The first in a series of events this summer is a region-wide online workshop to introduce the challenges we face for water resources management in the West Country region over the coming years and to begin exploring how we can all work together to design and deliver solutions.

The Westcountry Water Resources Group (WCWRG) is currently developing the West Country Regional Water Resources Management Plan 2024, which will be published in draft for consultation in October 2022.

Having completed an initial consultation in January 2022, our ambition is now to continue our close collaboration with as many stakeholders as we can, with the aim of developing a shared understanding of the future water management challenges we face (especially in relation to the environment), explore water resources management solutions, and build strong consensus on the plan and its delivery.

During this process, we want to hear and understand the points-of-view of as many people as possible and help develop a Regional Water Resources Management Plan that offers the best value for everyone.

To achieve this, we are going to be holding a series of events (webinars, workshops, focus groups, action planning meetings) over the coming months and we will also be working with local stakeholders to co-develop catchment action plans in five catchments across the West Country Region.

Established in 2017, Water Country Water Resources exists to allow improved collaboration in water resources management in the South West of England. Comprising core and associate members, our purpose is to support a coordinated approach to water resources planning, to balance water supply with demand through a common regional understanding, while dealing with a range of challenges in the West Country.
