Driver / Messenger

The British Embassy in Azerbaijan is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking for two Casual Drivers to assist with daily driver’s tasks of the Embassy. 

 

The jobholder will be the part of the corporate services section and will be responsible for providing driving services for the Embassy on ad-hoc basis.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Driving Embassy staff and visitors in an official vehicle (regional trips as well);
  • Delivering official mail including invitations and providing assistance with courier runs;
  • Keeping the vehicle clean and serviceable;
  • Maintaining logbooks and fuel supplies, keeping an accurate record of all journeys in a vehicle log book;
  • Registration & de-registration of official & UK staff private vehicles;          
  • Ensuring timely submission of timesheets;
  • Compliance with Embassy’s transport policy;
  • Other duties as deemed operationally necessary by the Management.
  • Intermediate written and spoken English (minimum level required B1 under the CEFR or equivalent*);
  • Fluent written and spoken Azerbaijani (minimum level required C1 under the CEFR or equivalent*);
  • Valid driving license (impeccable driving record with clean driving license);
  • Minimum 6 years of experience;
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional early mornings and evenings;
  • Good customer service and communication skills.
  • Experience of working for an international organisation;
  • Experience in driving diplomatic or VIP personnel preferred;
  • Fluent written and spoken Russian (minimum level required C1 under the CEFR or equivalent*);

This is a part time, with flexible working pattern on hourly basis, fixed –term contract with possible extension.

The salary is USD 6.02 per hour shall be paid in AZN.

Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Azerbaijan is subject to Terms and Conditions of Service of the FCDO according to local labour legislation.
