BIPPA Regional Conference for the North of England and Scotland - Submission form
The British & Irish Postgraduate Philosophy Association (BIPPA) is glad to present their conference on Women in the History of Modern and Contemporary Philosophy, which constitutes their regional conference for Scotland and the North of England. The conference is sponsored by the British Society for the History of Philosophy, and it is scheduled to take place on 9 December 2022, at Newcastle University. The new and final deadline for abstract submission is the 10th November 2022.

We are accepting proposals for talks in any topic related to women in the History of Modern and Contemporary Philosophy, broadly understood. Suggestions for topics of talks include: the ideas of female philosophers in the Early Modern, Modern and Contemporary periods, up to the 20th century; the historiography of philosophy done by women; the influence of female philosophers on the philosophy of the Modern and Contemporary periods; and many others.

Regional conferences are conceived as a way for students in local and regional communities to get to know each other, and create an enriching philosophical community in the vicinity. This is why submission is open just to postgraduate students based in the North of England or in Scotland. If you have doubts on whether this applies to you, please check the list of universities below. People who have previously completed a postgraduate degree in philosophy and are in the transition to another are also welcome, regardless of their enrolment status. We especially encourage applications from all who identify as members of underrepresented groups in academia. Some travel bursaries will be available for students who are not based in Newcastle. We will also be able to provide childcare support for presenters with caring responsibilities. For any further information, don't hesitate to contact us at british.postgraduate.philosophy@gmail.com.

Speakers will be asked to prepare a presentation of around 20 minutes and take friendly and constructive feedback from audience members.
