Black Fest - Empowering Women's Project
BlackFest are relaunching the Empowering Women's project due to the success of 2019 course and due to high demand. We are supporting the cultural recovery of the city in supporting women to come and engage in activities to find their voice in a safe space. According to statistic Covid-19 the police recorded 259,324 offences (excluding fraud) flagged as domestic abuse-related in the period March to June 2020 (Appendix Table 1). This represents a 7% increase from 242,413 in the same period in 2019 and an 18% increase from 218,968 in 2018.

The course will entail creative writing, poetry, drama, film and photography ending in a sharing event and a theatre visit making arts accessible for women of colour and increasing visibility in performance spaces

This course is fund by (WEA Adult Learning Within Reach) for individuals who are not education, training or employed (NEET)
