We are looking for an enthusiastic, driven and adaptable person to take up the role of Natural Flood Management Advisor in our Partnerships and Strategic Overview Team (PSO).
This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of Natural Flood Management (NFM) delivery, working on projects in Yorkshire. You’ll have the skills to work with a wide range of partners and internal teams and engage with landowners and community groups. You’ll work collaboratively to identify opportunities to deliver NFM projects in a wide range of environments and oversee development of funding bids and business cases. You’ll lead on projects, providing technical support and guidance on their delivery along with overseeing financial and management reporting.
Partnerships & Strategic Overview support the whole lifecycle of our flood and coastal risk management assets. We use a wide range of skills to help us plan for the future. They include the analysis of data to inform future investment plans, engagement with communities and professional partners and developing strategic approaches to future flood risk management. We work in partnership with communities and other organisations to protect people and property from future flood risk.
Through experience to date you will ideally be able to demonstrate some of the following:
• an environmental, geography or science background or relevant degree / professional qualification;
• good understanding of river processes, hydrology and the impact of flooding;
• strong understanding of natural flood management;
• appreciation of the climate and nature emergencies and how we can respond to these;
• a project management approach to manage multiple priorities and competing demands;
• be able to show where you’ve delivered success outcomes;
• be an intelligent problem solver, with a methodical work approach linked to managing risk;
• ability to communicate effectively and to develop and maintain good relationships with a variety of customers.
Everyone starting in a new role with the Environment Agency will be welcomed into the team and given all the training and support you need to succeed.
As part of your comprehensive induction you will also be provided with all the equipment required for your role.

Working with a wide range of customers with varying levels of flood risk awareness, requires the ability to present a case in a convincing and attractive way that will win people over.
