightly different to ones that have gone before! We want to use stand-up to shout about the things that need to change - from the need for action around climate change to the need for pockets in women's trousers. So, we want participants that are up for writing a bit of political material. It doesn't have to be "serious" (obviously!). But we will be encouraging you to think about comedy as a force for change and a force for freedom. If that doesn't sound like your bag, then watch this space for other Women's Comedy Workshop activity, which will be happening down the line.

The dates for this course are:
Saturday 21 May, 1.30-4.30pm
Saturday 4 June, 1.30-4.30pm
Saturday 18 June, 1.30-4.30pm
Saturday 2 July, 1.30-4.30pm & 8pm

All activity will take place at Theatre in the Mill in Bradford. Places will be prioritised for participants that can attend all of the workshops.

As always, no prior experience of comedy is necessary. Applicants must be over the age of 18. Applicants must also identify as a woman or a non-binary person. Places are limited. The information below will only be seen by the organisers of the workshops and Theatre in the Mill; we won't pass your details on to third parties without your consent.

Please contact Natalie on radiclecomedy@gmail.com if you have any questions.

Diversity Monitoring Form
The Women’s Comedy Workshop was founded on an understanding that women are less likely to participate in, enjoy making, and gain acclaim through comedy. We work to challenge and change this. It is for this reason that a necessity of participation in the workshops is that you identify as a woman or non binary person.

However, we recognise that just as women are under-represented in comedy, so too are other groups commonly discriminated against in society. Whilst not the focus of our work, we still aim to promote diversity beyond gender inclusion. Monitoring selection procedures are one way of doing this.

It is therefore helpful to know the diversity profile of people who apply, and of those who are successful. Please help us by providing the following information.

The information you give will be confidential - we will not share it with anyone beyond the selection panel.

However, it will not be separated from your application form prior to shortlisting. Should you not wish to provide E&D information, this will not impact your chances of being selected.

The criteria below are based on the Citizens Advice E & D inclusion metric. Feedback is welcome if you feel it needs improvement, and can be sent to radiclecomedy@gmail.com. Thank you for your support.

According to the below definition, do you consider yourself disabled?
Question Type
We believe that people are disabled by the barriers society places in their way, and not by their own impairments. We strive to minimise barriers faced by disabled people so that they can fully participate in our workshops. The Equality Act Defines someone as disabled if they have a physical or mental impairment which has a long term and substantial adverse effects on their ability to carry out normal day to day activities. In considering this question you should not take into account the effect of any medication or treatments used or adjustments made (for example at work or at home) which reduce the effects of impairments. Instead, you should think about the effect impairment would have if these were not being used or made.
