Corruption is widespread and it is an undisputed fact.

Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption Acting Deputy Commissioner, Rashmi Aslam says corruption exists in many forms and preys on those without a solid foundation built on moral values.

Aslam says corruption is known to cripple development and prosperity, wherever it dwells and as a country – Fiji cannot afford to lose the spirits of the future generations to this evil.

He says recent statistics have triggered an alarm bell that the time has come to act immediately.

“We have seen in recent times and statistics – where more and more young people start engaging in various activities and the data available with FICAC also show a some-what worrisome trend where more young people are engaging in corruption-related practices.”

Aslam was speaking at the launch of their National Anti-Corruption Curriculum in Suva yesterday which will be implemented in Primary and Secondary schools from Years 5 – 13.

FICAC says investing in the education of our future generations is the paradigm shift in the fight against corruption.
