We Move: A Migrants' Rights and Race Equality Summit: call for content
Runnymede and a range of partners are convening a Migrants' Rights and Race Equality Summit over the weekend of 2nd to 4th September, which will be hosted at the University of Leeds. The Summit will bring together academics, practitioners, trade unionists, lawyers, student and campaigners to explore both the threats and the opportunities for race equality today.

We are determined that the sessions will be diverse and accessible, so we want a range of sessions that go beyond the traditional 15 minute conference presentation (although those will not be excluded) and which surface the knowledge of the Summit participants. We are looking for innovative sessions (including pecha kucha, world cafe, round table discussions, workshops, etc) as well as traditional themed presentations.

A more detailed vision statement for the Summit is available here: www.shorturl.at/bqwBJ

This is an open call for content, and while there is no formal deadline for submission, the content will evolve over the next couple of months, so the sooner you submit your ideas the better. Our aspiration is to create a forum within which we can blend the knowledge that comes from in-depth research with the knowledge that comes from the practice of seeking to create change.

We already have some ideas of areas we want to cover, but we know you can both enrich these and add to them.

How can we respond effectively to racially motivated hate crimes?
A criminal justice system which protects and serves us all.
Addressing educational disparities.
Responding to the ongoing legislative programme and its impacts on migrants', voting and civil rights.
Broadening the academy, including support for early career academics from ethnic minority communities.
Strategies for truly levelling up post-Covid.
Effective steps for evidence-based action.
Responding to the potential backlash against refugees.

Finally, we will have space for networking meetings so for example, if you wanted to call a co-ordinating meeting for women in the North East, post graduate students, or those working in EDI roles, etc. then let us know, and we will try to create a space for you.
