MagSoc is now accepting applications to conduct our Michaelmas concert, which will take place in West Road Concert Hall on the evening of Wednesday 30th November. The deadline for applications will be Sunday 4th September, after which the applications will be circulated and a vote will be held amongst the MagSoc Committee to select the conductor for this concert.
Repertoire will be decided in collaboration with the MagSoc Committee with regards to practicalities, length and balance of programme and availability of scores. This will include a concerto with a soloist, who will suggest potential works. The piece they will perform will be decided in collaboration with the conductor and the MagSoc Committee. The music has to be accessible for a high quality orchestra with limited rehearsal time. Please think creatively but realistically about music choice. One of our goals for this year is to have more diverse repertoire in our West Road Concerts - do not feel limited just to include 'well-known' classics.
