Commission against corruption bill will be tabled: PM

Prime Minister James Marape has announced that the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) Bill will be one of the main agendas that will be tabled in Parliament during his term.

When addressing the nation on Wednesday night, he assured the nation that the ICAC Bill will be introduced to save our nation from wastage that is happening through corruption, nepotism (wantok system) and many wasted opportunities that we have seen in the past.

“Our society must be free of systematic abuse from corruption. Every one of us has the right to talk about these issues,” he stated.

“I will not be hiding anyone behind my government. Every one of us, leaders included, must stand to face the rule of law in our country.

“What has happened in the past will not be hidden by my government. The rule of law applies to everyone.”

PM Marape further urged all citizens of this great nation to report any illegal or corrupt activities.

“If you have evidence of corruption by any one of us from the highest down the rank and file, I ask you all, do not just talk about corruption; bring the evidences forward.”

He is appealing for respect of every citizen of this country and together, every one can make this country a better place.
